While I'm not sure this would be the best idea timed exclusives are pretty common so at least it wouldn't be something that hasn't happened before. Most people would just wait I guess.
I don't think you'll ever see this since you're an AC but are you using ethernet? I guess so. I haven't been able to make it work well enough with ethernet (Steam link --> Router) and Wifi (PC --> Router) but it seems some people have.
In the west fewer people may be religious nowadays but the mechanisms that undelie religions still operate on people and so we get this new wave of morality
Wholeheartedly agree. I'd even see with good eyes the existence of a free Windows version paid for by spying users (a la Google/Facebook) and a nice one paid for with money like it used to be in the old days. If it had none of the bad things they added in 10 and the 7 UI I'd pay for it in a heartbeat
"The purpose of this team is to instill a unifying product ethos across our end-user experiences and devices,", translation: We'll fuck up the Windows 10 UI even more.
Yeah, it would be better if we could run a "real" OS (meaning one in which the user is allowed to do whatever they want and have administrator privileges) but still Android's limitation are much better than iOS'.
As an Android fan I'm tired of Android phone manufacturers copying everything the iPhone does (copying also happens the inverse way). It may be nice to copy good ideas but some manufacturers also insist in copying the bad ones. e.g.: Headphone jack removal and, worst of all, the notch.
Yes (I think). I mean, I'm not 100% sure how bandwidth works for a company like Netflix but I believe they pay by volume so it makes sense to reduce usage as much as possible
Likely yes. Your home connection may not be metered but they have to pay for bandwidth no matter where you watch the content so they have the incentive to reduce bandwith usage in every case
H264 was approved in 2003, that's 15 years ago. I don't think it's too bad. H265 is much newer but AV1 is essentially a response to h265's horrible licensing requeriments.
In addtiion, eventually making substantial improvements on existing codecs will get so hard that major codecs will be current for a long time so I don't think we're going to see many major codecs in the coming years. Also, with the backers AV1 has it looks like it'll be the dominant codec in the years to come
While security can't ever be perfect I'm fine with these APIs as long as they're opt in.
It works that way with the location API: The browser informs the user that the website wants to access the location and it's up to the user to authorize it. Same with notifications.
I don't know about the W3C but for Firefox they were probably useful in the context of Firefox OS which was a mobile OS with a web engine as its runtime.
That would surely be interesting but I personally don't even consider iPhones since Android has many more hardware choices available (and priced more competitively) and it's also a more open OS.
I'm learning about this just now and I think it's a great idea. I wish this phone had been more popular and they would continue to develop these expansions.
I currently own an LG G5 so it's not surprising I like this:)
Yep, nothing more than a smartphone style walled garden. It's unsettling enough that this is even offered on a desktop OS but you can be sure that they'll try to push it as the default mode sooner or later.
It's a disgrace Apple started this movement with iOS
...is the reason it happened. Namely: Oracle has abandoned Java EE to the community and won't develop it further. I was under the impression that it still was pretty important in the enterprise web application scene. Why would they abandon it?
Anyway, it doesn't look good for Java EE. Without the financial support of a big company how can it hope to remain relevant?
Google not returning good results for torrents was probably caused because Google removes those results because it was pressured to do so. Aditionally, the reason it was pressured it's because they became so dominant in search that it almost became synonimous with it. Thus the media conglomerate lawyers and politicians said "we must prevent Google from returning torrent links" while Bing was ignored because they're much smaller in comparison.
In this case what tech could do to solve the problem, given the male to female ratio is robot girlfriends. That would be tech advancement worthy of being seen:)

In my case it works almost the same both on 2.4 and 5 Ghz I suspect my router is to blame (the one the telco gave me)

I'd say Microsoft is not THAT stupid but seeing how they fucked up Windows 10 in various ways I'm starting to believe what you say can happen.

One can only hope but I'm not counting on that.

It's minutes as estimated by the Windows file copying dialog :P

Sell your soul? Do you mean you were working long hours or something else?

Invent ways to fuck up the UI :)
