Your Vista criticism is sound except for the indexing part. I have over a terabyte of stuff on my home machine and despite my best efforts I often cannot find things. OS X Spotlight has literally become my Finder replacement. These days I rarely ever even navigate through the windows. Of course I have had to learn to be a lot more careful when I label documents, but the time savings more than makes up for the occasional indexing. To me at least, real comprehensive search is the killer app of the modern desktop.
I travel through the state of Illinois quite often, a state which has a sick fascination with toll booths. Despite the fact that most of the money comes from the feds they still feel it is their right to extract 8 bucks each way to and from Chicago, despite the fact that neighboring states have few if any tolls. Because of this as a matter of priciple I skip every toll and go through the "Easy-Pass" lane. I often see the flash of the camera behind me and at first was quite ready get caught, but after about 4 years now I'm convinced the whole thing is a hoax. Even if I do get one sometime I have saved literally hundreds and perhaps nearly a thousand dollars which will not be going to support unfair taxation of out of state travelers. As a side not I hated Gov. Rod long before his recent scandle thanks to his name appearing on every toll station in the state.
I think the verdict is still out on Hulu, though I agree it seems that they have done well, its just too early. Still a great counter example is iTunes. NBC figured out that mistake pretty quick and came running back after losing millions of dollars and the goodwill of the rabid Mac fanboy. I would argue that Hulu is an anomaly because it is one of the few things they have done right. I hardly blame the average/.er for calling them dopes on this one.
Well if you don't consider global warming to be "accepted science" then I really don't think you have much of a hold on the concept of science at all. 10 years ago maybe, but now you seem like a flat earther.
Jimmy Carter does not hate Israel. Instead he is simply trying to understand the root of the problem by talking to BOTH sides. Its a really novel concept for most people who seem so involved in what is really a mutual fuck-up. If the world had more people like that this conflict would have been solved years ago. Instead the world is full of people who think like you do- that one side is morally better.
Perhaps this is OT, but I honestly don't know. One thing in my area that is driving me literally ape shit is the new installation of what I assume are energy efficient stop lights (LED?). What kills me is that they are barely visible unless you are looking dead on from the right angle. It reminds me of old passive matrix LCDs. They are simply maddening and they are popping up all over the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. I don't understand what the benefit to lights that no one can see are. They seem quite dangerous. In fact even when looking head on at them they are quite dim, and often hard to make out from a distance. If anybody can tell me what the hell they are and why they are around I would be really stoked.
The concepts is awesome, especially for those of us who use services like this. However I am unsure about how they can accurately predict where a player in "going". In some linear games this might not be too hard but what about GTA or other sandboxed games? Also in many cases it seems as though the game engine itself is a significant part of the download. If the entire engine must be downloaded first, then it is not so similar to other download-to-buy services. Still despite my concerns I will keep my eye on this one.
Yes because Iraq attacked us on 9/11 right, right? I know God loves us all, but I bet he is a bit ashamed of you. Educate yourself and learn to be tolerant, otherwise you will still be the same Anonymous Coward you are right now, afraid to even let your identity be known when you spew this foul shit. You are surely a very unhappy person.
I too was struck by that point. I certainly still agree with Mr. Starks, but this was a sad statement from an otherwise honorable individual. Many teachers I know love the concept of Linux and FOSS. To polarize this issue with what is essentially a conspiracy theory distracts from the true problem of uneducated individuals who mistrust our movement.
I think Tom Morello was making a commentary (non-literally) saying that Bush is as much a criminal, and perhaps more than the men in Gitmo who have never even been tried for a crime. Sure many of them are guilty, but we know for certain Mr. Bush is.
I totally agree that the Afghan conflict is hardly a sign of success socially or militarily (Read: we biffed it). But to conflate it to Iraq, a war with zero justification is morally incorrect. The parent was calling this soldier a mercenary, insinuating that he is ethically bankrupt- that is simply unfair and frankly a shame considering the many valid arguments about our ongoing conflict. Statements like yours are far more likely to open real dialogue. When a pacifist who has protested many wars like myself is fired up you know the parent is a jerk. Thanks for the info.
He is not in Iraq, fighting an unjust war. He is fighting the people who are ACTUALLY responsible for 9/11. Yes of course Bush fucked up Katrina but that doesn't excuse the Taliban.
I wonder what that will mean since Psystar buys actual OS X disks? Would Apple sue for the "damage" of not selling the hardware?
Dell bought Alienware in 2006.

The point being made tho is not whether or not 45k is a decent wage, but instead how the producers of the art get 45k while the suits get 11 million.

I always wondered why they were so stylish and a hard working! Thanks Mr. Troll!!

its a great choice and will run on almost anything.

To add to this the comments page is no longer rendering correctly on iPhone Safari firmwire 2.2. The overlays on the right block the comment scores.

He is NOT in Iraq, get it through that thick skull. Afghanistan is certainly a just war, unlike the other one.

You do realize he is not in Iraq right?
You are a sick fuck, and a disgrace to this nation. Turn that M203 on yourself and do us all a favor. You disgust me.
He posted his problem on Slashdot...
Correction----CPU that is.
Ok guys, would you want to run ANYTHING DX10 on a 800mhz GPU. Jesus.
Geez perhaps a DX10 demo, floating cube or some such, certainly MS could conjure up something that would be less embarrassing.
