  5. Corporations should not pay taxes on profits on Facebook Paid 0.3% Taxes On $1.34 Billion Profits · · Score: 5, Interesting

Making corporations paying taxes on profits is double taxation and should not be done. Rather the profits should pass through to the owners (investors) and then the investors should pay taxes as if that was their earned income. Any retained earnings by the corporation (profits not passed through to investors) should be taxed as if it were earned income. This includes paying SS, Medicare, Medicate, workman's comp, federal, state and local income taxes.

While we're at it lets eliminate all the loopholes, subsidies and deductibles on the personal income taxes as well.

  6. This is good on Amazon: Authors Can't Review Books · · Score: 1

This is good. I don't want to read reviews by experts e.g., authors. I want to read reviews by other readers. I find the reviews on Amazon very helpful. They must be taken with a teaspoon of salt - actually read the reviews rather than just looking at the star ratings. Often there are garbage reviews both 5 star and 1 star. Sift out the chaff and there is good actual user reviews.

Actually, Coward, I live in Vermont where we are not required to register our guns, can carry concealed weapons and have the lowest per capita and total gun crimes in the nation. In fact, lower than many nations that ban gun ownership.

Published lists like this are a big reason to not have gun registration laws.

Given that you are a coward you are demonstrating exactly why this is an issue. If you want to have credibility, try using your real name.

Nice of the newspaper to publish a shopping list for bad guys. Now criminals will know exactly which houses to rob so as to get guns that won't be traceable to them. This is very bad.

This is not news. Only people who have never created would think that everything can be scheduled. The reality is things take longer and hurdles come up. That is part of the creative process of bringing products to market. If you want on-time-shipping then stick with stuff you can go to the store and pick off the shelf. Kickstarter is about innovation and creating new things. Dose of reality.

  14. The real solution to this patent mess... on Samsung Drops European Injunction Requests Against Apple · · Score: 1

The real solution to this patent mess is to completely eliminate all patenting.

A second best solution would be a return to the original idea that patents are for very limited times and then move into the public domain. Adjusting for market lifespan changes that should be about two years.

A third best, and more likely scenario, is to put everything under FRAND like rules. All patents must be licensed to anyone in a fair manner after a period of two years from the original patent filing.

Let's stop enriching the lawyers and get back in the business of innovation and production of great products.

  16. Tasers are like Neutron Bombs on New Hampshire Cops Use Taser On Woman Buying Too Many iPhones · · Score: 1

Cops like their tasers way too much. Over here in Vermont they tasered a man to death who was no threat. Of course, they also use machine guns for that purpose too in other cases here in Vermont so it isn't just tasers it is the attitude of the cops. Our beloved government then defends the cops and lets them off scott free. We've had six cases like this in the last couple of years - that's a lot for such a small state with such a peaceful population. The problem with the tasers is the cops view them as 'non-lethal' when in fact they're killing people with them.

I've bought and sold a lot of land. I owned the mineral rights and water rights to every single property. Out west, yes, much of the water and mineral rights are held separately, but that is a small part of the country.
