    Testdisk to recover partition & mbr data.
    Windows PE live disc to try to read disc/chkdsk, and/or use HandyRecovery v1 (fw) for undelete/quick format recovery
    Knoppix to read corrupt NTFS
    SpinRite to try and recover/reset bad sectors

    Vote here, too. A few times something got corrupt in the NTFS filesystem on seperate machines. Windows would start to boot, but once the ntfs driver loaded... BSOD! Even WindowsPE discs, same result. If I booted PE fully and attached the drive via USB adaptor ... BSOD!

    Knoppix (or any linux I'd imagine) was able to read the drive & files with no problem.

    A GPS "compass" is just a heading indicator; the direction of travel between 2 samplings. This new compass supposedly is magnet (earth's core) sensing - presumably if you hold a magnet nearby you could see which pole is facing the device and on what edge.

    I would love to see a backlash or movement for when this takes effect to have people install de-fingerprinting kiosks outside the airports... maybe offering a swipe of super glue before entry to the airport. If only a few people do this it wont work so well, but if masses do it...???

    I sure hope you are not a developer or never plan to be one.

    It is ideology like that that give us bloatware and forces us to upgrade our hardware so we are able to run your program(s), assuming we want or need to, alongside others uninhibited.

    It looks like your needs/game only use basic vectors, nothing fancy like blends, blurs. Could you just strip out much of the code from the SVG source that does stuff you don't foresee using?

    Visual Studio is what I started on so I am biased to that, though I still am on v6 ('98).
    I've been migrating to Code::Blocks which seems comparable, but with more compiler options. It recognizes gcc from a CygWin install and compiles native windows apps w/o needing cygwin1.dll. I even got it working with BorlandC++ 5 (free). Debugging is decent on it as well.

    ...I'm going to have to discount any Java-based IDE as they will consume all your resources eventually.

    Think of it as the "flow" control of photoshop brushes. Linger in one area, more pigment/color is applied in the spot. Move quickly and just a light dusting is applied.
