    What really bothers me is that someone can
    believe that working so many hours is productive.
    I doubt it would have made much of a difference
    if he limited himself to 50 hours.

    If you work more 10 hours in a day, you'll probably spend the next morning correcting your mistakes.

    elect Bush, Arnold, etc) and are always
    regarding your governments with distrust.

    com from?

    It looks suspiciously similar to 1,100 * ~14
    gigaflops (which is the measured performance
    of 1 G5 Powermac).

    There's no science in that!

    The russians have the Kuznetzov rockets, that
    the americans didn't even think were possible
    and that they now import from russia.

    So maybe the US's lead was not so clear.

    I also have the impression that the russians
    were better at the science, whereas the americans
    had (have) a more trial-and-error approach. But
    that might just be an impression...

    I couldn't agree more and would like to add that most people considered 'normal' have a very hard time interacting with geeks and will frequently avoid them.

    People just seem afraid of what's different.

    I know a few Physics and Maths professors with whom it is very difficult to keep a conversation (usually because they take a looong time to develop their ideas). I make an effort to listen
    because I know I can expect interesting ideas from them.

    If children were simply taught to make the best
    out of interacting with different personalities, maybe we wouldn't view many of these traits as 'disorders'.
