I personally put logging calls in the most used functions.
For example in my MySQL handler class I have put the logging code into the function that executes the SQL queries, which is the function that everything else relies on.
So when I need to debug I have a stack of SQL queries along with their error codes and error strings.
That's enough to figure out what went wrong.
My point is put the logging calls in the vital functions, the ones that do all the work.
This will save you many code lines and processing cycles.
...about the vacuum part. There's got to a gas of some kind in there right? I mean there's got to be some pressure in the tubes otherwise they'd snap due to atmospheric pressure. So my question is this, what's in them?
When I was, even, younger I listened to Hip-Hop, and still do. Especially Eminem. Listening to a guy with suicidal/homicidal tendencies screaming at a heavy beat really takes it out of you.
Now that's not enough. I've pickup up boxing and lifting weights to calm me down while listening to New/Death Metal.
Or maybe I'm off topic and it's all Red Bull's fault....
The Toshiba G500 and G900 feature fingerprint scanners on the back of the handsets, allowing users to access their phone by simply sliding their finger over the scanner.
...and that would be the middle one.
IMHO it's far more complex than necessary, more cool features == more things waiting to fail.
Yeah, I know, that's why I said "*close to* un-hackable" . Though when the design of a system is very simple, securing is quite easy.
And when the guy who made it is as paranoid as me and has this small system locked down and filtered from each and every variable, then the chances of it being un-hackable are pretty good.
I'd dare you to try and hack it, but, since Acunetix failed there's no point.:P
In fact I had my site checked with Acunetix when I requested a trial. And as a crazy geek I have coded a WebIDS for my CMS and a security system so tight that's close to, I dare say, un-hackable. So I had them scan my site just for kicks and to see the HTTP requests they were using.
Needless to say ALL I got were false positives, well I did have an e-mail address on the site for submitions of papers, code etc and they reported it as a personal data.
I replied to them explaining that the site is perfectly safe, they checked again and I got a "We're sorry for the inconvenience." styled e-mail admitting the results were wrong.
Anw, Acunetix can find vulnerabilities, but it's not *THAT* accurate, its good enough though.
DirectX is a collection of APIs for handling tasks related to multimedia, especially game programming, on Microsoft platforms. It is competing with OpenGL and with SDL and is widely used in the development of computer games for Microsoft Windows, Sega Dreamcast, Microsoft Xbox and Microsoft Xbox 360.
DirectX is also used among other software production industries, most notably among the engineering sector because of its ability to quickly render high-quality 3D graphics using the latest 3D graphics hardware.
... use Windows either for games, which won't work on Vista yet, or just because they don't know much about computers, which equals not being able to purchase h/w able to handle Vista's requirements.
From old MS campaign: "The less you know about computers, the more you need Microsoft."
I think XP is "good" enough for now and unless they come up with something useful and productive I don't see much change.
An ordinary user doesn't have SLI/Crossfire to work fast with Aero, and a gamer who does have it doesn't want Aero sucking up resources while he's playing a game with full AA in a big resolution and other cool effects on.
A developer will likely kill himself if toolbars keep flying around and shit start fading in/out.
For the non-gamers power-users/developers/geeks, there's the much loved Linux with something like XGL/Beryl/X11R7 which seems utterly fantastic, much faster than it's MS equivalent and less resource demanding.
Sure, I'll install Vista myself some day, just out of curiosity and to see what all the fuss is about but I'll never leave my Slack box thank you very much.

No? Then STFU and stop whining. I'll take a wild guess here and say that you're on the payroll by one of these 20?
Well, would you call the Mafia cheaters? It's like MS is selling "protection" for an annual fee and a vote!
Coza Microsoft...
Ok, we NEED a new definition for irony that means like "irony^9999999" cuz I have no words to
/me heart attack
describe what I think.
Are they freaking serious? ARE THEY? ARGHH
Oh I'd very much like to bitch-SLAPP Verizon!!!
This is utter crap and their claims will never hold up.
They're following the old: "The best defense is offense." proverb, that's why they made
this ridiculous statement.
This has really got out of hand....
Ridiculously out of hand!
...for me at least.
That's how I started building OSS projects.
No I don't mean man pages!
kid1: You got WoW in my screen.
kid2: You got screen in my WoW.
In Soviet Russia, screen splits YOU!
Well, if you take "ever" literally... the greatest software ever hasn't been written yet.. :)

Show some respect instead of making lame FORTRAN jokes...
Yes, because we all start typing "C:\repair\sam" the moment a website finishes loading...

I'll put $10k on the table with Snyder.

/me sorry
The guy seems like a true genius, I hope he makes it.
What's even sadder is that Ballmer & Gates weren't with him....But w
..welcome our Hobbit overlords.

First off, this is Slashdot.
Secondly, as the fellow replier (wtf) said you MUST be a gamer!
And, duh, there are so many apps for linux that you have all you need on the first freaking install!!!
FYI, people use operating systems...
So, what you said is plain old bs.
Now you could say that people cant handle, are scared of or intimidated by linux that's why they prefer Windows.
Well, that's really another story...
PS.
I gotta say, I don't like MS, but I appreciate the Readyboost feature...
...that the internet is for porn.
I'm starting to wonder if this was what Ballmer meant with this whole "squirt" thing...
Seems to me that Telus outran MS.

Just my 2 cents...
Well if it helps them why give them grief? Wired networks are : faster safer and apperently not as heavy as WiFi h/w I'm with their side... :)
