Ah, the life of a night owl.

I know it sounds weird, but you might try keeping a sleep journal. It could help you collect data and maybe see what's going on. I just started using a program called SleepChart. Seems like it will take a long time to gather enough data, but maybe it will be helpful.

IANAD or anything, though. Just someone else who isn't a morning person.

This will be awesome if done correctly. My only hope is that we see this kind of technology become available for other instruments, as well.

Wow, that is a fantastic find for us engineering-types. I was surprised to actually find some things that I recognized from my controls and multi-body kinematics classes. Thank you! I'm off to build my own mech now... :D

DoD is pretty awesome :D The closest thing I've found to it is Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. I can't personally vouch for Linux compatibility, but it seems like it would work fine.

Also, what is that short cable that's between the HDMI cable and the component/composite cable? I can't really tell as the resolution is too small, and it doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere. Looks like it has a red RCA jack, a yellow one, and maybe S-video? Its an "audio only" cable for people that can only receive the video from HDMI, ie. your TV has HDMI but your receiver has optical, or you use a DVI adapter which does not carry audio, etc. The cable has red/white RCA and optical audio connections. Major Nelson and Albert talk about it on "The one about the Xbox 360 Elite" blogcast.
  6. Re:Strange criteria on The Ten Most Important Games · · Score: 1

If you look at all the posts in this thread you will notice a lot more than ten games that people will swear need to go on the list. That should proove that there are a whole lot of influential games. I agree completely. There are tons of games that have been influential to many people since gaming has been around. I think that these are just 10 of the most important video games...who's to say more couldn't be added?

    From the article:

Mr. Lowood's canon was closely modeled on the work of the National Film Preservation Board, which every year compiles a list of films to be added to the National Film Registry, managed by the Library of Congress since 1989...The first list of films included "Casablanca," "Citizen Kane," "The Searchers" and "Nanook of the North." (emphasis added)

Personally, I think it is about time that video games were recognized as something worth preserving. Since Lowood's list is similar to the National Film Registry, I can only hope that we get to see this list expand every year.
