What? Doesn't include reporters? Oh well, I have read of stories where ordinary citizens were charged with it. But, they were running late and thought it would be a good idea to follow police car, ambulance, fire truck, etc on its way to a emergency until they parted paths.
Bad analogies guys. For you, a private citizen, following a police officer or other official while in performance of their duties is illegal. Tagging another private citizen's or elected official's car or person with a tracking device is seen as stalking and can at the least end with a restraining order against you. And, lets face it, they are not randomly tagging people's cars in hopes of finding a crime. They are tagging cars of people who are being investigated for crimes that have been committed and/or are continually being committed. Big difference in my opinion.
Have the Palestinians given them any reason not to treat them like they've been treated? Since the day that Israel was reformed they have been attacked non-stop. First it was military assault. After that homicide bombings. And now it's rockets. And as I said before, has any of the other Arab countries stepped forward to help their Palestinian brothers. I mean besides giving them weapons and asking for them to sacrifice their children and parents while they sit in their nicely furnished homes.
Not sure what whoever submitted this thought would happen, but I saw it coming even before I clicked on the link. While this is really old ground and full of potholes that can easily break your ankle I think its important enough to go over it with everyone else who are as insane as I am. First of all, the Israelis did not take the Palestinians land, it was given to them.....Hey!!! Wait until I'm done!! It was given to them by the Allied forces in recompense for what was done to them. And yes, the Allies took it away from the Palestinians, but that's the price you pay for being on the losing side of a war as big as World War II. Not only that, but the Palestinians still had their own country at the time, if slightly reduced. They chose to attack Israel and they lost. So, now that the history lesson is done lets do some current events. Saudi Arabia is one of the richest countries in the Middle East. Why aren't they helping their poor Arab brothers the Palestinians? Because, while suffering the Palestinians can be held up as examples of how "badly" they are treated by the Israelis. They are nothing but the stalking horse for Arab grandstanding.
Why are you taking everything I am saying in absolutes? Sure not many households in Colonial America owned guns. But, that wasn't what the point was. The fact that the crown was trying to limit how many guns they owned was just another way for the crown to exert more control over the colonies or that is what it would have seemed to them. In fact I believe the real cause of the revolution was the crown's refusal to give the American Colonies a fair hearing; a refusal to listen to their greivances. But, that is besides the point. I don't talk in absolutes and people shouldn't take what I say as absolutes. I pointed out that many dictators have outlawed weapons as a means for easier control. Other governments have as well. Does that make them tyrannical? Not really. But it does make it harder to resist when one shows up. And besides the weapons of this age are the media and education. Control those and you control the gullible. The mobs. And I admit that the main reason I will fight against outlawing guns is that I have the right to defend myself and my property against those mobs. As Samuel Colt once said "The gun is the great equalizer." A Coup D'etat against a unlawful government would just be a bonus.
Yes. One of the reasons that there was a revolution was because the crown had tried to outlaw guns. I believe they were limited to one hunting rifle per household. One of the first things that Hitler did was outlaw guns. Quoting the rising murder rate as he did so, too. Ghengis Khan also outlawed weapons as well as others. I reserve the right to protect myself from criminals, idiots and even my government if need be.
As part of the gun culture I have to object to the some of the statements made about how its a part of the problem. The day they decide to outlaw guns is the day I become a outlaw and they can come pry my gun from my cold dead fingers. Outlawing weapons has always been the first step of dictators to exert more control over the populace. History has proven that.
Or could it be lack of support? As a Tech Support Rep I have to say that Linux is not supported by us at all. That attitude kind of makes it difficult to convince people that it is easy to use. But, Gateway won't help me if I have it installed how can it be as easy as Windows? Soooo....here's my two cents. Until you get both OEM's and ISP's to support Linux it just won't make mainstream.
...which is what a number of you are saying and I don't want to reply to 9 different people. But, if you are installing hardware you also are installing the software. And that means the tech's probably had administrative access to the machine in question which would make using windows encryption moot. Also, what they did is standard practice. The machine is not considered ready for pickup unless the machine is tested. Luckily or unluckily, depending on your view, they found it browsing the guy's my documents folder which on most systems is a shared folder anyways, which means that it was publicly available.
Its more of a republic than democracy. And it probably should remain a republic. Democracy has the tendency to look like anarchy which means that whoever uses the most force ends up in charge. And if you think about it we're less democratic than you think. We can't even vote for a president.
I don't know about anyone else but after violent video games I am actually less aggressive. That is before I go to work and have to deal with those who break things and don't have the time to fix them. *Eye twitch*
It seems to me that any job that is stressful will cause exhaustion. And being in a field that is almost always understaffed and with people bugging you for every little thing leaves room open for a lot of stress. Not only that, but to stay on the ball in a field that is exponentially changing can leave almost no time for anything else so there really is no time to unwind. As both a full time student and working a helldesk job full time as well I can say that there are times I might have dozed off in both school and at work. Now if you would excuse me my break time is coming up and I find that talking about naps reminds me of how little sleep I've had recently.
When I found out that my body couldn't process the stuff properly i.e. mildly allergic. It became a struggle to find even bread without the stuff. It was worth it though. I ended up feeling better and actually lost weight as soon as I dropped the crap. I also slept better and had my digestive troubles ease. If something that is supposedly "safe" can do that to your body I don't want to know what is considered dangerous.
I think this will only be for people who use Home versions of the product. Those who use business versions won't get the ads because its a distraction. But still its kind of annoying for us Helldesk geeks. I get complaints when they see an ad on a website that they can't get rid of with {insert adware masquerading as ad blocker}.
That's my first thought when I think of the government taking care of my health. My second thought is "What idiot would let the government have that much control over their life?" There are only two things that run well in the government the post office and the military. And that's because they don't have that much government oversight. The government needs an audit. You can't improve government by adding more ineffective layers.
After playing around with Novell's OES I have come to the conclusion that nothing really has changed. It may be using a linux structure now. But there is virtually no difference between Novell of the past and the Novell of the present. Its just window dressing.
No matter what you tell yourself we can't really defend against terrorist attacks. And even though they seem to favor explosives they don't always use them. I myself can come up with several ways to kill mass quantities of people without explosives.
Freedoms disappear during times of strife. That is a fact. People used to accept this. Don't seem to anymore. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
Also, both sides have erred on the Fight Against Terrorism. To blame just one might be easier, but it is hardly helpful. The FBI managed to slip by the radar when I believe that they are the ones to blame primarily for the 9/11 attacks specifically. Congress is also to blame. While the president can authorize attacks or assassinations the presidents office after Nixon was little more than a figurehead. Congress should have been more zealous when it came to possible threats to our security. I have always believed that the federal government should be weak on domestic issues. That is why there are state governments.
....is more government regulation. As one of my favorite authors put, "You don't make a ineffective government more effective by adding more ineffective layers or splitting it into ineffective parts." In other words you have to cut out the ineffective parts. You don't fix a clog by adding more junk; you fix it by getting rid of the junk that's already there. But, I don't really see that happening anytime soon. As long as the rich own the media and the media owns the politicians we won't see much improve.
Governments these days don't fund scientific discoveries as they used to. It is mostly private enterprises and publicly traded companies like IBM and Intel that fund these research ventures. And as much of the industry research is being outsourced because its cheaper and they can use sterner security measures if they need to.
It's not because of professionalism that MS doesn't include easter eggs anymore. Its because of a court ruling that undocumented features also known as "Easter Eggs" were not allowed in software that is used by the government. And MS was a key proponent of easter eggs during that case.
I don't really care. If someone wants to read my spam or the chain emails my family sends me they are welcome to. All my important stuff comes through snail mail or bittorrent client.
Email, even passwords, are in cleartext. It'd be like being asked to pass a one word note in red with the ink faded through and not be able to read it.

The term is called ambulance chasing. And as far as I know it is illegal in most if not all states.

For government entities they are run very well. Here's the equation I tend to use: "not paralyzed by bureaucracy"="well run"
That's my first thought when I think of the government taking care of my health. My second thought is "What idiot would let the government have that much control over their life?" Those taxes really kill you don't they?
