I'm surprised someone on./ hasn't caught this yet. 'Players will be able to connect with people they know using "real names and profile pictures seeded from your existing social network."' What is the reason for real names being shown to the entire world? Don't they already know who you are when you sign into PSN?
Jono has drank so much Canonical koolaid, that he's been written off in my book. Read some of his blog posts -- he's become almost as egotistical as Shuttleworth at times.
So, is DirectX "continu[ing] to evolve" or is it "DirectX is no longer evolving as a technology"? It sounds like Microsoft is speaking out of both sides of their mouths.
Rounded walls versus squared, lack of minarets and replaced with an off center tower that looks vaguely European, "sandstone" versus "granite", guns versus no guns -- they're EXACTLY alike.. *rolls eyes* The only thing they have is common is the arch over the door, but that is a common shape.
This is very short sighted and doubtful many business owners are willing to shell out the money for smartphones and tablets so people can enter data into spreadsheets on screens the size of your hand.
If hardware manufacturers stop making PC parts, the death of the PC will be a self-fulfilling prophecy.
What Unity broke for me was the ability to have multiple terminals open at once, or if Chome was minimized, it had to completely reload every web page that was opened when it was maximized.
MATE had some... unique... quirks when it was first released, but at this point, it is mostly on par with GNOME 2. There are still a few rough edges, but it seems the devs are working through these. I've played with Cinnamon, but it broke my workflow like Unity.
Yes. Have you taken the time to read all the JIRA posts from Mark where he completely unreasonable and telling people, basically, if you don't like the changes, you don't have to use it. That's about the time when people took him up on his word and started migrating to Linux Mint en masse.
Comments, like the ones made by Mr. Shuttleworth, looking down on people who don't know how to program and calling them "depressed hipsters" when they say they don't like something, is both unproductive and unprofessional.
I've just lost all respect for Jono for throwing away his principles for money. There is *no* reason for searches of local files on a home computer to be sent across the internet. There's not even a technical reason for doing this.
Jono says: "The challenge of course is that privacy is a deeply personal thing and the way in which you define your privacy expectations will likely radically differ from each of your friends, and vice-versa."
What I consider an appropriate level of privacy should be defined by me, not by another company. It should be telling that the only quotes Jono selects come at the end of RMS' rant and he doesn't do anything to address the main issues brought up.
The Recovery and Investment Act was supposed to stimulate America's economy, not go to further prop up a regime with numerous humans rights violations. The last thing we need is more traffic because of these cheap batteries blowing up on the interstate.
If this does come to pass, how long do you think it will be before an American citizen posting on an American website is brought up on charges in Russia or China for being "subversive"?
Now if you go to watch a 30 second clip of something, you have banner ads on both sides, pop up windows, ads that pop up over the video, and an ad pre-roll. It's enough to make you not want to watch anything.
I am torn on the issue of gun control. It is the law of the land, laid out since the founding of the United States, but I also think we need to teach our children to solve their disputes without resorting to violence.
One could argue that from a legal standpoint, they may not be able to file a counter-claim notice against themselves and would need to have a court order issued, invalidating the first request, but then perjuring themselves. Which damage would be greater? Your page to "Ahmahgerd: The Bestest Movie Since the Invention of Movies" removed from search engines on opening weekend with no online ticket sales, or the Federal charges and resulting penalties for perjury?
Isn't there already a provision in the law to deal with false takedown request as they are attested under penalty of perjury? I know many of those cases have wound up in court.

Sorta like the Venn diagram of the seedy underworld, then?

In defense, they may have updated those issues from when I first played with it. That first impression was enough to turn me off, though.

You forgot about Ramona? She's probably hiding out in a southbridge somewhere crying her digital eyes out.

The problem is, although I'm a Mint user, I still had to search through countless pages just to find your post telling how to disable it.
Only 1 person came to Ubuntu's defense, but the rest seem ready to bring out the torches and pitchforks!

You are an amazing parent! :D I hope you also taught him why it's important to have ethical computer programs.

Is this why Congress made a big push to rescind these a few years back?

Does it blend?
