A search of the car uncovered pornography, a home-made sex aid, women's stockings and a Jack Russell terrier.
All seemingly random items. They also found a ski mask, a crow bar, a tool chest, and a cd of (pick the worst sounding artist from his collection). Doesn't get anymore kinkier than that.
Anyway, lets not get into a semantic argument, the point is that pictures of the thing would be nice to look at but ultimately they don't amount to beans. Not having them is not a reason to assume it's not real.
You also have to realize this is/. and therefor we CANNOT RTFA, we can only skim it for pictures like children.
On a more serious note, we are taught to be skeptical of everything, learning that anyone can say anything. Trying to simplify fact finding by saying if there's a picture, then it's proof (or at least more proof). Although when it comes to new technology and pictures; 50% is some cgi, 25% of them are just look-a-likes(that may or may not do what it says. So what, it 'looks' like a wind turbine) and 25% are the real prototype, and yes I pulled those figures from thin air.
I regularly (monthly?) receive snail mail from them after buying a product from them. About 25 pages ready for the trash can. Only problem is, I never remember opting in or out of mailing lists. Some sign-ups require you to opt in (tieing it into their "I have read..."), and because of those I normally expect junk mail (especially e-mail).
Businesses need a clue that they piss off more customers than they "make".
Let's be honest... not all addictions are bad. I think some people have got that idea in their head, but last I checked: being addicted to air or water isn't bad.
Like being 'addicted' to the internet is not entirely bad either. Simply quitting as you suggest, means what else do they do with their lives? Socialize as you suggested? But... isn't that what you do on the internet?
This goes on to the debate of: if you're online all the time, you 'have no life'. No, last I checked, defining whether someone has a life means you are living, breathing, with a pulse, communicating. That's what you're still doing online. When you stop interacting with the world, your life ceases to lose meaning.
BTW I would suggest YOU take a break from your internet addiction...You seem to be responding to almost every post made. Or maybe you can accept the fact that you are addicted, but who cares except YOU?
I too was once chubby, and I was made fun of all my life, until 1 day. I stopped eating as much. I ate once a day, and eventually I lost a lot of weight. Did this stop people from making fun of me? No, 'omg I can see your cheekbones! you're so frail' etc. etc. Eventually I realized I don't care what I weigh, people will either accept you, or they won't. Then I gained all my weight back. Now I have hit a point where I gained too much and have gone back to eating once a day (nice way to save money if you ask me), but by choice (because I really am not hungry all the time anyways, for some reason eating a big lunch makes me full all day, and I never really ate breakfast all that much). I haven't lost any weight, I may have actually gained some. But... for some reason... I don't care, the ones who truly love you should still accept you regardless. One way to tell if a person cares about their weight? Check to see if they have a scale, I haven't owned one for about 2 years+ now.
but I'm really having trouble with the idea that this was at all legal in my lifetime
Regardless of your age, it has been around for quite some time (Romans, Greeks, etc.), just because it wasn't popular doesn't mean it never happened.
Look at the act of 'anal', 'gay', or 'bestiality' (which is probably the closest to child porn nowadays in terms of 'abnormal', and acceptance), hell a couple decades ago this was taboo and very hush hush. Which is how people treat this type of stuff (child porn) nowadays.
I know it was legal up until at least the 1970's. Colorclimax did ALL types of videos and were sold legally. It wasn't until it was made illegal that they had to stash their collections away and pretend it never happened.
Now let's make a small analogy: Marijuana is currently illegal, posting pictures of it is legal. Viewing pictures of it promotes the consumption of it (argue what you like, it still does a little), yet the pictures are not made illegal.
I'm not for, or against this stuff (who is willing to admit the 3 above 'taboo' topics either anyways?), I say to each his own. It's the fact that we are losing many many many freedoms because it's just like the war on terror. This stuff cannot be stopped, as long as there are children, there will always be supply, and as long as there are human beings there will always be demand.
Good, cause when someone throws a lit match in my yard, I would love for it all to go up in smoke first, and continue on to the remaining neighborhoods.
Even then, it checks only the "available" files (not checking deleted, or encrypted drives). So hopefully police will use this, and if your computer passes the test, then you are free to go instead of taking your computer for months.
Funny thing is, all this "checks", is known hash values of child porn and means 3 things:
1: Edit a pixel on all your images
2: Encrypt/steganography your images
3: or Make your own and don't distribute
The only thing they are doing with these new systems is preventing the "demand" of this porn, all based on the assumption that anyone involved with viewing/creating this stuff means you are PHYSICALLY harming a child.
They will keep stripping away our freedoms all in the name of preventing people from getting hurt. Instead they could just regulate it and make it legal (yes, this stuff is actually considered legal, but because abuse is involved sometimes, they made it illegal). What other things hurt people? Drugs? Alcohol? Why don't they step in and "think of the adults"?
Games for me were a method to blow off steam, not store it until my head 'sploded!
I have yet to play a game 'just to blow off steam'. I have *ahem* other ways to blow off steam. A game for me is just a challenge, to keep my brain active and entertained. A video game is 'entertainment', not an imaginary place to pretend I'm doing something, ie: "yea, that's me killing all those people".
The problem is that people can't distinguish between fantasy and reality. It seems to happen in other things as well, but some people are capable of understanding (sexual fantasies come to mind, are you REALLY going to ask your girlfriend for a reverse gangbang or to involve her sister?)
Why can't they just cut wasteful, federal spending....and let ALL tax payers keep more of their own money?
Why can't we just have our own small area governments, where EVERYONE (don't care about race/religion/wealth/popularity) is allowed to vote on EVERY bill, without us having to pay for a very select few people who fits 'most' of what we agree on (no one agrees with the president 100%).
We could have everyone vote on something that has instant access, called the internet, since everyone has access to a library. This would prevent piggy-backed bills, and if a bill were to change, it would require the entire community to vote on the new bill. To those who say, the wealthy will just buy the new laws... so be it, they are affecting their OWN small community for corruption, not everyone in the ENTIRE country.
Taxes: Why do we pay for stuff we don't want? Unpopular stuff. Why not have a list when we pay taxes (since taxes are required for roads/schools/etc.) where people can pay for what they believe in. You are presented a list of all places you would like your taxes to go, and you must check at least (80%?) a certain amount of them. So if that place that abuses government spending, iit will get cut off real quick that next tax period.
This isn't anarchy, this is the next century, the 'space age' if you will. The period where we will be forming new governments on entirely NEW PLANETS.
Not to mention, you KNOW what programs access what settings/entries. None of this hidden stuff left in the memory. If I click uninstall, I expect uninstall, not some DRM/'something that breaks another program' setting staying in my system.
I remember having an issue a few months back where I installed IIS/uninstalled, and my restart took literally 5 minutes longer (which I must say, I learned about Apache pretty quick after). I uninstalled but something was left broken (perhaps an app, who knows). Then a month after, I installed something else, and SVCHOST.exe network service prevented me accessing the internet immediately (taking up the entire cpu for a few seconds before letting me connect to web sites). So eventually I reverted to an image I took when I first got my computer to clean all that *ahem* 'crap' off.
Some day when I get another computer to mess around with, and I'll be installing Linux for casual use... Most likely my next PC, since I don't plan on buying/installing Vista...
Boy, aren't we civilized? If he was attempting to steal the car, he would probably shut the door/get in the seat. Not stand next to it (outside) looking for the switch for the lights, it would be reasonable to get your bat (or attack) WHEN he fully enters the car.
To the AC above, "anything in the view of the public is public domain" comes to mind. There's plenty of cases where cops search cars (at schools) without warrants, claiming this. Trespassing is never even brought up as a concern.
Although strangers in your "personal" spaces is a creepy idea. They are more likely people just like you and me. Clothing/neighborhood/attitude (sadly gender and race too...) can be taken into account if you see someone standing outside your car, and maybe you assume the worst case scenario. A man in rags in a bad neighborhood would be reasonable to call the cops. But a well dressed/attractive woman in a rural area you wouldn't think twice would you, or you at least wouldn't grab your bat?
Middle-clicking is becoming a new thing(?). You can middle click to open links in new tabs, middle click the tab to close the tab, that's just for web browsing. I have noticed that newer programs support new functions with middle clicking certain areas... I'm still waiting for support for an 8 button mouse though.
Seriously, we have a 100+ key keyboard for the left hand, and 3 whole friggin buttons for my right hand? No wonder I started out life right handed and ended up becoming ambidextrous.
If this bug is true.. then, if my girlfriend takes nude pictures of me. All my 'bros' will accidentally get them.
So I guess relationships do ruin other relationships?

No... it's because the GeekSquad is losing its popularity and becoming a fad. Bag 'em quick boys while you have your 15 seconds of fame.

Not quite, but our datamining search results indicate you're not alone

Better yet, would it be illegal to marry underage 2D girls? Although in Japan, underage cartoon porn is legal, but marrying underage is still illegal.
