I tend to agree with parent.
Looking at the date of this arcticle and this article would
seem to indicate that Bill H. is either fighting this
kind of thing, or providing the fuel for such a marketing
farce. I'm currios to know if he had a hand it it but it's
probably something we'll never know.
so maybe it wasn't on the PS3 but valve seems to take a more practical apoach.
This Article has some good info on what Valve is doing to bring threads into gaming.
Personaly I'd rather use their model because it's more utilitarian and less 'Because I can'.
I've recently found a job, so I applied to alot of places online. I use OO.o and save to.doc and never had any problems
from any prospective employer when I sent them a scan of my transcript (embedded picture in a.doc). They all said "nope,
no problem with the file" when I asked in the phone interview. I have even had the opportunity to use spread sheets and graphing
for a term paper. Worked fine.
OO.o is Good enough to get a job and write a term paper.
All the VB stuff....well I can't really say. I'd like to know what the VB stuff in office is used for.
I think Gentoo should focus on it's embedded offering. The benifits of being
able to compile all your packages from source and combine your system however you
want and do it all from source really shines.
I personaly wouldn't get one of these. I use my laptop for coding and DVD watching.
For me it makes better sense a full solid state flash drive because it uses less
battery life and is probably a little quicker and more quiet. Of course if you need more than 8GB
of storage, the price is a little prohibitive. That's why I use SVN, and store all my code at home.
Yea because they have their own builds of Windows right...
I'm not saying having your own build is bad, it's one of the benifits of Linux.
What I'm saying is that they could have support in far shorter time and on a quality
distro that is a little more progressive (talking about Ubuntu here) with the way it deals
with FOSS vs Proprietery drivers. AND since we are talking about Ubuntu you could probably
opt out of support if you wanted to, because of Mark's stance that you will never be charged
for the OS, but just the support. So you can make grand-ma happy because she gets a bug free 'puter
where she call call up tech support, and it's got a brand name. As for the rest of us, we already
know Ubuntu runs on it, which means it has decent Linux friendly hardware, so cancel your support
contract and put what ever you want on it. I don't think it would hurt Mark's feelings. Unlike ape boy Balmer......
The basis that the american dream was built upon are worth striving for. But tell me, where are those values now? I can honestly say that not one of the 'Original' values that the american dream was built upon is still around. Not one. And just like Rome, at one point Rome was the 'perfect' society, built upon the betterment of ALL it's people. And just like Rome, those values have been twisted and corrupted to the point where they no longer exist. And just like Rome, that twisted set of value MUST and WILL come to end.
No where in that did you single out politicians. And have you ever been to my state and met my representatives?
I've met them. I've heard them talk in public. You can no more judge my government that I can judge Iraq or Iran.
To call for the end of the US because we supposably judge other countries is hypocritical. But hey I can't stop you.
Fuck you buddy. I believe in them and so does my Father. It took me 6 years to go through college. I did it on my own dime.
I worked at a lumberyard in Montana in the winter and the summer to pay for my college degree and send my self to Japan on foreign
exchange. You...let me refraise that: YOU are responsible for YOUR OWN betterment. NO ONE is going to give it to you. Sure you can
help your neighbor, but that doesn't change the fact that they have to do something. That is the American way that I abide by.
And if you don't understand that, then you are going to get left in the dust whither the US is around or not.
Why start with Debian when you can start with Ubuntu and then sell Ubuntu support?
Mark's no idiot. He'd leap at the chance to do Ubuntu support on Dell computers.
And right now, the US has a VERY crazy/insane/retarded President in charge. Perhaps this is the begining of the end...??? I sure hope so.
Maybe you shouldn't throw stones. I don't believe every thing the US does is the most
correct thing to do, but that doesn't call for it's demise any more than the US called
for the demise of Iraq (as it was known). So you can go get bent when you think the US
should end. I'll agree that it needs a change but that doesn't make the ideals it was
built upon any less valid.
I concure. If only Bungie had thrown Halo at Linux gaming we would see a little different environment.
But the got bought so that's to bad. Kindof ironic that the only game I do play these days is Halo 1 and 2
and I don't own any Windows computers.....MS should just fold up shop as a operating system maker and just
make games an applications, they'd make more money with less headachs. all of this was offtopic...mod me now!
My mom uses Linux. She still asks the same amount of questions as she did when she was using Windows...
My mom is 55 years old, and one of those baby boomers that is affraid of computers. If that tells you
any thing about Linux vs. Windows is that for a non-technical non-gamer user won't be able tell the difference.
That still doesn't change the fact that some one was trying to root-kit her Windows 98 computer and now can't.
Or maybe they realize it's not about what you look like but what you can do.
Go some where else with your petulant teenage ranting. Or do your self some
good and go learn something. Or just stand there and try to look pretty untill
some one gives you money. No body here gives a fsck what you think anyways.

There are alot of people saying that this is stupid because their iPod
breaks when it falls out of thier pocket. I would say RTFA but, if you can't
bother to read the whole posting on/. it's kinda pointless to expect any
kind of intelligent posting.
Go on, -1 troll me. See if I give a fsck, I still call BS when I see it.

They sell those in the US now. http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/e 510_nseries?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn
There is a lot of the whole "eh? linux, say no more" wink wink nudge nudge going on there.
Still seems like they are affraid MS is going to bite them on the ass for this though.
I wish MS would try it, then Dell would just be like "Shit guys, we have to go ALL Linux now or fold up shop"
Would be the best called bluff ever.
as in you can't go from jr developer to sr developer wich would give you more direction in the company an posibly use your skill set to greater effect.
It's not like the UK doesn't have it's own problems. At least I can drive to work with out being recorded on a government camera.
....if you really care.
But not many people need this kind of performance. OTOH Low power is more sexy.

This is just Microsoft's fud piggy bank. They put some pennies in now and they will take some more latter.
