In other news Bloomberg blames women wearing revealing cloths for getting raped. "They should cover themselves up head-to-toe to prevent men from lusting after them." Bloomberg says. He goes on to suggest "if they were fatter and ugly then they wouldn't get raped, its their own fault. Eat more sugary super sized sodas!" In other news, sales of black cloth up.
I wish Apple and all OS developers and maintainers would take this that seriously. This is a big issue. Old software should continue to operate despite changes to the OS. This is Apple's greatest failing, even worst than their patented greed.
Making corporations paying taxes on profits is double taxation and should not be done. Rather the profits should pass through to the owners (investors) and then the investors should pay taxes as if that was their earned income. Any retained earnings by the corporation (profits not passed through to investors) should be taxed as if it were earned income. This includes paying SS, Medicare, Medicate, workman's comp, federal, state and local income taxes.
While we're at it lets eliminate all the loopholes, subsidies and deductibles on the personal income taxes as well.
This is good. I don't want to read reviews by experts e.g., authors. I want to read reviews by other readers. I find the reviews on Amazon very helpful. They must be taken with a teaspoon of salt - actually read the reviews rather than just looking at the star ratings. Often there are garbage reviews both 5 star and 1 star. Sift out the chaff and there is good actual user reviews.
Actually, Coward, I live in Vermont where we are not required to register our guns, can carry concealed weapons and have the lowest per capita and total gun crimes in the nation. In fact, lower than many nations that ban gun ownership.
Published lists like this are a big reason to not have gun registration laws.
Given that you are a coward you are demonstrating exactly why this is an issue. If you want to have credibility, try using your real name.
Nice of the newspaper to publish a shopping list for bad guys. Now criminals will know exactly which houses to rob so as to get guns that won't be traceable to them. This is very bad.
It just so happens there is exactly the application you need. It's called the original all natural boob tube. Round, soft to the touch, a simple circular universal interface with a single button that also dispenses nutritious drink. They come in matching pairs with virtually every mother.
I loved the weather this year. It was our best year yet. If you're from the north country you'll appreciate global warming. Thank you to all you SUV drivers!
This is not news. Only people who have never created would think that everything can be scheduled. The reality is things take longer and hurdles come up. That is part of the creative process of bringing products to market. If you want on-time-shipping then stick with stuff you can go to the store and pick off the shelf. Kickstarter is about innovation and creating new things. Dose of reality.
The real solution to this patent mess is to completely eliminate all patenting.
A second best solution would be a return to the original idea that patents are for very limited times and then move into the public domain. Adjusting for market lifespan changes that should be about two years.
A third best, and more likely scenario, is to put everything under FRAND like rules. All patents must be licensed to anyone in a fair manner after a period of two years from the original patent filing.
Let's stop enriching the lawyers and get back in the business of innovation and production of great products.
This is why I don't use cloud/web apps and specifically don't use Google products. If I'm using a tool to get my work done I don't want the maker suddenly yanking it or even features out from under me.
Cops like their tasers way too much. Over here in Vermont they tasered a man to death who was no threat. Of course, they also use machine guns for that purpose too in other cases here in Vermont so it isn't just tasers it is the attitude of the cops. Our beloved government then defends the cops and lets them off scott free. We've had six cases like this in the last couple of years - that's a lot for such a small state with such a peaceful population. The problem with the tasers is the cops view them as 'non-lethal' when in fact they're killing people with them.
Yuck. I don't want my phone, iPod or other devices bending. This sounds like it is going to be more fragile and less long lived. This sounds like more of the disposable society. Yuck.
I want durability. I want to buy a device and use it for years, pass it on in the family and have others be able to keep using it. I want devices that are durable and last, taking real world abuse.
I buy local when possible but that is often not an option because things just aren't available. Local bookstores are sparse in number and content. It's a multi-hour drive to most things so that's not local. Online shopping is more efficient and has more options.
7,000 volts is not a high voltage fence. Our farm fences are 10,000 volts. It's not the voltage that will kill you though, it is the amperage that does you in. For this reason the fences are high voltage and low amperage. It hurts. However, if you're determined you can grab ahold of the fence and hang on right through the shocks. I've done it many times when needed.
I'm very dubious about this. I don't spend much time looking at my food. I'm looking at what I'm reading or my fellow diners, generally family, whom I'm conversing with. My eyes spend very little time on my food.
Sounds to me like you need to read your titles before you buy property. It also sounds like you're buying in the wrong places. If you buy without the rights to all that is on your land then that is your own choice. It doesn't change the fact that most land still has its mineral and water rights.
"In almost every case a previous property owner has already sold the mineral and water rights. Especially in the cities and suburbs. Or your legal jurisdiction may not recognize such rights."
Wrong. I the vast majority of cases the title to the land includes the rights to the minerals and water.
I've bought and sold a lot of land. I owned the mineral rights and water rights to every single property. Out west, yes, much of the water and mineral rights are held separately, but that is a small part of the country.
He is creating job security for himself since only he can maintain his code... You, who write perfect code, can be replaced.

I worked full time while I got my degrees.
NOBODY has ever asked me for my degrees.
All they care about is that I can solve their problems.
"WE DO NOT BREAK USERSPACE!"

It's a start to the end of greed. They'll try again, of course.
Slight correction: Apple hasn't lost any of the patents. They are merely under review.

Which is why a casual gamer like me looks at a game with an on-line component and says "I'll pass".
Agreed. Especially if the game only allows company servers. A game with open servers is more interesting and more likely to be long lived.

No, I don't underestimate it at all. I'm keenly aware of the data volume and technical issues. It is a lot more feasible than you guess.
Time to change hosts.
