The important thing is to get a manager. The first line people have no authority to make changes or decisions. In my line of thinking, the first line in any customer service facility is to deal with happy customers and those angry ones too timid to speak up. _Always_ ask for a supervisor when you are complaining and the front line isn't working.

Speaking of "times as they are", are times really that tough for everyone or are we being hood winked into missing raises and doing without when things aren't that bad? Maybe this isn't intentional, it could be that people have gone from being ultra liberal with spending to ultra conservative. Even in my company which has always been slow to spend, things have cut back. What's the real reason behind all this?

I think we covered this in the "Gene jumping" thread. The gene's didn't jump, the two seperate products were mixed together, as solids, and so some of the genetically modifed stuff got in with the non genetically modified stuff and when ingested, poff. The genes are merged. Or some such nonsense. The article had nothing to do with genes jumping speceies. Just another case of /. editors not reading the story well enough to create a decent headline.

I know, if encryption is only used when you have something secret to say then it draws attention, but really. Do you all think that the government is going to sit back and read everyones mail? I'm not even sure this bill allows them to do that. They have to report all uses of this power to the Attorney General within 90 days and he has to report it to congress, and the public, within a year of the use. The paperwork alone would bury an entire department if they monitored all emails. Yes this is a bad piece of legislation and takes away civil liberties, it does not however, mean that all emails are going to be read.
