My usage would go something like this:
Open up gimp, open a file, gimp crashes.
The windows version I'm using (gimp 2) has some serious stability issues.
Anyone remember when people were upset at the stereotypes Apu was based on, and Matt Groening and others said, "what are you talking about? Apu's not Indian, he's not anything, and the Kwik-e-mart is not a real place?" And then they had all those episodes where Apu was indeed Indian, and now the Kwik-e-mart admittedly the same thing as a 7-11?
I do.
Actually my MPD24 worked in windows without a driver.
Re camperdave: the next music controller sound protocol to replace MIDI seems to be OSC, OpenSound Control. The article actually mentions it, several apps support it already and it's capable of networking over the internet. Wikipedia's page is more descriptive than their official one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenSound_Control
I've seen a couple of these pop up, but I'm still waiting for one that's mac compatible and big enough to cover a 20" or 24" screen. Then I can use it on my iMac. Sure the thing's heavy but if I took the stand off I'd gladly use the giant glowing flat slab of mac in my lap.
Did their marketing demo page just get slashdotted, or is the problem unrelated? It's down for me:

Also, I think it's funny that this story is tagged with 'stool', the only one tagged as such.
It's a little big and heavy, but I bet the three accelerometers and bluetooth capability (maybe with a computer controlling it via bluetooth) would have tremendous potential for piloting small aircraft.
Well if you had a plane made out of this low-reflectivity substance, wouldn't you still see motors, wires, weapons, gas tanks, wheels, machinery, and pilots floating through the air?
This would really suck if it's true.
So far it's not. I have a nokia 6800 and opera mini still works great.
I used to pay $19.99/mo to have 'total internet' so I could run third party apps.
However half of them wouldn't run anyway (due to java incompatibilities on my old phone). So I downgraded to $4.99/mo T-zones, but to my delight I discovered apps like Opera mini still worked even though the plan is for "web and email".
One of my great joys on this phone (besides getting fark and news of the weird streams when I'm bored) is going to getjar.com to get 3rd party java apps that work on my phone. As impressive as the iphone is, I'm not going to buy one until it's cracked to run homebrew apps.
I'd be horrified if opera mini stopped working for me, but so far it hasn't.
But I was finally about to reply to the second round of questions to become a google answer researcher!
Ok that's not entirely true. I did make it to the second round in 2002 but I gave up because the questions they asked were so hard. The address of the questions they asked was
http://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=applyqu estions
but it doesn't seem to work anymore. I can't find 'em on google cache or archive.org either. Anyone have them? They paralleled the open questions google would sometimes ask engineers when they were looking for people to hire.
I agree. At first I thought this would be an interesting way to render 3d objects with photos mapped onto them, but this software only produces useful 'facts' about a photo, not an extensive set of data on everything in the photo. Sure it may be able to tell how tall a house is in the distance, but put a car visible in front or behind it and it has no idea how tall the car is without another point of reference.
My BoA sitekey is "sitekeyisdumb", because it really is. I hate it. I chose a picture of two people hanging from a parachute. I like to picture them stuck hanging somewhere, similar to how I feel when going through the sitekey process, dumb and stuck. Sometimes I'll fail my own sitekey security questions when it doesn't recognize my IP address.
Now that you have all that additional "secure" security info from me, try hacking my account. Good luck. It's totally useless.
I started a blog a while ago called http://problemstosolve.com/about/problems to solve, with the same purpose of cataloging solved problems, along with recording their associated methods and experiences on the internet. My goal has been to open this site up to a large user base that can tag and solve their problems collectively, and help each other solve theirs. Right now it's just a wordpress blog though; if anyone feels like contributing (I can give you a wordpress login) or helping the site get set up (work with me on a new PHP interface) and turn it into a community resource please contact me at jordan314 at yahoo dot com.
As I wrote on my blog(http://problemstosolve.com/wii/wario-ware-smo oth-moves-made-me-think-my-wiimote-was-broken), smooth moves made me think my wiimote was broken because it disables all but one of your remotes.
It's a fun game though. I'd agree that it and rayman are awesome games, but I am looking forward to more non-minigames to see what this thing can do. My favorite titles - sports, rayman, wario - are all minigame format games, and mario party will be too. Maybe Paper Mario will quench my thirst.
I telecommuted for my old job. While I didn't get promoted, it didn't hurt me applying for a new job.
They did ask questions about it, including would I be comfortable working away from home again, but I got the job.

There's also some stiff competition from grep and find.

Not a problem if the PDA is also attached to the plane...

My apologies, next time I'll RTFA
This is not really a hoax. The CDDB is open and can be contributed to by anyone. This is about as newsworthy as an inaccurate article on wikipedia.
Isn't it obvious? Kill All Humans
yeah seriously, you tease? http://sourceforge.net/search/?type_of_search=soft &words=tracker
