I was talking with a friend in South America about that, and decided to send him a link to Michael Jackson's Billy Jean. Turned out that while I was able to watch the video, he had an error message saying the video was not available anymore due to copyright issues.

I'm sorry, I was about to make a joke about linking violence to communism, but I knew that would never come up right (at the risk of get modded as troll).

Seriously, why instead of blaming video games they go to all the root of the problem.
I could say that Christmas is linked to an increase of suicide rates. But who blames Christmas? No, the root of that problem is that northern countries have winter at that time, days get shorter and people have depression.

In the same way, parents use videogames to distract their children instead of raising them appropriately. How's going to blame Barney or the Teletubbies or Mario Bros.? No, they go ahead and blame GTA and other violent games. Some parents have lost their horizon, leaving to school, videogames, tv and internet the responsibility that should be theirs. Therefore, those are the first to blame when they realized their kids are all messed up.

Don't you find interesting that there's always someone to blame? The school didn't teach them, the video games are violent, the internet has so much information available, the TV shows are crazy these days. Why not blaming the parents? I think there's a really strong correlation there.

That's what kept me far from the linux based netbooks. The hard drive capacities are larger. Besides, I don't know if I want to install linux later, but I might need windows, and I know linux is free. So why shouldn't I get more HDD and a license if the prices are fairly similar?

Moreover, I stopped by Circuit City for example and watched that the linux version of the Aspired one makes it look like a toy. You can play there in front of a $300 laptop, and does a representative comes at you to ask you anything? No. You must go specifically looking for it. A regular buyer won't buy Linux just because. Particularly, when marketing dictates what they should buy: "Uhm.. everyone is buying Macs, perhaps they `just work`". To that, add the fact that people that is window shopping, sees a tiny little laptop and the will think that's not appropriate for them.

People need to realize their processing needs as much as power requirements when buying cars. Sorry for the analogy, but people would by a Mac because of the processing requirements, as much as they could by a ford mustang for it's engine power, even when they don't need either.

Precisely what I was saying pointless. How many NASCAR cars you can buy and drive on the streets?

I agree more on the F1 perspective, aerodynamics, handling, efficiency, safety, etc. Do you think land speed records provide mor "fun" than a circuit race?

I believe the old CART (now mixed with IRL) and F1 have more to take from.

Yes, you won't see an F1 in commercial production, but yet many of the technologies they have used are now available, such as semi-automatic sequential 7 gear transmissions, efficient gas engines, ultra light/safe materials. Now, what is it that this will provide to make the "engineering" world better and funnier except someone irresponsible driving at higher speeds?

I believe that first and most important, the oscilloscopes have a main goal of presenting signals on a screen.

So what else would one need? I think that if your lab is looking for a change, what you have to know first is the budget. If you don't make an estimate of what it could be, and compare what you can get from the different brands. Tek and Agilent are not that different so if you get something more just get it.

I've played with really old scopes that worth nothing today and some that are around $40.000, and the only think that changes is the degree of complexity when using them.

    Key list:
    Budget
    Bandwith
Grounded or floating probes (I belive is important)
Some media to download the plots for presentations, etc. (some had floppy disks not too long, I know some of them come with WiFi already)
Do you need a scope? or a spectrum analyzer with scope will help you better (then again, check on the budget).

Turned out that many pages I was looking for, I was using parts of the url, not in the domain name. Therefore, Chrome never found them. It was pretty quick to me to type them in Firefox.

Besides, Ad-block plus as many complained. Also the fact that I have to have an open tab to download stuff, even though I'm not using it. Closed the tab? B-bye download.

Moreover, it turned out to be a resource hog sometimes. Now it opens a process for each thread and consumes much more than firefox with the same amount of tabs open. That, and the "google updater" runing all the time bothers me.
