  1. How does this work? on Is Virtual Rape a Crime? · · Score: 1

Do the avatars have genitals and stuff?, is there malicious code that can lift a skirt or pull your virtual pants down, is there underwear? I don't have an account with second life and don't really know all this little details, but it seems kind of funny. I doubt that they can really make it a crime, at best just suspend the offenders account.

  2. electric blanket on A Tablecloth to Charge Your Laptop · · Score: 1

I see a lot of sparks when i use wool blankets and a acrylic t-shirt, maybe thats what started this project?

  6. Don't do it and don't quit on Would You Install Pirated Software at Work? · · Score: 1

Make sure you have the order to install the pirate software in writing and then just plain refuse. Then if they fire you for disobeying you have a case to sue them. If they don't then just start looking for a better job, since they have showed that they suck. Quitting is not something you need to do since you can wait to see if there can be a liquidation and unemployment in your future (read vacation).

  7. Obama has lost my confidence on Obama's MySpace Drama · · Score: 1

And not just from this incident. Am a Chicago resident and even though i can't vote (i am a legal resident), i followed his senate race and later his work at the senate. Since then i have not heard anything much from him, (other than trips to Africa). I had hoped that he would be a fresh voice in the muddy waters of politics. Instead I see time and again how his position in issues (the war, homeland security etc...) is the same as all the rest of the democrats. No real balls, no new ideas, instead giving Bush what he wants. No teeth. Lately on a cable news "debate", all i saw was a smiling guy that had not much to say. But at least a new guy surfaced (even if he is not too young), that at least had the balls and the anger in the belly to tell the truth (even if other people saw it as comical relief). Ex senator Mike Gravel had the guts to voice his discontent with the current crop of politicians running for president. I like what i heard and hope that people that can vote support him. Some one that goes on a budget that is so small that to get around he has to ride in a $25 bus and stayed at a $55 motel is more in touch with the real world than all the other candidates that get $400 hair cuts, or $2800 makeup sessions to go to work. And on top of that Gravel actually critics the current administration and gives alternatives to a lot of issues that are sinking this country to the lowest levels (economic and moral).

  8. guns in class is crazy on Many Dead In Virginia Tech Shooting · · Score: 1

My deepest condolences to the relatives of the victims and a speedy recovery to the wounded. About the issue of guns in school, sorry but if everyone bring their gun to class, and manage to kill the guy killing people, how is the police to know who is the gunman, since the gunman could have killed someone with a gun as well, it's stupid to ask to have guns in school. People are there to learn, not defend themselves, leave that to the security dept. Obviously there has to be a rethinking of how security is handled and a way to know what kind of weapons are being carried in bags or in pockets. I'm all for gun banning. Of course now all eyes are going to be on the news of this incident (with the 24/7 morbid showing of the photos, videos, testimonies, etc...) and probably make the Att. General's appearance before a Senate a back page news.

  9. the artist is who matters on Record Store Owners Blame RIAA For Destroying Music Industry · · Score: 1

the music industry has controlled the products they sell for ever. Artists have to change their music, clothings, personal style and even the things they say, to satisfy the corporations. On top of giving most of the money their creations make to the industry that gave them the chance to become famous if thet ever did, since a lot of music just gets stored with out seeing the light of day. It's time to take the middle man out of it and give full control to the people that make the music. True that they willingly signed the contract. And a lot of them made millions of it. Usually the most fake ones. So am happy to see this kind of industry vanish. they have leached too long off gifted people. Internet and technology in general have a liberating effect that give us the consumer more venues than the ones the industry has controlled.

  10. tv as a window on The Coming Fight Over TV Violence · · Score: 1

If you walked by a window and accidentally you saw a man or woman hitting and abusing a (woman, child, man, dog, etc..) what would you think or do?. Now if u saw that as a consequence of this violence the person or animal died or was mutilated or maimed etc.. what then?. Now consider the same window but this time you saw a couple (no matter what gender) having really hot sex or just sex in general, what would you do?. Now think a TV is like a window in your living room. If anything we have become a voyeuristic society.
