There is a little problem with your narrative. For decades now the US pharma companies almost exclusively concentrate on drugs that treat symptoms rather than underlying diseases. Every drug also has a laundry list of side effects for which you take other drugs to manage those. It is madness. On top of it, they are allowed to advertise their products. I have zero confidence in this industry actually producing anything beneficial other than profits.
The food industry is even worse. When I live in a totalitarian communist country a chocolate had cocoa butter, milk and sugar. Now that Nestle took over the factory, it has palm oil, high fructose corn syrup, lactose, milk powder and dozens of color and taste enhancers. How is this better?
Socialism might be dirty word, but it is the norm across the Western Europe and now with the fall of Soviet Union also across the Eastern part. Before there was a dictatorship of proletariat, authoritarian system that had nothing to do with socialism except for name.
And when it comes to Bernie Sanders, he could not run in any country in EU. You know why? He is a right wing nut. Yes, that is right. If his policies were proposed in any EU country, including UK, the people there would revolt against them. Because 10 days of paid vacation is simply inhuman. Only 12 weeks of maternity is barbarity. Nobody would stand for such right wing craziness. Even the Tories in UK are left of Sanders on social issues.
So you are essentially saying that for a small group of power users in a narrow field linux is where it's at and for others OSX apps can get them up to near the expert level fast, but not beyond. And that should be a reason for everyone to use Linux?
I am like the original poster. I have always been a power user, the target group of Linux so to speak, I love Linux and I always have few VMs around running Linux, sure. But if I ever have to use as much as a browser on Linux desktop I simply cringe. And it seems like about 8 years ago the Linux desktop got really good and usable and then... it started to walk backwards.
As someone having to develop complex drivers for 3 years for this particular version of kernel because Cavium would not port their SDK to anything newer until couple years ago, I can honestly say, it was time... for a long time...

There is still a good chance of it, but it seems to be considerably lower now. Saudi Arabia and Turkey threatened to invade Syria and Russia would have no choice, but to use tactical nuclear weapons to defend their troops there. What we would do in response is not too hard to guess.
Compared to this, there is almost no threat of actual nuclear war from Korea. Even if they actually managed to fire a nuclear weapon, the response would probably be conventional.
There is no fucking market for what 20% of people can produce at the prices that would sustain life. This number will rise to 80% very soon. I am automating away the need for dozens of people each year and I am not alone. Eventually we will not need 95% of people to work. And their work will have zero value to us. I am not ready to simply let them starve. I am not ready to let their children starve and deny their children a chance to be one of the 5% who actually would be useful. I am not ready to embrace your form of fascism.
Most companies can make up this type of bullshit reasons for most of their employees. If I search your work laptop and browsing history, I am guaranteed to find worse than that...
You are not guaranteed your life or property either. You only get to keep your life, because I feel like to is to my advantage not to kill you. As you have made laws that guarantee I will starve and freeze on the street, because my skills are not useful anymore at this very moment, I have no incentive to obey any of the laws anymore. So while people are not guaranteed food, shelter and healthcare, it is in my best interest to convince them there is a reasonable chance they might survive, otherwise my own life is not very safe now, is it? It does not matter what laws there are. If the society is severely unfair for 80% of the participants, you will either have apartheid or you won't have a lawful society.
So suck it and don't kill and starve people with your stupid attitude. Golden Rule, remember? If you want to live, that is.

Especially with random writes that get high level of map updates. As that fills the write latency on sustained random writes will eventually climb to the 2 program instructions latency, which is 400us. With multiple controllers, only every third write is going to a specific controller. The latency will go down as you don't sustain writes to each controllers at the level to flood the caching.
What is my glory is not eternal and wanes after a while? Can I see them for damages? Maybe we could turn it into a class action and get awarded the monetary bounty in that way.
