US Cellular doesn't require a contract after the initial one to start service. They instead offer a phone upgrade every so often depending on the price of your current plan.
Really? Couldn't you have come up with something that actually makes a little bit of sense? Maybe something like a doctor being called in to the emergency room, or an ambulance driver taking a call on the radio to get directions to an emergency.
But you go with using a nuclear weapon "saving" lives. Are you even aware of what these things do? They do not save lives, they exterminate them.
Let's not forget that between the two companies they own near half of the commercial content itself. This gives them even more power to kill off services like Netflix because now they can easily and safely deny nearly half of the possible content to them on top of throttling the hell out of their connection to 2/3's of the country.
This would be more efficient with a small electric motor running the hydraulics than directly off the engine. The electric motor only needs to run when there is work being done where the engine is constantly running and either pushing hydraulic oil on a bypass or continuously engaging and disengaging a clutch, which also takes energy.
There is a major problem with that. What if they encounter intelligent life while they are out? The chances are very small that this will happen, but any chance is too high. If the first contact a highly advanced civilization had with us was with a politician we would be immediately exterminated to prevent our spread throughout the universe.
Or we could just call them Americans, or gasp, maybe even humans/people.
Though I understand that there are some people out there who have some reservations about referring to someone with a different skin color as an equal
Have you never seen this argument before? When you argue OO vs. non OO you are in for a virtual shit-storm from all the code monkeys throwing it at each other. It is however, quite entertaining to watch from afar. Just wait until we get a thread pitting Ruby against Python. Popcorn is a requirement.
Let's face it dude, people are hypocrites. This is especially true when interacting with people of a different group, be it male/female, black/white, or rich/poor. Someone of a different group than you will almost always view something that both of you do as perfectly fine for themselves to do to you, but a terrible sin for you to do to them.
What I want to know is why everyone is so worried about continuing the human race. What is so important about it? Where does this obsession with having the human race be eternal come from?
That's essentially how it has always been. Being able to make money off of your music without a concert or merchandising is a very recent thing. Before that the recording company took nearly all of the money from CD sales then imposed massive recording and marketing fees on the band which often exceeded their share of the CD sales.
You seem to have forgotten how well our current system doesn't work. We have sick bastards like Santorum who get to draw the district lines in their state in order to game the system and win an election with the minority of the vote.
The NSA and CIA do not need their powers limited, they need to be abolished entirely and the formation of any similar entity banned by constitutional amendment.
This is very true. Nobody is brave enough to try to invade the United States. The population of our country is far too well armed for that. It is however, becoming very clear that we are being destroyed from the inside.
"Voters in California can vote for greater social services, while voters in Mississippi can vote for contraception to be banned, and everyone can be happy."
If you think everyone will be happy with this situation you are seriously deluded. For example, not everyone in Mississippi wants a ban to contraception, if they did nobody would even think about in the first place because nobody would be using it. Kind of like the fact that we have states which do not have a law against bestiality. The vast majority of people in those states are horrified by the idea of it, but they are not clamoring for a law against it. Why, you may ask, because there aren't a bunch of people out there having sex with their livestock, so the thought never occurred to them to make a law to prevent it. This is how it works everywhere, if there is a vast consensus about some moral ideal there will not be a law to enforce it, because there doesn't need to be.
When you see people clamoring to pass some law you can guarantee that the majority is against it. It is just a very loud minority which is trying to dictate the morality of everyone else. If they were allowed their way the majority of the state would be very unhappy about it.
I think you are failing to see the point. These are historical references to people who brought extreme harm to their populations. The quotes are them telling others that they could not have accomplished that harm without first disarming the population.
I wish I had mod points to mod you up with. The entire purpose of the second amendment is to protect ourselves from the government, which is why the government is always trying to take it away.
"As much as 70% of Internet-distributed data is now video, 50% of it from Netflix. This new video industry — growing exponentially and transforming the nature of entertainment — is getting a free ride on the cable and telco investment in broadband. Arguably, this is unsustainable free distribution, overtaxing networks and slowing the Internet for everyone."
Netflix already pays for its bandwidth through its providers Level 3 and Cognet. Then if there is an imbalance in the traffic between them and the providers the one providing more traffic pays the other. This shit is just the big media companies trying to extort money from Netflix by intentionally slowing down their traffic.
"well, if you don't believe in religion what do you believe in"
I despise when people ask me this. Though it shows their true ignorance. They ask this because they can't understand the concept of not worshiping a god. I suspect that this is one of the main reasons many religious people hate and fear us so much(In many polls Christians hate atheists more than Muslims). I suspect this is also the reason so many immediately assume we are devil worshipers, since they cannot understand not believing in a god and we won't give them a satisfactory answer as to who we worship they assume the worst.
I don't know about others, but I have a similar problem. I was not indoctrinated into any type of religion when I was a child, so I am incapable of understanding the belief in a god. No matter how hard I try I cannot wrap my mind around the concept.
Any religious people out there have any opinions on this?

That really hurt my brain reading that.
It is lovely isn't it?
"press the big red nucleur button to save lives"

So, if someone really does find a miracle cure for all cancer it can not be announced to the public?

Yea, this one needs to exist, or maybe allow +1 or -1 with any of the tags.
That is where I will forever disagree with you.

They always worked great for me, but then again I lived about 60 miles past BFE when I had one, so there were many dead stations.

Same idea as a root cellar. Instead of using the ground itself as a heat sink, you are using a very thick layer of bricks.
