Canonical is a privately held company. It has no legal obligation to "make more money" as you put it. Where you see this as a money grab others are seeing it as a convenient feature.
But I never game under Linux because the open source drivers are slow as ass.
You never game yet you know that it's slow. Awesome.
MS keeps a stable graphics API, something Linux never figured out how to do.
Cool, give me a real practical example. You can't. Well if you did game on linux, you'd know that this is bullshit. I still have linux games such as introversion's Uplink (2001 release) that still works fine on linux.
Just admit you have no idea what you're talking about apart from these FUD points windows users bring up whenever "linux" and "gaming" are mentioned in the same sentence.
It's already viable for games. I have plenty of native linux games (read over 20) that were release in the last 4 years. The problem isn't in it's viability, it's convincing people that it's viable and having them unlearn all the FUD or "experience" they gained 10 or even 5 years ago when they first tried linux out.
The US want to legally jail him up for life and parade him around on TV as an example to everyone else. It's not about getting revenge it's about using him as an example to the rest of us.
If postgresql is so easy to use then everyone would be using it. That's not the case because it's not and any critic to this point get's met with abuse of being an idiot.
All I can really respond to that is to enjoy remaining the last choice over MySQL as it'll continue to be ignored until it's ease of use is addressed.
Sorry but you're biased and wrong about how easy Postgre is to use. I've tried numerous times to switch from MySQL to PostgreSQL and every time I found it less easy then MySQL is. There is a reason that MySQL is more popular, you can install phpmyadmin and away you go, although there is phppgadmin it fails to capture the ease of use that phpmyadmin has. The rest of the postgresql tools suffer from the same problem.
Loads of stuff uses bit torrent, sure it's mainly used for piracy but that just speaks to how great the protocol is. You could say the very same thing about TCP.
I'm not being pedantic, I have absolutely no idea what you mean by "make just one model" since they have many. It makes no sense from either a software or hardware side so please explain.
Currently it's at 5021856 with 32846+1000+1609+345+190+3+6 consoles to make. 35,999 Consoles.
(5021856 / 100) * 8 = 401,748.48 is your 8% from kickstarter / amazon Let's just assume it costs $100 per console to make, that's $3,599,900
Even if you put that all together they're still left with $1,020,207 in the worse cast senario. I very much doubt it costs them $100 to make when that's what they're selling it at so they're probably going to be ok.
I funded the kickstarter and I see it more of a donation that anything else. I have wanted something like this to happen for a long time and I paid money for a chance for it to be a success. I think a lot of the people that are funding this feel the same way.
If it doesn't work out then at least I tried rather then bitch on reddit or slashdot about how nothing like this ever comes along.
Like many things in life if your alternatives worked they'd be using them. There's no big conspiracy out there.
Ubuntu is popular, people would find some way to bitch about it regardless.

Lots of new start ups are doing this type of management scheme. Github is another company that just lets people work on whatever, however they want.
The state of the art at the moment seems to be this device if you're interested on the subject.
Regardless of it being a dick move..
> So, let's allow a bunch of people to get hacked because the developer doesn't meet your standards.
If it's breakable then it's just poor security. This isn't tabs or spaces. This is either you can break into someones account or you can't.
Even people in Thailand don't give a shit about this. Everyone whose seen this news over here thinks it's stupid.
Maybe it's because no one else bothers to meet him and tell him that it's a stupid idea. Instead they just sit on the internet whining.
> Sweden - unlike the UK - has never been an ally of the USA.
The pirate bay case proves you wrong on that.
He hasn't been charged with any crime, he needs to go to sweden to "answer questions".

Yeah, apple the good guy, for suing first and asking that samsung products be removed from the US market.. makes perfect sense..

Both NetFlix and LoveFilm aren't available in my country I'd pay for either maybe both if they were.

> the overriding lesson I would take from the iPhone is "make just one model".
The iPhone doesn't come in just one model, hence why they're called 2, 3s, 4, 4s respectively.
Rain is probably a bigger problem. Not sure about in the states but the topical storms we get over here in monsoon season ruin all signals.

Yours is the most insightful comment i've read so far. Some of the haters on here simply don't get it.
