Tolkien was unclear on the nature of orcs.

If they're intelligent beasts that can talk, I'd say that's pretty good evidence that they can think. And if they can think, doesn't that make them people?

This is why we can't get dates... because we are too busy arguing about fine details of fictional characters that a single person made up, as if it somehow explains a broader topic called racism.

Seeing how I don't play WoW, but I do know how most other games work... are you sure it isn't both TCP and UDP?

Game traffic tends to work where: UDP handles non-important info, like state/location coordinates that get sent on a constant basis (because if/when lag happens, we no longer care where the person was 5 seconds ago, we just drop the packet anyways). TCP handles important info, like item drops/damage counts that get sent once and never change.

I don't know where "2 billion" came from but 800 million sounds about right.

According to the World Health Organization, hunger is the gravest single threat to the world's public health.[1]According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, more than 25,000 people died of starvation every day in 2003,[2] and as of 2001 to 2003, about 800 million people were chronically undernourished

Wikipedia told me Now, 800m/6.6b = 12% of the world was starving in 2003. But lets just say somehow we cured world hunger.

The original point was about wealth for the majority. Linking starvation to wealth is a big leap. Rich countries are 'buying' food for poor countries. Even then, technology has improved, we have rice that yields 4x more than it did 100 years ago. So, having better technology makes the definition of 'wealth' even harder to define. I would say wealth means you have 1/6.6b percent of the world's economy means you are wealthy.

Nowadays 'better' eyesight has become a requirement for newer types of jobs. Reading small print on a computer screen. Just because people wear glasses does not mean they NEED them. You were right, it was a "struggle" but still manageable. Besides, a physical property of a human being should not remove someones intellectual ideas.

OTOH, having an Internet trend set in with most servers switching to SSL (i.e. HTTPS, etc) keeps the government (and corps providing its "security" snooping services) from profiling people based on their everyday choices of art, books, and ways of socializing. It takes ISPs out of the loop as far as acting as surrogate cops snooping on peoples' data.

Everything on the Internet SHOULD be encrypted. I really really wish that I could encrypt every piece of data I send and receive regardless of its content. The only current solutions for constant encryption are things like TOR which uses proxies and there's still a point for failure (the proxy itself to the destination), and can be LAGGY as hell...

They won't talk about it, unless its used as an excuse NOT to do something. It's is hard to diagnose (taken from the link) meaning it can be abused.

Regardless of "most", or your relations with someone who has it, it is still being abused like the occasional obese person who abuses their 'disability'. Most people like to pretend their lives are "worse" than anyone elses. Sometimes they wish to go as far as a 'legal' way of defining how bad it is, so they can get sympathy and excuses.

Notice, how most people who are actually disabled: DON'T want sympathy? I have seen disabled people who could legally not have to get a job, but still go to work because they want to be normal (and respected, which they are).

Defining obesity as a disability nowadays is really sickening. Seeing people not having to work, or park far away because the threshold for "disability" being lowered is just sad. Sure, maybe some game industry is saying this, but I would rather have my kids online gaming, than; watching mindless TV, going outdoors and jumping off trees, joining a gang, hanging out with a pothead friend, etc.

I do not have kids, and this is only my opinion though, but ONLINE gaming has taught me more useful tech skills and how to socialize with people from different age groups and countries fairly well. If I just so happened to hang out with my friends in school (which I did on rare occasions) learning how to socialize from them, I would have turned into racists like them.
