I think that it depends on the languages. Google translate does fairly well between English and Danish because they have similar word orders. The software can just translate each word individually and in order, and the result will be somewhat coherent.
Although written Danish can sort of be understood by Anglophones, spoken Danish is totally brutal. This app could make be really useful in that way.
I always ask them "Why? Do these break a lot?" If they answer yes, then I tell them I don't want it anymore. It's fun to listen to them try to convince you to get the plan, but at the same time reassure you that it's a good product in the first place.
Capital of Florida? That's a pretty obscure piece of information for a "non-American" (what a term by the way!!) to know. You might as well ask what the Kentucky state gemstone is.
Do you know what the capital of New Brunswick is? Prince Edward Island? Nunavut?...and Canadian provincial capitals tend to be important cities, unlike in the US.
Alberta has 28 ridings, and they're all going conservative. Nobody cares about you at this point in the election. I suggest you hurry up and separate, so you can save your annual $300 (!!) per capita in transfer payments.
People seem to have very distorted memories when it comes to Rae's government in the early 90s. The NDP took over just as the economy was heading into the worst recession since the great depression. His government did what pretty much every other government does in a recession - increase spending to break the cycle. I seriously doubt the Liberals would have done anything different. If Rae did anything wrong, it was to neglect his main support on the left with his wage cuts and mandatory unpaid vacation measures. Measures aimed at reducing the deficit.
Of course, once the voters put Mike Harris in power, he simply had 16,000 public servants laid off. 6 of one, half-dozen of the other.
That may be true in your experience, but not true in my experience in the Canadian Forces. Certain charges can be dealt with by a summary trial (limited punishment, unit-level) for lower ranks, while the same charges result in a court martial (much greater punitive power) for higher-ranking officers.
Also, the fine for negligent discharge of a weapon is a function of one's rank. If a general were to fire a mag of blanks accidentally, he would be on the hook for a small fortune.
There's a permanent F-18 detachment in Inuvik (409 sqn) that actually enforces our sovereignty in the north. The rangers just represent a cost-effective way of maintaining a government presence there... and the 303 is ideal for working in the extreme cold.
Learn about interval training and start doing it. Bike, run, whatever. Once you get used to it, really push yourself. Running at the same speed for an hour burns lots of calories, but doesn't increase your aerobic capacity much. Interval training does, and in doing so sets the stage for future weight loss. It's not much fun, but if you work hard, it will give you the best results.
Push ups and sit ups are good (and can be used as your active rest phase during interval training) but if you want to add muscle, you need to do resistance training. Focus on exercises that work large muscle groups, like squats, bench presses, dead lifts, and pull-ups. Get a personal trainer for an hour to show you how to do them properly.
Also, you're probably not eating often enough. Try to get 5 smaller meals per day, rather than 3 (or even worse, 2) big ones. Going without eating sends your metabolism down.
I totally agree. The first computer game I ever got for Christmas was
Gobliiins. The solutions to a lot of the puzzles were totally random, and I remember going around and punching random objects until something happened.
LucasArts did it right. (Although they went a little nuts with the ship rib in Fate of Atlantis) I still remember the moment while playing Day of the Tentacle when I realized that I could put the sweater in the dryer, feed it the thousands of quarters I just got, and then switch to the guy in the future who could pull the sweater out and it would fit the hamster perfectly. Pretty cool. If kids get their hands on well-written adventure games, I'm sure they'll come to appreciate them.
Your first point is not exactly true. The Spanish Revolution was a large-scale, successful example of anarchism. It was destroyed by force, so we don't know how far it might have gone.
People often say that anarchism requires a change in human nature, towards selflessness, away from consumerism, etc. It shouldn't be viewed as an obstacle. The whole point of anarchism is to foster such a change.
Agreed. Capitalism is a system where workers are controlled by management to work for the benefit of the owners. It is therefore inherently authoritarian.
Anarchism is a philosophy in which authority is always questioned, and in most cases, abolished. This is especially true of authority in the workplace, so I really don't see how the two are compatible.
It's funny that you bring up muppets. When I was a young kid I loved the first 3 muppet movies. (I'll add Muppets take Manhattan because I liked it) But when I saw Muppet Treasure Island when I was in high school, it didn't have the same effect. It all seemed so juvenile somehow.
I won't forgive Brian Henson for violating my childhood like that.
Not exactly. The F-22 fills the air superiority role primarily, replacing the F-15C. Bombing is secondary. The strike/fighter role, currently performed by hornets, harriers, and vipers, will be done by the F-35 C,B, and A models respectively. There are plans to have it replace the A-10 for CAS as well, but I can't see that happening. Ever.
This isn't about changing fundamental human behavior. It's about increasing transparency, which in turn will increase accountability. If a politician is held accountable by his constituents, it doesn't matter how greedy or ambitious he is.
...which can be countered by the slashdot effect. Post the link!

You already have some. I saw a few as I was driving through Michigan, but they don't know what double-doubles are.
More of a "+1 tragically funny" I guess. You can reinstall grub from a live cd.
It's likely that if you're celebrating one, you're not celebrating the other.

And it's Tallahase anyway.
... or fly an ejection seat aircraft.
Without revealing what operating system the PC 1000HE will include, Asus says the netbook will provide "fast bootup and shutdown times."
Looks like it comes with XP home
You would have made a killing off shorting just about any stock between July 26 and now, not just SIRI.
A constant stream of referendums. "The government is attempting to undermine your civil rights. Cancel or allow?"

assumption: poor people are poor because they are lazy.
conclusion: lazy people deserve to die.

Most things in here don't react too well to bullets.

Exactly. Deletionists want Wikipedia to be a paperless encyclopedia, while inclusionists want it to be better than an encyclopedia.
