I don't see what wrong with them recording this. It's like driving through a neighborhood in the next state over and scanning to see what radio stations they have.
Maybe Google was going to include the location of free Wifi Hotspots on the map. This would be a nice feature. They would have to filter the private netowrks from free services and this would be difficult. Maybe that is why it never happened.
Does this sound possible? What if we take some HABs and tether them to an amature rocket. Might it be possible to get into space on the cheap? Maybe we can crash into the moon or something.
Why not install all the drivers for all the different machines you have into one box and then sysprep the machine. Now use clonezilla and save an image of that drive. It should now work with all the machines in the office.
As far as linux on the desktop, I don't mess with that foolishness. My servers use it and it's great! My cluster uses it and it's great. My desktops...nope.
They're about 120K for a 5 axis and start about 55K for a 3 axis. Then you have all the tooling required which can add up fast. Then you have the software needed to program these like mastercam at 5K per seat and delmia/catia at about 16K per seat.
From the girls point of view this is a bit unfair. Guys will lie and do anything to trick a girl into a quick F*%^. So don't mess around with skanky guys. Girls already try to do this.
I like what I've seen of the iPAD. I wouldn't buy one as anything Mac is too expensive and I don't like their os. I will wait until a PC vendor starts making a similar device for half the price running windows and all the software I like to use. The overal concept is a good one and I have to give the mac guys credit for being real innovators. I think the ipad will read all my pirated E-books quite nicely. Most of them are technical in nature and don't fit the small fiction novel formfactor. My books are textbook sized.
I've set all 250 computers in my Dept. default search engine to Google. I think Evil is just a part of human nature and it takes real effort to not be evil. I applaud Google for standing up to China and forsaking monetary gains for purity of ideals.
I like the idea of these scanners and think they will make it more difficult for the crazies to do stupid stuff. My concern however is with radiation exposure. How much exposure is there from a single scan. What about all those frequent fliers and what about the screeners themselves. Next time I travel I'm bringing my gieger counter.
You're assuming the men in the big suits are smart enough to make that connection. They also have a local monopoly so the only alternative consumers have to cable is satellite. Not exactly they competive evironment that makes companies compete for their lunch.
Don't blame the US as a whole. This is the type of stuff Republicans come up with. Republicans are always spoiling for a figh while the Democrats try the diplomatic route.
I worked in a warehouse for a summer working 70-80 hours a week. I handled cardboard boxes 16-18 hours a day. After the first week my fingertips were worn smooth. I had no fingerprints and I found it more difficult to pick things up. I ended up buying some gloves with little rubber knobs and they helped. My fingerprints grew back and I could pick up boxes again. From them on I wore gloves with some type of gripping aid. They usually only lasted about a week.
It doesn't matter IE 8 is listed as a critcal update and when the user goes to install updates they will always have to deselect it. Microsoft would have put up a bigger fight if they did not have another way of pushing their software onto the desktop.
I don't care for the M type IBM keyboards; they're just a little too bulky for me. I've been using my IBM keyboard since 95 it probably a model or two newer than the M type. It's just so well designed. I've spilled coffee in it, dropped it etc. and it still works great. I've taken it apart several times and cleaned the coffee out;) It's like driving a fine automobile, it just oozes quality.
Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892-1984) about the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group.
When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
Then they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
I did not speak out;
I was not a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out for me.
While Marlowe make be making a joke...he does have a good point. High school science is too low risk and unexciting. Have the kids work out force vectors, combustion rate and all the science behind explosives. You will undoubtedly find some very interested participants.
A home should not cost more than 2X to 3X gross yearly income. If the median home price in an area is more than 2X to 3X the median family income, they are priced too high. Right now, home prices still have a long ways to go. If they don't, families will continue to make interest payments to banks for thirty years instead of fifteen, which adds no value to the economy. If these same people now start taking pay reductions, this will only serve to increase the distance prices must fall.
Why cant we come up with a universal driver system. Write a single device info file. The os reads that file and gets all the information it needs to work with that device. Then OS version, or OS type is unimportant. Just my 2/100
I don't see why anyone would be upset with Microsoft including useful programs with there operating systems. I use IE and WMP. I Agree that they should be uninstallable though. As long as Microsoft doesn't force anyone to use the software I'mm cool with the extras. Hey Microsoft, wana throw in a free office suite, usenet app, programming language, CD/DVD burning app, and PDF creator? I'm tired of paying for all these things. I'd ask for some anti-malware/anti-viri software but I know how good you guys are at security so I wont bother.
Get a Magneto optical drive. These are designed for archiving and I know the government uses them for data storage. I've seen drives on ebay for $20 -$50 and media for a few bucks ea.
What about not only putting the more cores on die bit also RAM and the chipset. As said the motherboard would be different from anything we've seen so far. Would this result in any meaninful gains compaired to the cost and limites on options?

It would make more sense to network the breaker box and monitor each circuit. This could show what each room and each major appliance is consuming.

I always thought religion was a result of brain damage. ;)
Welcome to GATTACA! It's both scarry and inspiring at the same time.

If this had been me, I'd be out buying fetilizer and diesel fuel with what little money I had left over. ;)

Well said Kyle
