The trail camera is a good idea but what if you were to take it a step further, putting up a sign saying the property is covered by CCTV and install a dummy camera that isn't hidden, plus a trail camera that is hidden. If you put up a sign and they couldn't see any cameras they might just think you're just bluffing, but if you give them something to find then they probably won't think about looking for a hidden one.
People discovered that the two scammers who setup the campaign hadn't innovated anything at all and were just acting as resellers of an existing product from a Chinese manufacturer as they had doctored exiting promotional images by removing the original manufacturers name. Oh and they added on an extortionate markup to the product.
I was quite interested in the ST1080 until I read that 60hz 720p is non-scaled and centered in the 1080p area so there's a black border round it, but running it at 1080p it's only capable of a 30hz picture.
Microvision's 720p laser projector engine is capable of touch interfacing, the module is real and exists and works but has yet to be put into a consumer projector, eta end of this year/early next year.
I do not like the way people are saying physical cash should be extinct, it's a good way to not live beyond your means, as in if you don't have the notes/coins then you can't do/buy X, especially if X is not an essential part of living.
When all your money is just numbers on a screen you feel some detachent that lessens the distinction that it's actual money being represented by those numbers, especially in the case of debt through credit cards and loans.
PayPal have a payment option called "gift" which is a payment method not intended for purchasing items as the sender cannot file a "item not received" type complaint against the recipient to get the money back.
And everyone knows that money is one of the best gifts to receive, so are Amazon going to go after PayPal? That would be funny, it's not like they're small companies..
This new law is fucking ludicrus, I generally block all cookies except certain websites, and one of the UK websites I visit has put a pink banner at the top warning about the cookie crap saying I will only see it once, but it relies on cookies to tell wether the banner has already been displayed, meaning it's ALWAYS there because I've blocked cookies on that site.
Who the fuck came up with the idea of using cookies to warn you about the use of cookies?
I'd love some colour e-ink displays that are 3ft by 4ft, perfect for posters on your walls that only use power when you want to change the picture - and they'd literally be just the display, the device that 'uploads' the new picture would contain most of (all?) the necessary driver circuitry.
No, 1 frame is not added every second for FILM>PAL conversion, they simply play the footage back at 25fps and speedup the audio to match the new framerate (which yes, does affect the audio pitch).
Motion on 24fps film has this certain look which is 'destroyed' when identical footage is shown at higher frame rates, so no wonder the 48fps test footage underwhelmed the people who saw it.
Is anyone else getting tyred of the spelling difference discussions?
So if we zoom in far enough into what atoms are made of we'll see another universe?
A bit like that old Guinness advert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6deYNEFi1lc
What if we are the creators and are simply 'jacked in', is death the way we 'unplug'?
They never pass the joint around :(
Ok here's a less obvious thought about the future of 3D printing; steganography? - Could your 3D printer spy on you?
They could have modulated the death star ray to transmit data.
Perhaps they did and some idiot turned up the gain when transmitting a threat to Alderaan...

Don't give up hope, hundreds of thousands of people in offices across the globe have made a living whilst playing Windows Solitaire.
A popular application does not mean it's a productive application that can earn you money through its use.
Nothing new there then.
Absolutely *loved* their logo too.
I still have a couple of small, original, 19" x 27" Psygnosis posters snagged from them at the end of an Amiga show. And yes the logo is excellent.

If I leave my connection downloading at full whack I go through about 45gb/day, thankfully I have no caps on my connection.

What? Chop 'n change framerates throughout the film? are you nuts?

If America wants to make itself even more ignorant and closed minded, fine, just stop enforcing your fucked up shit on the rest of the world.
...except for Daft Punk.
