I tend to be more on the secretive side because i like to keep my life separate from the inet. But some people are the opposite, they just can't get enough of them ON the inet.

I always tell people never put personal info on the net because ANYONE can find it. I was actually denied a job because i didn't state if i was Christian! The interview went great, i was able to do everything they asked for, but because i wouldn't answer if i had anything to do on sunday or with family, which i understood as asking about my religion in a not so very indirect way (asking about family values etc) they told me right then and their, "thanks but no thanks." hahaha

Anyhow, back to the point of how it can affect your life, say you are agnostic and are trying to work for a place in chino, CA that sells luxury spas, pools and other crap, and it turns out THESE are the SAME people who interviewed me. And then they find out that you openly post about your beliefs. That right there for THESE people would be enough to skip you too.

In short, i keep my two "lives" distinctly separate. My closest of friends know of both, and some because we've met on the inet and developed friendships that the inet couldn't contain. Wait that sounded non-hetero. We've hung out and gone on biker rides. But for the most part, most people don't know what i'm capable of - and thats a good thing, being a biker means most think i'm retarded! :D

For a long time people looked at me crazy when i'd tell them "i could hear the tv being on." But, this could also be a case. For me at least, it isn't too difficult to think that some people could be just as sensitive to RF signals, and most of us are oblivious to them.

If you start censoring all of these people, and they come up with these wonderful ideas for anime, maybe someday someone will get inspiration from it and apply it to the real world, created some truly awesome things.

It's sad people go out and put your info out on the web, it sucks that we need laws for it, but it also sucks when you over censor. There is no fine line here, nor a blurry one. It is more like a, i think it's called a phase solution or phase changing solution. Where you have 2 types of liquids distinctly separated. But just shake the bottle up a little and they diffuse into each other. Give it a while, and they'll separate once more. Unlike water and oil, which are always distinctly separate from each other, the phase solutions become one and then separate again. And this is how this problem seems to look like.

Hopefully they'll figure out the correct balance between the 2 ideas and the proper level of diffusion so everyone else in the world can follow their lead.

When you were born, you didn't even know how to roll onto your side! Now it's inconceivable for you not to be able to do that. Same thing with computers. Sure, it comes more naturally for some, but definitely not for all.

So when you expect windows, which has been geared for the non-tech people in need/want of a "PC," to be 2nd rate to linux, then you're way off base. Just think back to WHY linux came around. That's the two main groups of people you're dealing with.

Then take the side that (at least from my point of view) linux doesn't have enough uniformity to jump from one distro to the next and easily do the same things with the same software/setups. And you can't expect normal people really wanting to get into this.

But remember my point of view is skewed by BSD's because i've just found bsd to be so easy for me to use and learn about. Linux has been more difficult, and i've had to learn specific things about each one to do the same thing.

Hmm, i'll say the same thing about BSDs, but it hasn't been that hard to jump from fbsd, to netbsd to openbsd.

Anyways, ubuntu (although i've never run it) is making great strides and is helping to pave the path to nix -- which is great! But as a nix community we need to come together, and get it down to better than (easier than) windows. Windows blew up because anyone could sit down and do something on it, even if it's playing solitaire. Sure, that game sucks! But it's still something that gets people on it and using it. For too long the nix' been focused on other objectives, which is great for us the users. But not for those who find computing as difficult as it was for us to crawl.

You know, this is a good time to explain the difference between debit, credit and money orders/wire transfers!

Once money is taken from your savings, checking or money order/wire transfer, it's gone and can not be disputed (realistically, although nothing is impossible). And then even if you do prove fraud, you can be assed out and not get your money back - that is how it usually goes with cash!

But if you use any credit card, you have some fraud protection. From my experience, VISA is the best - they reimburse you first (immediately) and investigate second. If everything looks legit after they are done, nothing changes as far as you know. But if it looks like you are pulling fraud, they'll ask you to prove a LOT of things.

Next master card is the opposite, they like to investigate FIRST, THEN give you your money back. I have a problem with these guys because of town car service, basically they charged me twice even though once of their cars crashed on the way to pick me up. Anyhow, it took about 2 months to get anything done because what happened was that the person who could give me a refund was on vacation. When they got back, the person responsible was hard to get a hold of, and then it turns out it just never got done. Eventhough i had tried to take care of this like a nice person, it didn't work out. So i called master card and they said 1st of all, you took too long to report it. But they still tried investigating and DENIED my claim because they said i signed for both cars (pick up and drop off) even though i only signed once! So no more master card for me, i've closed all of my accounts with the since then.

American express and discover have different types of protection but i never have used them for these purposes. Anyways, you really have to be careful and pay attention to what you're doing, also no matter who you are you can always get scammed!

Most people are dumb asses! No really, check it out! It's like pedestrians. Sure, you think that they would stay on the sidewalk when there is a sidewalk available, but noooo they just HAVE to walk on the street, right?

Then you have people who drive fast and zig zag in and out of traffic. For what? To get wherever they are going faster? Like that ever works!

And this sort of behavior happens all the time in many ways, because people just don't think "oh, maybe if i did this a little different and i was a little more considerate, things would be better."

So that is what happening with this information overload. I personally think it's good to have so many sources of information. One of the cons is that not all of the information is going to be correct.

But having information too organized means that nothing would be overlapping and unless you know exactly what you are looking for, you wouldn't be able to find it.

I think wikipedia has a good model for organizing things. Although i don't think there is any one central group who produces most of the material, it might be good to say base it off of a group. Say the encyclopedia brittanica. And then the open community could edit the heck out of it and vote on "what is really correct." That way we have two sources.

Of course this is only talking about the inet and not other sources of distraction, but really that is the major source in my opinion because i don't know anyone who uses anything else to do so much in such a short amount of time except while watching tv and 'surfing' the channels to see whats on. Then it seems their ADD kicks in.

This is why i leave a lot of space between cars in front of me, especially in heavy traffic. Aside from helping traffic instead of making it worse, it also keeps stress down because you're always moving and you are stopping and going less often.

But, it is still worth pointing out a few things. In TFA i read, which might be different the army guys referred to the macs running on unix. It's disconcerting to me because you know, there was a big problem with the word unix itself, which is why FreeBSD was named FreeBSD.

Aside from that, i truly think it's bad for those who are dabbling with nix systems. Because they think linux is more secure because it's not windows, and its less used which "means hackers target it less." Thats stupid! Also, those who use BSD systems might think that (i doubt it).

Security through obscurity is the opposite of what we're (*nix's) all about. I was really happy that apple is using BSD as their base because of so many lame mac fans i personally know. They aren't lame because they're mac fans, they're lame because they think apple products are safer than windows or bsds/linux's because it's apple. They are the dummies who will fall victim to "well hardly anyone uses it so hackers can't hurt it." They also believe that there are no viruses for that platform as well.
