A debate is a discussion in which opposing arguments are presented. Evolution and Creationism are not opposing arguments. One is a scientific argument and the other is a religious argument. They are not opposing - they are incompatible.
In order to be swayed by a scientific argument, you must first accept the tenets of science. In order to be persuaded by a religious argument, you must first accept the tenets of the religion in question.
Since the tenets of science and the tenets of this particular religion are directly contradictory and incompatible, this cannot be a debate.
A debate can only occur if the arguing parties stand upon common ground and accept a common underpinning framework within which the debate can take place.
You have twice now called me racist. I have not called anyone racist. All I've called anyone is white. Anything else packed into that is only going on in your head.
And to explain, we who are not racist are not offended when someone else calls us racist. Funny how there's no shame in not being racist.
My, but the vehemence with which the white guy is defended! I suppose it shouldn't surprise me on the whitest (possibly SECOND whitest) place on the Internet.
This isn't the only place we've seen this. The Pentagon and FEMA have been up to their necks in it for years. The process of getting government contracts is so bizarre and complicated that companies have evolved with "getting government contracts" as their only business model. So the companies that actually get the contracts are the companies that are good at getting government contracts (because they focus so much of their resources on the process), NOT companies that are good at delivering what the contracts specify. This is a natural by-product of bureaucracy.
"Creativity" is not the opposite of "conformity". Creative thinking does not equate to risk-taking. People are not nearly as resistant to change as the article assumes (just look at all the radical changes that have been openly embraced in the last few decades).
The purpose of the Constitution is to limit the power of the federal government. Period. It grants no rights, nor does it assume that anyone has any sort of "natural rights". The Bill of Rights is simply a list of things the federal government is not allowed to do.
He was a government contractor. Government contracts go to organizations that are good at getting government contracts, NOT organizations that are any good at what they are hired to do. The Affordable Care Act website is a recent example of this. FEMA and the Pentagon have been giving us glowing examples for years (decades in the Pentagon's case). Snowden isn't some kind of security superstar. He's a third-rate hack.
between a piece of legislation and a website? The Affordable Care Act is NOT a website. The failure of the website does not equate to a failure of the Act. Mainly, it's indicative of the fact that government contracts go to companies that are good at getting government contracts, NOT companies that are good at the work for which the contracts are granted.

It says they went from next-day streaming to next-week streaming. One day wait to seven day wait. This is a non-thing.

Vehemence and self-righteousness. Self-righteous like a lynch mob or a Crusade.

Society doesn't openly demonize white guys. White guys own and run our society.
"The "white man" is unfairly demonized"
No. It is, in fact, pretty fair.
I'd be busy having the life squeezed out of me by the gravity.
Who gives a crap what "titles" USA Today bestows? They're the McDonalds of news media.
33% of monkeys don't believe in it, either.
I must have missed something.
There is no privacy on the Internet. Never has been.

Yup.
Viva la Revolución!
Humans like to have sex.
Spying is bad.
Now lets see a show of hands of everybody who has never, EVER, looked at another person's browser history.

Wow. Replacing that is going to be a tall order.
No amount of Slashdottery will take the awesome out of this.

I'll take that Ph.D. now.
A sonic screwdriver. Only tool I ever need.
Interesting names for Luddites.
