If your daughter has a degree in mathametics then she should have no trouble learning and becoming a programmer. Success in life is correlated with tenacity. Not with the level of education.
If your not depressed about being in prison you have a problem. prison is not supposed to have concern for your high values. That is why its a punishment.

My commute by car is 37.9 miles each way to my job in San Francisco. According to Google Maps, it costs me $22.18 to drive into San Francisco each way, not counting the Bay Bridge toll at 4.00, plus parking at 10-20 dollars a day.
This adds up $68.36 round trip to drive to my job in San Francisco per day.
BART takes 20 minutes longer and costs me 10 dollars per round trip. Which one do you think I take?
I love posts like this. I am so glad the poster had all the information NASA officials have in front of them. Plus a distinguished panel of experts to advise them. One minute we say NASA is great for having the foresight to put Hubble up their. Then we rag on them when they think the money could get more bang for the buck somewhere else.
You aren't using their service. You aren't using their bandwidth. You aren't using their capactiy. You aren't cheating them of anything. Ad blockers are cheating the owner of a web site.
Why do people feel it should be against the law to make a living. Could Slashdot exist without the ad's? No it couldn't. By blocking ads you are making it harder for people to make a living doing something they have worked hard at.
I am sure the idea that Appple will not allow running Mac OS X on anything other than an Apple Mac will last about 1 day after some enterprising hackers get a hold of the OS.
Plus, I have heard Phill Schiller open his trap more then once and end up eat his foot later. E.g. "We don't target the enterprise." Can we say x-serve?
Apple may not bundle the device drivers with the OS. But that wont stop people.
What would be cool is if when people left a VMWare (or similiar tool) session was launched running CHAOS. Then you could easily have all your Windows desktops added to the cluster!
I have spent 3500 bucks on services from Verizon over the last 2 years. They still would only give me the new Motorola v710 for 250 bucks with a new 2 year contract. Any other carrier would have given me a much better deal.
The only way we are going to get Verizon to change is to stop buying Verizon.
The reason I and other people have stuck with Verizon is that there network is the biggest and most complete BY FAR. Their customer service generally rocks too. Perhaps now with AT&T Wirless, and Cingluar combining they will be able to compete on these points.
I think i am going to give this phone to my wife and go sign up with Cingular. So I can stop giving Verizon my money.
Actually the kernel in Mac OS X is a merge between mach and FreeBSD. The networking stack takes a ton of code from FreeBSD. I remember at WWDC 2 years ago where they were talking about how the kernel networking stack was largely derived from 4.3 and and had even taken some code from 5.0.
Not many people use Mac OS X for routing. But people do use it for VPN servers, and NAT servers on smaller networks. Even though they would do better with just buying a one-hundred dollar SOHO router.
Using software to circumvent DRM is a akin to using GPL'ed code in a closed source project. Its all about the freedom to choose how we want our copyrighted works used.

Actually I think most peoples problem was that the US didn't exhaust all diplomatic measures before going to war. We slap every other country in the world in the face, and then turn around and ask for there help....I am sure the president will propose that every school child be taught this philosiphy.
Nobody liked Saddam, but he was contained. The US can't afford (especially alone) to go after every despot in the world (Iran, Libya, Zimbabwei, North Korea.)
And also, where are all those WMD's the country most supposedly packed with?

I would rather get locked into iTunes and own the music. Then get locked into Yahoo and rent the music.

The more interesting thing for me is: Will these enhancements make it to Mac OS X?
As far as I am concerned, the closer Mac OS X under the hood, makes itself closer to FreeBSD the better.
