I agree. I was excited at first, but the endless bimbo scenes whispering into the dorky ear of that ponderous scientist guy is just getting really, really old. Nothing ever happens on this show. It's just drudgery. I keep waiting for something to happen, but it's the same old dark-dank story-line (no story-line) ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.....
Well, I just loaded my neighbors admin page on their linksys. Logged onto their non-wep wifi, loaded 192.168.1.1, and entered "admin" as the password. Bingo. Now I could screw with it if I wanted to, but that would just screw with my ability to use their network when I'm downloading pron on mine. It was all to easy. No scripting, no hacking, just obvious. I'll bet most (wi-fi) will be just like this. There are 3 wifi networks avaiilable from neighbors (homes) and none of them use wep or mac addresses.
You can also tell Outlook not to check mail. That's pretty foolproof. Even better, move Outlook to a safe place, such as the trash bit. That's a pretty good way to avoid any offending code.
I really love my TiVo. I got the damn thing as a gift about a year ago and almost sent it back because of the subscription fees. But I hooked it up anyway. Sure as hell glad I did. I can't imagine watching the tube without it. I hope that the software for "TiVoToGo" works with a Mac. The press release doesn't seem to indicate it will. Ripping video with a Mac now from your TiVo is so convoluted that it makes it almost pointless. I, as with many other consumers I would imagine, just want to transfer shows to my computer to watch the damn things on the road. I hate to pay more for the feature, but I would for the convenience. Am I pissed that transferring non DRM video isn't easily transferable to my laptop as a standard mpeg file, hell yes. But in the end I just want it to work.
I would. My collection tops out at about 90 gigs. No ipod is going to hold that anyway. I just create playlists to update my 5 gig pod. That's the beauty of firewire. If they released a 2 gig ipod for 100 bucks I'd be the first in line to buy one. Small space, fast transfer. 2 gigs would do me fine.
Well here in South Florida (fort lauderdale) I have yet to find anyone with 'free' hotspot access. And I don't have the time to wonder around wardriving for access. So, I went the tmobile route. Switched carriers and for an extra twenty bucks a month I can head over to Borders or any of the local Starbucks and log on with a browser. For a work at home guy it's worth 20 bucks a month to get out of the house and work somewhere else. Helps keep my sanity.
What I want to know is don't any of hte Iraq council members know how to use a mic. Every 10 seconds they are tapping on the freekin mics and mumbling in Arabic "is this on?" Are these the smartest people we could find to govern their country? Somebody needs to give them a media 101 course. (tap tap tap)
Moveable type is great. Also check out the excellent applescript studio software Kung Log for managing your web log. Including uploading and thumbnails of your picts.
I agree with your agreement. I gave this show many, many chances. And I could never get it. As stupid as it could be, I would rather have seen Lexx been brought back from the dead.
I know they didn't spell it out, but it's pretty obvious. As Steve Job's said, I'm not sure why anyone would want to get on the bandwagon, it's a losing propisition. Apple is leading everyone in this area, and losing their shirts.
Anyway, it's kind of sad that they are going away. Honestly, since Vivendi bought the site, it lost most of its charm. I joined mp3.com in the beginning. Posted tons of song. It was a great site for amateur musicians and folks on the fringe. As a songwriter, it was a good place to park tunes and have folks listen to them. But with the purchase by V/U and the limitations (three songs, no pay for play, etc...) the shine quickly faded. Sad to see it go, but I really think that it died a long time ago, just that no one told them to shut off the lights. Gotta make sure I take a screen shot for old time sakes.
Expose is nice. Good eye candy. Fast user switching works pretty good. But the real bottom line is the speed. Let's face it, the real drawback of X has always been it was just dog slow. Just booting back into 9 was a reminder of how slow X was. Panther is faster on my daughters G3 ibook, my dual G4 and tibook. Is it worth a 130 bucks? Yes. With the cevat: Only if I didn't have to pay a hundred and thirty bucks last year.
Pretty good review all in all. Not sure I completely agree with his finding on the finder. But I do agree that Apple seems to be fumbling around looking for something that clicks on the desktop.
I've been a subscriber for close to two years. I supported them because it seemed like a fair plan. And lets face it, most of the music on emusic wasn't for the "average" music consumer. I sort of looked at the site as 10 bucks a month for access to the worlds largest cut-out bin. It was good for me because I like blues, jazz and folk music. If you are into contemporary music, forget it. Needless to say, I'll be canceling my sub. I'd rather use itunes if I'm going to be gouged. At least it "works." Half the time on emusic the download manager would just not work, downloading partial files or nothing at all. I give this service 6 months to completely disappear from the radar. Who's going to pay this fee for the music they have? No one.
If the truth be known, I'm a folk music nut. I put all the folk music stuff in that folder because of my fondness for calling the folk folks... "folk nazi's"
I thought it was amusing when I surfed over to the Post to read the article there was an ad for "Windows 2003 Server" on the page. I had to take a screen shot. If you want it it's here --> http://johnford.net/images/windows_ad01.jpg
Japanese news sources have gone on record that the catastrophic power failure that has stricken New York and other major metropolitan areas in the Eastern U.S. have nothing to do with Godzilla. Sources in Japan are claiming that Godzilla was safe on Monster Island and the hard stomping lizard monster was not involved in the blackout.
According to one spokesman at the JGL news service, Gogi Asobi, "Godzilla and all of the monsters, including Mothra and King Kong were all safe behind our defenses on Monster Island." This has ended speculation earlier in the day that either terrorism or Godzilla had been behind the blackout.
Rumors started flying shortly after the blackout that there was a possible link between Al-Qaeda and Godzilla when black smoke in the shape of a mosque were seen billowing from a power plant at 14th Street and Avenue C in Manhattan. Eyewitnesses had reported that at the same time the head of Godzilla could be seen in the East River, and that in fact he could be seen holding a shoulder mounted surface to air missile. New York Mayor Blooberg could not be reached for comment.
That entire scene was just embarrassing. I felt embarrassed for the filmmakers, I wanted to hide. The entire "rave in Zion" scene was just embarrassing. Oh my god... awful.
This is the problem. TiVo works because there is content worth recording. I can't possible imagine what anyone would use a TiVo radio device for. Music formats offer nothing at 2 pm on Monday that you can't get at 3 am on Thrusday. A radio format in Tulas sounds the same as it does in Orlando. Just ask yourself... when was the last time you thought to yourself, "wow I missed that show on the radio!" It doesn't happen. Because you know that whenever you turn it on it's the same thing. Over and over. In order for the technology to mean anything you would have to have content to make it meaningfull. I can't think of any. In fact, I load up my Ipod because I know what's on the radio and I now have 5 or 10 gigs of something different. No content... no device.
Besides... didn't command audio already try this?
This is a gadget in search of a reason to exist... and there isn't one.
I personally like emusic. But it does have a really oddball selection. If you are big on jazz... it's great. Just about everything Coltrane and Parker ever recorded. I personally like traditional music. Just tons of bluegrass, blues and the like. Just yesterday the Blind Lemmon Jefferson 4 disc box set went up on-line. Well worth the 10 bucks a month for me. However, if you?re looking for the big chart toppers of today, it's not for you. Plus... no drm. I look at emusic this way... for 10 bucks a month I have access to the worlds biggest cut out bin. Not a bad deal all in all, and no DRM. I personally think we should support this type of endeavor.

Michael Moore is the Leni Riefenstahl of the 21st century.
Actually I use theirs for peer to peer. No one traces the pron. Now who's silly

Geeze.. I'm glad they sent me an email that "the couldn't find my account." They want a hundred bucks to resurrect it. you gotta be freekin kidding.

I can see the ad slogans now:
"Music, Pictures and Video! And it won't fit in your pocket! What do you want to lug around today?"
I'll pull out my Newton for a minute and remember how cool it was, yet I still hated to lug the thing around. Obvious.

Not a problem. I steal all my melodies from traditional, public domain songs anyway!

Well if you really must know, it's for pop music news. I read it only because I have to. (for the job you know)
