    It might be an awkward combo, but one option would be to use standard gamepad controls, and then read relative shoulder/torso movement once you're in a position to lean.

    For some people with mental illness or certain genetic predispositions, marijuana can trigger the onset of schizophrenia. And once it's triggered, there is no going back. It's only for a small portion of the population, but it is still a potential risk.

    It isn't just Western religion that has blood on its hands. The East has its own, just in different amounts and for different reasons. For example. They have also been equally as capable at fostering sexism and racism, among other things.

    ...Sorry, couldn't help myself. Even the less bleeding-edge games (indie, casual, downloadables) are mostly on PC, aren't they? I know more are seeing Mac releases, but I haven't heard much on Linux versions.

    On the other hand, if it isn't in any way better than the alternatives, then why did they bother creating it?

    So that John Q. MySpace User who doesn't know enough about antivirus software to go looking for AVG or Avast will essentially have it delivered to his doorstep? Some protection is better than none, and people who know the least about security issues are the most at risk, really.

    The coolness factor of the experience itself is definitely there, but it won't ever catch on unless the displays are extremely lightweight, unintrusive (regular pair of glasses unintrusive), and hi-res. But companies don't want to invest in advancing the technology, because the demand isn't there. Thus the catch-22 that's kept HMDs relegated to a niche market of enthusiasts with lots of disposable income.

    Releasing a consumer-friendly HMD right now would be as likely as releasing the iPhone in 1998, or the DS. IMO if it were to ever catch on, it would be in the future when the needed technologies have become advanced enough and cheap enough on their own, and some company has the idea to "go retro" and combine them into a consumer-friendly HMD.
