    The NES and the Sega Master system were of the same generation.
    The SNES and the Genesis/Megadrive were the next generation.
    It's really no surprise that the Megadrive was faster than the NES since Nintendo's 16bit console wasn't released at the same time as the Megadrive...

    Not really a lot of games. Besides, there are still a lot of games that would benefit from mouse support that don't have it, that's what annoys me. Whenever I played Goldeneye on the N64 I would think to myself, "why is there not a mouse + keyboard option for this fucking game?"...

    What first personal computers didn't have joysticks? The Altair? My Spectravideo SVI-328 had two joysticks, and the SVI-318 had a built-in joystick in the keyboard, these machines are from the early 80's...

    And as far as I'm concerned it's a lot more efficient to use mouselook + keyboard for FPS games, and a hell of a lot more intuitive than joypads. You move the mouse to rotate yourself, walk in different directions with ASWD, the mouse buttons are for shooting/changing weapons and the keys on the keyboard next to ASWD are used for other actions...

    if the keyboard+mouse are so great why does every PC magazine have ads for Pc gamepads that look suspiciously like Dual Shocks.

    Or it could be that there have been these ads in PC magazines since the dark ages and I have yet to actually meet someone who owns one of these damn gamepads... And just how many of the top CS/Q3A/UT2K3 players use a gamepad?

    Actually, IIRC most CPUs have embedded microcode and I also seem to remember an old 486 I had once that somehow decided to slowly make itself go slower (I doubt this had anything to do with the microcode though, more like hardware failure...) /Mikael

    Actually, he's not a taliban, he's the leader of the Alqaeda(al-qeada/al-qaida/alqaida/whatever) network, so it would be alqaeda.org (or .net since it's a "terrorist network")

    Or perhaps today people at least have enough sense not to think dying for a stupid cause (patriotism) is worth anything. Or perhaps they don't like the thought of killing other people. Or they may simply prefer to have a bit more control over their own life, not having some guy with more metal on his shoulders than themselves wake them up at three in the morning just to "harden" them and all that...

    It's true that if everyone used lots of electricity the price would go up, however the same is true for everything, it's just nice to not have to worry about the price of electricity and water since it's a flat fee...

    yes, but the other clusters aren't exactly run-of-the-mill Linux clusters put strung together with shoestrings, they are for example Alpha clusters running OpenVMS or Tru64...

    And the news only ever shows them wading in and cracking skulls; never shows them taking abuse, hurled rocks, and so on.
    You obviously missed the coverage of the Gothenburg anti-EU protests, it was all about the evil demonstrators throwing rocks at police and the police just had to shoot a demonstrator and a couple of photographers... (of course, since then it has been determined that video tapes of the shooting had been tampered with to show make it seem like there were more rioters around than the one that got shot (plus the photographers...)
