"Doctors Turn To the Web For Disease Tracking" but my doctor doesn't even know how to use a computer. She does know a thing or two about the human body though.
I must say that I really do not like the evolution of distribution entertainment media is going through. It seems that more and more is moving online (iTunes, or Amazon's UnBox like you say) and I prefer to just have a CD and be done with it. Something physical, something I can hold in my hands. Putting it on display in a rack looks nice too. That way, I have it and it will be forever mine, unlike a file on some giant corporation's server.
While trying to respond insightful you've made a mental jump from something rather innocent such as a rootkit, to a grave insult on basic human rights. I'd rather compare the relative status of malware to something as "looking a person in the eyes", which is considered rude in Western civilisations, but not in East Asian ones.
I should've known I would be modded down as troll. No matter. I don't need arguments, I've got statistics by my side. Where are the Romans? Where is the Third Reich? The Soviet Union? Right. Situations like this only last for a limited amount of time. Be it decades, or centuries.
IMO classification can be a nice thing. It helps to reduce the clutter. However it seems that every now and then, something is discovered that 'refuses' to be classified.
Also, in Pluto's case, I think they should've made an exception for historical reasons. It should have remained the ninth planet while at the same time introducing a system for classifying objects. Every branch of science is riddled with exceptions, and it's nice for, for example, teachers to see their students get angry because there are so many exceptions to the rule.:D It makes learning something rather hard.
IC, it's not that I'm planning on running Vista on the poor little bugger... I want to get some battery power out of it, you know... to get at least past the boot sequence.:)
I have no idea if this is real or fabricated... I guess it's real, it's from a chinese review of the MSI Wind, wich is also equipped with an Intel Atom: http://forums.msiwind.net/download/file.php?id=3
It's running Windows Vista, but I have no idea how well it performs. Anybody know of an english review that tried to run Vista on an Atom? Or can read this article? Source (chinese): http://article.pchome.net/content-630588-1.html
I've found the following HEX message hidden in the image using Irfanview: http://www.svenarduwie.be/Public/Clipboard01.jpg Also, I've got Rain Man on the case. The code will be cracked in minutes!

Allow me to go OT for a bit...

Maybe Microsoft will change for the better after Ballmer leaves. But not while he's in charge. At least, that's what I think.

Just wipe it off with some kleenex.
Nah that's why we have editors
oh wait... I guess not
STATUTE of limitations, watch some Seinfeld!

The United States will lose more than can ever be gained with war. It's a question when, not if.
Nice try. So it's twice as hot?

I've seen you do it hundreds of times
A lot of people think they are "have not"s, are you sure you are one?
There are other comments on this story that show the same sentiment: "why use this when we've got a terminal (with a few scripts)"
Are these posted by the same people who say that Open Source's strength lies in its diversity?
We should applaud the effort that has gone into this project, even though it may not be equally useful to everyone.
Who even knows what 'nano' means? I do, and I assume most slashdotters know too. But what about John Sixpack, the actual consumer?
Why not just call the damn thing VIA Tiny... I'm so sick of nano this and nano that. Not a day goes by or there it is, on slashdot's frontpage.
IC, it's not that I'm planning on running Vista on the poor little bugger... I want to get some battery power out of it, you know... to get at least past the boot sequence. :)
But I was gonna try it anyway.

That's the luxury of hindsight. Do we really want to limit personal (and academic, and any other kind of) freedom to prevent terrorist attacks?
And what about the anger or frustration this creates under the population that behaves properly (whatever that may be)?
I see. But I've got an excuse: english is my third language ;)

But why do they call it Ovaltine? The mug is round. The jar is round. They should call it round tine.
This news is just asking for "obligatory" memes
