    The whole point of Java is that it is supposed to be platform independent. So you shouldn't need to get the OS version at all.

    So at the end of the day "success" is a combination of multiple factors and IQ alone is non-determinant. So who cares about IQ anyway?

    Who cares about "success"? Happiness is much more important. It's the simple things in life that matter. The best things in life are free. You don't need a high IQ to be happy.

    Let's turn the situation around: suppose you and your children are walking on the street. Will you still prefer the autonomous car to protect it's single driver at all costs and kill you and your children instead? And then imagine how many autonomous cars will be on the road in the future, all with that same logic built-in...

    It's not completely stupid. Solar panels on the roof are like a range extender. And battery almost empty during a ride, and the next charging station not close by? Stop at a restaurant, eat something while the battery recharges a bit, and you are good to go.

    The carport with lens is stupid, though.

    Power that can never be used is only imaginary power. It's like a car salesman saying "this expensive sports car now belongs to you, but you are not allowed to touch it or get inside it, and it will always remain here".

    Actually, people count from zero without realizing it, in my opinion. See how they count:

    1, 2, 3, 4, ...

    Each number actually represents a change of state. The initial state is zero. When people say "1", it means they change state from zero to one. So they actually count from zero.

    So Elop left Microsoft to head up Nokia, where he made supposedly very idiotic changes that had the effect of destroying Nokia's share price. Microsoft then buys Nokia at a fraction of the cost it would otherwise have been, and Elop returns to a prestigious role at Microsoft, where he's in with a shot at the CEO role.

    That doesn't look the slightest bit dodgy at all.

    The automated driver, has a key advantage, it doesn't get distracted from driving, its primary goal is to get you from point a to point b as safe as possible.

    <pessimist mode> What if this thing gets used by a transportation company, and they reprogram it with a new primary goal: to get the cargo from point a to point b as fast as possible?

    Don't underestimate the power of capitalism (also called "greed").
