Everything I've seen says that climate scientists say there's no connection at all. The only place I've seen any connection put forward as a fact are people who write letters to the editor in the NY Times and similar papers.

The list of Pacific hurricanes uses X, Y, and Z (but not Q or U), whereas the Atlantic list doesn't use any of those five letters. Perhaps they should add X, Y, and Z names to the Atlantic list too now.

I owned the original Game Boy, but no other console. Played NES and SNES and Genesis at friends' houses, of course. And a little N64 and Gamecube with friends as I got older. My roommate and I in college got a free PS2 with something (DSL I think), and we used it as a DVD player. I used an XBox as an original Game Boy emulator once. Frankly, I have no interest in Sony or Microsoft consoles. I outgrew GTA-style games when I was 18 (Look, Beavis, I'm killing a hooker! huhuhuhuhuh... "mature" games my ass). FPS's to this point are useless without a keyboard and mouse. (And I played Halo on the PC, and it sucked even *with* the keyboard and mouse). Never got into RPGs much. Or sports games. So that pretty much takes care of 95% of PS2 and Xbox games there. Honestly, my preferred gaming style is strategy things (everything from the original Civ and Simcity to Rome:TW), and that's left me mostly on the PC. But the Nintendo consoles have had a few extra truly fun games on them that don't normally fit in.. Super Smash Bros, for example.

I'm seriously thinking of buying the Rev. Combining the classic arcade-style console games from my youth, with something honestly new that may even allow controllable strategy games and even FPSs, not to mention new style games, along with the polish that I've come to expect from Nintendo, makes me very excited. I just hope that the new games don't put too much emphasis on "online" stuff. I mean, I want the capability there, but I don't want tons of games that are only good when played online. Because frankly people online are a bunch of assholes. I have no interest in having to listen to 15 year olds call me a Gay Mexican Jew Lizard whenever I want to play a game for awhile. I mean, I will know people who live further away who will likely own the Rev too, so I would like the online play to be there. (Classic NES games online would be awesome as well for the same reason, by the way.)

So this is all kind of rambling, but basically the point is: Never bought a non-portable console before and never really considered it much, but I'm definitely considering it now.

SPAM = "SPiced hAM", I thought..?

    says Wikipedia:

The name "SPAM" was chosen in the 1930s when the product, whose original name--"Hormel Spiced Ham"--was far less memorable, began to lose market share. The name was chosen from multiple entries in a naming contest. A Hormel official once stated that the original meaning of the name SPAM was "Shoulder of Pork and hAM". According to writer Marguerite Patten in SPAM - The Cookbook, the name was suggested by Kenneth Daigneau, brother of the Hormel vice president and an actor.

Other explanations of the origin of the term include the acronym "Specially Processed Assorted Meat","Spiced Pork And haM", "Specially Processed Army Meat", and "SPAre hAM"; there are also some less-than-serious explanations, such as "Synthetically Produced Artificial Meat" or "Stuff Posing As Meat". The current official explanation is the SP and AM were taken from "SPiced hAM" to win a $100 prize.

According to Hormel's trademark guidelines, SPAM(TM) is spelled with all capital letters and treated as an adjective, as in the phrase SPAM(TM) luncheon meat. As with many trademarks (such as LEGO(TM) or Kleenex(TM)) consumers typically simply refer to similar meat products as SPAM.

Seriously, this criminal is not funny. Other people invested time and money in this game, only to be cheated. This guy is a crook. If someone can do a crime on-line, they can do it in real life. It is exactly like when a child beats a dog. You just know in 10 years that kid will become a murderer. The kid lacks apathy, and that is a serious personality flaw. That is like a pit bull that bites, that specific animal is no good for anyone anymore. You have to seperate the bad from the good. Otherwise you will have 1 person costing everyone else an enjoyable life. It is a small price to pay.

Maybe one day the internet can be used to catch people with criminal tendencies. By monitoring the actions of the young, say ages 5 to 12, I am sure an algorithm can be made that can predict with 95%+ certainty which people will end up commiting violent crimes. Society could protect itself by locking these people up before the violence.

I seriously hope this post is a subtle joke, because I lollerskated. From the notion that "manipulating bits on a server" == "beating people up", to the notion that "hitting a dog" == "murder", to the confusion of "apathy" and "empathy", to the 1984 (or Minority Report) style suggestion at the end, I'm impressed if you could make that post with a straight face.
