And we will become the popular aliens in nearly all alien movies in which the aliens are resource-grubbing "bad guys". We'll eventually use up all our resources on Earth and the Moon, and the next logical step will be other mineral/resource-rich planets. Of course given our current perspective, we probably wouldn't think of attacking a planet to take it's resources, but it's not that far fetched given the Iraq situation. Something to think about.
Yep, I have a 2-port Linksys KVM, and the only solution I've found is to use the ps/2 protocol instead of imps/2 (likewise with gpm). The wheel works just fine in win2k, go figure. The KVM is stripping something that makes XFree not like to use it as an imps/2.
Just a minor nit pick. Those of us who graduated from Penn State hate it when people call it "Penn". Penn == University of Pennsylvania, the Ivy League school.
Aww, poor AT&T. NOT.

When I'm pinging 300ms to my GATEWAY on their internet service, I somehow don't feel bad for AT&T. If and when they start providing quality braodband, I'll care that people are stealing their TV service. After all, the internet people are paying them $50/mo for near-56k-like pings and constant speed problems in many areas.
I have had the xbox since it was released, and it has not 'overheated' once. The only time it did anything out of the ordinary was with the Obi-wan game, and I've heard reports from a couple other people of seeing the occasional fluke with the game. So please don't make generalized statements claiming the xbox overheats all the time, when in fact, I think you'll notice that the production xbox is very, very stable.
You're absolutely correct, and I'm sure we all remember how poor the game availability was for the PS2 at first. The xbox had a surprisingly good set of debut games, but it's still difficult to compete with a platform that already has many well-known titles.
Keep in mind, also, that FF XI will be available on the xbox (not sure about the game cube), and GTA3 is slated for the xbox as well. Give them some time to port it, I think you'll find it is worth it (for at least the true dolby 5.1 surround and improved graphics.)
I have block sync...but I cannot get a dhcp address, nor does setting up a static ip (which used to work before) do me much good. I can ping my gateway, but nothing gets past it.
Exactly, and marketing based on relative numbers is just plain stupid. What are they going to do, change the conversion ratio when Intel produces a chip that closes or expands the 1.14 multiplier AMD is using to set these product names? So a 1400 Athlon will be called an Athlon 2600? Idiotic.
I was previously a Comcast @Home customer, and late last year pings for myself and people in this area approached 2 SECONDS. Needless to say, we complained and complained, only to get blamed for having our network settings incorrect. I'm not sure how many times I "checked my network configuration" for Tier1 support. Anyway, they finally bit the bullet and bought a new node to support the demand that they had underestimated, and it was fine (after 3 months of complaints and a TV station picking up the story). Then AT&T hit the scene and the last week I've been getting 90% packet loss, and investigation shows other people on my subnet having similiar problems, though they still maintain my cable modem "is bad". So from personal experience, I can summarize both companies with: "They suck."
Just my 5 cents...I'd hope other areas haven't had this many problems.
My mom used to make bi-yearly visits to the far east on business, and one of her visits always occurred on my birthday. So one year, she brings back these dinosaur toys that "transform" into robots...I got Grimlock and Slag, but not the cheesy red-horned ones that were sold in the U.S., they had gold horns, and MUCH more spectacularly detailed bodies (including decals). That's what started my addiction for transformers...I was the first one to have them anywhere I knew of. No one had even heard of them yet when my mom brought them back!
For those of us who have actually used an HP 48G or GX or any HP calculator for that matter, we know they rule! I can calculate things more quickly on an HP 48G than any bozo with a TI 85 or 92.
The blinking could be a side effect of not loading the "dbe" module in "Section \"Modules\"";) Try adding a line Load "dbe" (double buffering extensions) in XF86Config. I've read a couple of places that this will fix the flickering issues in some applications.
I was having stability problems with the pre release2 debs of XFree4. It was giving me a SiG15/SIG11 often. I finally found out it was running WindowMaker (or one of the dock apps, not sure which) that was doing it. I went back to gnome/enlightenment and haven't crashed yet. The debs seem pretty darn stable imho. I was getting impatient with Branden for the slowness, but I must say the updates were good and often for the pre-v2 packages and I'm glad they're stable as a result of his patience and time/effort.
And what do you think your student computer fees go for? And I hate to tell you, but college is only 4 years (ideally, anyway). Get ready for a rude awakening when you get into the real world and don't have access to that kind of bandwidth.

Freudian slip by a person/persons who are AMD-biased?

Why not let your redneck cousin kidnap him and bring him to you in a big red bow! That way he can see the error of his ways and give you a huge bonus.
Ok, so aparently plastics aren't sweet enough already? :)
Adding more things to entice ants is going to keep the Orkin man busy.
I wouldn't trust it at all, especially not a .0 release.
:)
Uhm, it's not a Redhat release, don't be so pessimistic
That should be 48MB Intel StrataFlash Flash, not ROM. After all, what good would 48MB of under-utilized, read-only memory be? :)
Can you get DSL over this sucker?

Not to mention the increased 256k of L2 cache. That will help performance seemingly.
Uhh how about a large TV (30" plus). That makes all the difference.

It's called a queue.
Yep, I use the Shuttle AV40, works great!
The performance is almost that of an RDRAM solution, but much cheaper.
I assume you meant substantial?
