Very true! And their problems are typically on a larger scale, as they buy massive amounts of what they think will sell, and then are stuck with dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of what did not.
Yet, this cam be a problem of a different magnitude for small retailers, which likely sell a much smaller variety of goods, decreasing their chances of a good return. Because of this, they end up with a more vested interest in every sale. So, you'll typically get better service at a small store, because they do need to sell you that widget to stay in the green. Walmart can lose a case of widgets, and still do relatively well.
Which is also why produce is so expensive, but that's a bit off topic:)
Well both small and large retailers do it; and most manufacturers don't care, or have a reason to. Small retailers do it to get rid of stock that isn't selling well; large ones do it to get rid of... the small retailers.
Although most manufacturers do set a minimum advertiseable price. But again, many major retailers refuse to follow such rules, and most small ones aren't really subject to scrutiny.
let me know when there's a six million dollar laptop.
Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world's first bionic [laptop]. Steve Austin will be that [laptop]. Better than he was before. Better...stronger...faster
Teach them Stealing is WRONG early on and we won't have to worry about them being scum later in life. RIAA/MPAA is doing us all a favor. Don't forget it! So I am the only one who's sarcasm detector went off for this?
tis a problem with heavy pot smokers, they tend to forget things;-) Are you referring to the poster, or the slashdot editors? You must be new here. I think you meant to say "yes."
Apple doesn't "get it" because it's lawyers are perpetually concerned with annoying little flies, such as the RIAA, pulling their entire stock. What sillies, we all know the RIAA never wins cases!/sarcasm (Or was it?)
And would have a conniption over buying and re-installing an operating system. That's yet another reason office, or at lease some halfway decent word processor should come with windows. Look at Apple; Appleworks comes with it. It's not great, but certainly better than word-pad/text-edit. You can then upgrade to pages/keynote, if you have those needs.
Perhaps they're counting 'operating systems' a single entity, like 'hair' or 'grass' or 'cocaine!' So when they say less, they don't even necesarilly mean smaller, just less data total. So you could shave off a palm OS here, half of windows ME there. It all works out perfectly, because if there's just no windows at all, how can it have gaping holes?:D
Exactly. I'm really not fond of waking up while it's still dark out. It contributes to seasonal depression, which I suppose now I'll just hold on to for an extra month:|
The problem is; that's still a part of the old puzzle. You've just replaced "Subliminal messages, which are probably recognised by the brain, have a minimal effect" with "Subliminal messages, which are recognised by the brain, have a minimal effect."
Yes, it should be/is possible to actually excite certain parts of the brain with messages that can't be registered consciously. But is it really worth it? It doesn't make you think "I want a cheeseburger!!" even though you're a vegetarian. Instead, it might make you want a tofu burger.:)
This isn't exactly new information. It's been widely available for decades that yes, in fact, you do register subliminal messages. But it's also been proven time and again, that they have a statistically insignificant effect on your desires, and CERTAINLY not enough to change your opinions.
I know darn well that if macs were more popular, they'd have just as many problems with viruses as windows. That's exactly why I don't try to convert people! Right now, we're right at the point where more major software developers have a native version for macintosh, but hackers tend to ignore us. If people leave Apple, we'll have serious support issues. If people migrate to apple, we've have virus problems.
In short: Don't switch to apple!! Unless you already use them, in which case: Don't switch to anything else!!
And I would know this, because I have a Ph.D. in Astral Cartography.
Do you hear that? That "whooshing" noise? That's the joke, whizzing past your head.
Only 48% think that? I thought it was a lot higher... I mean, there are a lot more stupid people than that :)
Step two is much too involved. Try something more like this:
Step One: Get Yahoo Account
Step Two:
Step Three: Profits!

I love non sequiturs so much!
Now, can you get a refund on the unused... dell?
That the OS with the most viruses to worry about, is also the one that spends the most time working on virus protection? That's bloody amazing!
People actually use DivX?
1) Find the bands people like
2) Sign them on with Sony
3) Never sell an album again!

I believe he means to imply "We're smart enough to realise that more mac users means more mac viruses, and more mac newbies asking for advice."
Seriously everyone, stick with windows. I'm sure the brain hemorrhaging is good for the economy >:)
No doubt!
/em starry eyes
But they're so preeeeettttyyyyy
Check the specs on the suissa, though. They're likely to be better that what you're running :)
Former paid users, becoming pirates after realizing Windows isn't
A) Worth paying for
B) Worth looking for your old install CD for
Not that that describes me, in any way.
Also, apple software is easier to pirate, excluding server. Don't even bother trying to pirate OSX server. Not that I've tried >_>
Heh, I haven't gotten my hands on an intel-mac... something about being very poor.
And yes, I do like text edit! Oddly enough, I use all three(text edit, pages, and appleworks) on a regular basis.

My 3G is still running fine :D As is the HD in my g4 iBook.
No, really. If you just don't sit on they, they last just fine!
