What really bothers me is that someone can believe that working so many hours is productive. I doubt it would have made much of a difference if he limited himself to 50 hours.
If you work more 10 hours in a day, you'll probably spend the next morning correcting your mistakes.
You're a funny lot, you americans. Most don't turn out to vote (those who do, elect Bush, Arnold, etc) and are always regarding your governments with distrust.
Why don't you just participate? Just voting would be a fine start!
It happened by proxy, which is a lot worse. You didn't have the balls to face each other, so you decided to kill lots of poor people in Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan.
The russians have the Kuznetzov rockets, that the americans didn't even think were possible and that they now import from russia.
So maybe the US's lead was not so clear.
I also have the impression that the russians were better at the science, whereas the americans had (have) a more trial-and-error approach. But that might just be an impression...
This might work better on drugs. Someone could put out some cocaine and heroin with something lethal (or rather, something that kills immediately) in it. Then stupid teenagers would think twice before experimenting.
The US might not allow it own citizens to work in such conditions, but it certainly knows how to profit from doing it to citizens from other countries.
Stop reading the NY Times and watching CNN and go read "Open Veins of Latin America" by Eduardo Galeano.
I couldn't agree more and would like to add that most people considered 'normal' have a very hard time interacting with geeks and will frequently avoid them.
People just seem afraid of what's different.
I know a few Physics and Maths professors with whom it is very difficult to keep a conversation (usually because they take a looong time to develop their ideas). I make an effort to listen because I know I can expect interesting ideas from them.
If children were simply taught to make the best out of interacting with different personalities, maybe we wouldn't view many of these traits as 'disorders'.

Where does that leave movies with subtitles? :-)
...go rent Dark City to compensate.
So int the US no.1 would fail rapidly and
there'll never be no.4?
Now I see why they are such a threat to
the 'civilized' world.
Do you still loose if you are referring

It looks suspiciously similar to 1,100 * ~14

of 1 G5 Powermac).
There's no science in that!

The worst part of it is that sharing
will probably continue to be illegal.
So we'll end up paying for something we
are not allowed to do.

Come to Brazil!
All laws, stupid or not, are simply ignored.
Specially if you consider all the nice
fellas in prison who can make him teach
them some nice tricks or else...
Ill work in Brazil, by the beach, for
half of that...send in your offers...

money, scientists work for the military
for money, people leave Cuba for money...
