  2. The problem we as a culture are getting too afraid of everything! Thus making things worse.
When faced with fear the natural instinct is Fight or Flight.
Flight creates Lazy Bums who leech off of others take drugs to escape life and never accomplish anything in life aka the Republican favorite target to cut social security.
Fight creates people who are violent and will kill others and end up in trouble. The Democrats favorite target to create new regulations.
For most social situations neither natural response to fear is appropriate nor will help anything. So the fear lingers.
Causing problems like, Obesity, Addictive behaviors, joining groups who offer easy fixes to complex problems (Political, Religious, Social...) who are more often than not radical in their behavior.
Video Games are just a type of escapism, not the cause of fear, but a temporary reprieve from it. So people who live in a lot of Fear may tend to gravitate towards addictive level of video games.

Many of the more successful people recognize their fear and work to fix it (the self made man)_, or live in a world that stuff to fear has been isolated (born from a wealthy family). But a lot of us is pounded with so much stuff to be afraid of.
I have seen Slashdot Posts like, I want to start a business but I am Afraid of Software Patents. There is no point in trying to make my own cell phone, it will never sell. I don't want to waste my money to get a degree... There are many factors that create fear and our culture has changed as to support fear as the correct response to many problems.

Oh know some guy says by some insane logic the world will end, Will I hide in a bunker, or go out killing a bunch of children to save them the fate of what could be worse. Or not fear the comment, and either go back and rationally figure out his logic is insane, or at least bravely go on with life like normal and go whatever happens happens, Ill deal with the problem later.

So instead saving my money and only going to the theater for the big blockbuster Special Effects that you need the Large Screen and mega Speakers to really get the full effect. I can actually go and watch movies with plots and quality acting, vs. waiting for them to be on DVD. And if you see a Bad Movie you won't feel so bad about it because it isn't like you spent money that couldn't be substituted for another show. If the movie sucks the next week go to a different one.

The amount of crime seems to show that these devices are too expensive (In terms of Physical Cost, Cost to freedom, or other methods of cost), for the demand, that people are willing to buy a cheaper product with the extra costs of possible getting caught, as well getting a product where there is no legal consumer protection.

So solutions available are the following.
Make the device cheaper (Money, freedom, available plans) In essence trying to balance the supply and demand curve.
Make the device harder to steal (Software, Hardware, Legal, Education) By making the product less profitable to sell on the black market (causing the black market price to be near or above the legit total price).
Find a comparable/better solution to the device. You stuff isn't going to get stolen when it isn't wanted so much.

People tend to have problems separating all their political issues. Open Source isn't Anti-Capitalism, even though some of its biggest voices are, that doesn't make Open Source Anti-Capitalism. However these people have a hard time separating their two beliefs and work to stop every workaround to make money off of GNU with the exception of Consulting/Support Services and Distribution.

There are a lot of good product ideas however the developers will have a near impossible mission to get the funding to work on it the time they need. Because the product may to so easy to use that Consulting/Support will not get any business, as well Distribution not so much because it is too easy to quickly repackage the product an other way.

So these people either add some advertising means to bring in some revenue, Offer a Time Sharing service, wait that is two old they host the solution, err um Software as a Service (SaaS), oh wait it is now call Cloud Computing.

You put a job Requirement Asking for Experience with Google Docs or worse Open/Libre Office. You will get a lot of Accountants, Marketers, Sales... Who have no idea what the heck you are talking about and they could lose some good employees. With experience in Office you can Pick up Google Docs, or Open/Libre Office rather easily.

Also Google does need to work with other companies. A lot of companies use office products to share information. 99% compatible products such as LibreOffice means you may get a problem every 3 and a half days. So I would expect Google would have Office installed for these people. Now the techies may have their Linux Box with Google Docs and they are all set... However other jobs not so much.

I don't have the citation and it has been a few years (and I am too lazy to look it up for a slashdot post), but there was a study that shows the stricter groups (Religions, Parties...) have a better retention and growth rate then the groups that are a bit more moderate.

So a Religion that says you are going to Hell unless you follow these commandments are more popular and tend to last longer than a religion that states if you are good of heart than you will be saved.

The same thing is happening with political parties, Parties are creating stricter guidelines to say what it means to be in the party. The difference between a republican and democrat isn't as simple as Small Local Governments vs. Large Centralized government. But to an array of policies often contradictory to each other that define the groups stances.

Most movies are done on smaller sets, so you will need to digitally alter movie to give the correct 3d effect, now when you digital alter something you can run into the Uncanny Valley where any slight imperfection could make the viewer feel ill.
Next they are still required to wear glasses. Now if you already have glasses that adds more discomfort. as well putting on special dark sunglasses in a dark theater isn't always good.
3D doesn't allow you to explore the film they make things in 3D that they want you to view, things you don't want to view are usually in more 2d, thus causing headaches trying to explore other details (Aka, I know the guy is talking, but I want to look at the woman in the background's boobs).
3D isn't as immersive as we need it to be yet. Some things work, such as snow or things floating around us, but still we feel outside the movie, we are not gaining much from it.
