    IF you rely on only one payment method, you are doing it wrong. Google/Apple pay will never NEVER supplant cards and cash.

    When i walk into a store i know for sure they will take cash or plastic. I NEVER know if they will take 'phone'. There is no reason to use Apple Pay until it can have the same reach as cash or plastic.

  5. You dont need user-replaceable battery. You can pick up cheap USB charger packs for $10 that will charge your phone to full TWICE. Its a dead issue, let it go. I say this as someone who carried a spare battery for my WinMo XV6700 phone for 4 years.

    The problem with Apple Pay is that it will never be ubiquitous enough. IT was a mistake for them to enter the market and they should leave now.

    The matter of law IS settled. The FBI is trying to go around the law. There are limits to what the government can do, the FBI just reached it. Either they back off or they are going to continue to get egg on their face. Crypto is here and its not going anywhere. They picked a fight they cant win.

    Too bad we arent talking about your wants and desires. In the context of public policy, roads are for the utility of transportation and nothing else. We will end self-drive within the next 40 years (or at least make the insurance so expensive it will cost too much ). Count on it. oh, by the way, Motorcycles will be the FIRST to be outlawed, not the last... They are an unsafe conveyance at highway speed. If they were invented today, they would have never made it past legal..

    The screams of the 30,000 people that die each year in cars should be enough to silence this argument as we move toward autonomous cars. Its time to remove human ego from transportation. We may live to see a day where self-drive is illegal and i cant wait.

    Its a 4-6 inch screen, you are whining over nothing,. I record high resolution space scenes at 4k on my main rig and convert them down to 800x480 for 7" Raspberry Pi screens. Both my input resolution and my output target are bigger than your phone screen and i notice no loss in fidelity.

  18. IF that happened, Silicon Valley would line up all of its political power against Washington. It wouldnt be just Apple vs DOJ, it would be the entire tech sector agasint the DOJ. The geeks would rise in a spectacular way. The DOJ bit off way more than they can chew at this point.

    It could be argued that the cellular BASEBAND is telecom equipment, but that its also the line of demarcation which means the actual 'computer' part is not telecom equipment.

    Even disregarding the community aspect, Odroid runs a weirdo/old software stack. If it was running something more akin to Raspbian which is pretty close to mainline Debian, i would be more interested in it. I dont even like using Adafruit's custom raspbian images they provide with their ~3" TFT screens.

  24. The argument is that Microsoft set it up in such a way that all roads lead to Win 10 with the user never being able to flat out deny it. Microsoft setup Windows 10 as a 'potential' for all eligible machines to fall into, like gravity. Its wrong for Microsoft to set us on the edge of an event horizon and then blame us for falling in.
