Will these fuel cells fit into current generation laptops or will they require the purchase of a new laptop? (I think I know the answer to that question but I'm trying not to be too cynical here..)
You read lots of things into my post but they were kind of the wrong things, what I meant was that since a lot of major media corps are based in the US then what they will obsess about for weeks will be more likely to be things that have to do with the US, and since if you consider that most media people (in mainstream media) in the rest of the world have this ungodly "We love the US they can do no wrong"-attitude then you understand why everytime something is really big in the US it's also big in other places (hint: "the amerikuns thinks this is important, we must do 24/7 coverage of it as well, even though it will begin to annoy viewers after 30 minutes")
/Mikael (the 9/11 and Columbia coverage was a bit too much for me, yes it was big, but not so big that the local news station that normally does stories about kittens being rescued from trees had to spend 90% of their time talking about those events..)
There was probably not an 8 hour special in Brazil about the loss of our shuttle.
Hint, whenever a Bad Thing(tm) happens to US citizens or to something related to the US it gets massive coverage in all the media all over the world, you can thank the US media corporations for that one..
Someone never took math courses that were attended by an ungodly number of math majors (ungodly = more than 10). I don't think I've ever heard a mathematician be certain of anything (except ~3 seconds before someone pointing out that their proof of something was in fact wrong..)
Why don't you RTFA? In the initial paragraph he mentions both his drive and the PSU getting fried, he doesn't say anything about researching which one caused the whole thing. It could be that the drive b0rked itself and for a short while also shorted out the original PSU, you don't know so don't go screaming bloody murder..
I think what the parent meant was that the hardware used wasn't specifically designed for decoding oggs but is just existing designs put together in such a way that they are capable of decoding oggs.
Well, about the admin rights for students.. Why not make it so the students have to turn on the admin rights themselves in some menu somewhere, then only mention it on your Uni's network information website (most have one). This way only the students who actually have something resembling a brain will figure it out..
Ah yes, The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe, now there's a book I don't regret buying, it can be a bit of a slow read at times though.. It's some of the stories are pretty interesting though..
The main reason for using these sites is when you have a CD that didn't come with printed lyrics and you want to know just what they are screaming about.. It's not like you have any reason to use these sites if you don't already have the music. Of course, you could download the music and the lyrics, but then you're building a strawman..
I seriously doubt you could go from Spain to Poland in 7 hours, you'd be travelling a total of 980km, at the most.. Now from border to border, at night, you might be able to pull this off, but expect to have some seriously pissed off traffic cops looking for you..
Besides, at realistic speeds (110-120km/h on highways) it takes about 7-8 hours to travel less than halfway through Sweden.. (Mora - Gothenburg)
In my experience B&O has really high quality, my dad recently replaced his old B&O TV with a new one because the old one was getting too old, and I can't remember when he bought his B&O stereo, only that the one he had before that one didn't have a CD player.. And it all works like a charm.
But just what are "small oscillations" in this system? That's what I'd like to know, because it may look tiny on a graph, but in real life it may result in some major changes..
Sorry, just a bit sick of people on both sides arguing only to win the argument, would be nice if they would actually listen to each other for a change..
Seems a lot of people just ignore things they don't have good answers for..:)
Very few countries in the world would allow the amount of protest against the government as has been happening in the US for the last few months.
Not trying to be disrespectful or anything but there are actually quite a lot of countries where you are allowed to say worse things about the government than you are allowed to in the US, you may have been one of the first but that doesn't give you a monopoly..
Sorry to be blunt, but so what? A 1966 Ford Mustang in mint condition is beyond what I can afford -- doesn't mean I have the right to have one. I guess I'll just need to keep my Toyota pick-up.
Isn't it more like renting a huge garage and being told that you are only allowed to keep one car in it, if you want to park more cars you will have to pay extra (for space you are already renting..). (After all, I'm not using three times as much bandwidth as a regular user just because I have three computers connected to the internet..)
I'm not certain why 12 bits of integer should be better than 32 bits of floating point, per component, maybe you could educate me a bit there?
PC: 32 bits SGI: 48 bits
Or to put it this way, if we use the alpha channel as well, the PC has 4294967296 possible colours, the SGI has 281474976710656 possible colours.. (since WinDOS (and AFAIK Loonix/XF86) won't support more than 32 bits for colour).
For example, scientific applications like nuclear reaction simulation, fluid dynamics computation and other similar things run in super computers. The Alpha CPU is a capable chip, do doubt, but it does not make a big difference in those applications that need such a big horsepower.
Ok, I know it's not a supercomputer but I didn't feel like looking up the name of any Alpha-based supercomputers, so I'll just give you a link to the GS320.

Oops, just found the november top500 list for supercomputers:
2. AlphaServer SC ES45/1.25 GHz/ 4096
3. AlphaServer SC ES45/1.25 GHz/ 4096
6. AlphaServer SC ES45/1 GHz/ 3016
7. AlphaServer SC ES45/1 GHz/ 2560
