I believe that non-wobbly windows are useless eye candy. I prefer the wobbly ones to the non wobbly ones. It's a matter of preference, not usability when it comes to wobbles. Wobbly windows DO increase my own productivity as does eye candy. It's just more pleasant to work with something that is visually appealing. For those that don't like the 'eye candy' there is always the terminal - you won't need to look at a window again!
Oh yea, and since you use beryl-svn every day, you know that transparency is already done and that there are already a plethora of useful application for Beryl.
I don't think there is a way to find out real IP addresses. There's no way to know for sure with masquerading and secure connections and proxies and all. Or what about war driving? I mean, find an open wifi network and download movies and music from your laptop, then who gets in trouble? And yeah, send the usb key via the Postal Service or FedEx. It sounds like they mean well and all, but this is the real world; it just won't work.
I am curious if the author of the article is also the one responsible for creating the virus. They speak of it in such a positive tone. I also noted 'anonymous' as the author. Just an odd article. Sounds like the problem is real 'isolated' to me! ha ha.
Yes, You heard it right folks. YouTube is being banned from countries where free speech is banned. Yeah, if something is being done online that the government doesn't like, they take it away. Communism at it's best! Hey! Let's all burn some books!
Yeah, HORRAY FOR MONOPOLIES!! They will take over the world! Didn't I recently read an article here on Slashdot that stated that Verizon and Vontage had signed an agreement on said patent. This is infantile.
If Microsoft IS indeed aware of what consumers want and do not want to provide that service then someone else will. It doesn't have to be Microsoft. Let's throw that ball into their court. They've better get moving and do something besides talk about it. Or someone else will.
Yes, I want to see numbers in the news article. Like HOW well it compares with the dual NVIDIA Cards. How does this motherboard 'stack up' against the more expensive alternative. It would be nice to see a chart with the figures.. not just the 'go buy this now' thing.
Comet Cursor!!! Yay! The exploit that Microsoft ignored for years! Affected Win98, WinXP, and Vista! Remember Microsoft said this problem was 'isolated' ha ha.
The RIAA has made America the laughing stock of the world trying to prosecute that ten year old girl and attempting to meet her in person. They've secured their position on being the most hated organization in history since the Nazis. I don't know where they get their funding, but those funding them should consider how their money is affecting both the market and the world. As far as Microsoft goes - PAY UP!
In my opinion, any program that takes lots and lots of memory to run is poorly, or sloppily written code. I don't believe that Microsoft cares how much memory it takes to run their software or how much one must pay to keep the hardware 'up to date' by their standards. This will eventually lead to their downfall, this uncaring nature. In any company, you want ALL the customers, not just the wealthy ones. You want everyone to use your software so you design something that everyone can use - and their system will run - in it's current configuration. One in charge of a company shouldn't ever force their customers to go down and buy a brand new computer just to get their software to run. Just imagine if you had this car, only a couple of years old, and in order to get the new stereo installed that you just bought, you'd have to purchase a whole new car. Think about it.
NO, they did NOT fix it in one day. First, they said the problem didn't even exist, now it's "isolated". Then about a week or two later (yesterday) they fixed the problem with a faulty patch. Then they had to fix that problem.
Microsoft wants to be on top of the operating system market and as long as customers are shelling out $200 or $300 bucks for one, it had better damn well perform to expectations. If it does not, and customers are dis-satisfied they will simply choose between Mac and Linux. This is simply economics 101.
Why aren't they using electromagnets? Could save a bunch of energy that way as well. Is the train at least riding on a magnetic field? It would be smooth as silk even at 350mph.
I always wondered if you used the 'pay as you go' method with Vista what would happen if the entire system needed to be re-installed? I guess it would install the basics again and you'd have to pay for the features to return again?
Humans can also be trained in telekinesis (to move objects with the mind). It takes lots and lots of practice on a daily basis and lots of effort but anyone can do it. Let's see if the scientists can figure out how that works.
This isn't news. And one cannot even compare this 'Serenity' to 'Star Wars'. This is just one person's opinion on a movie which this one person thinks is better than Star Wars. Well, Star Wars IS a religion, has thousands of loyal fans, and the effort that went into creating it is about ten times that of 'Serenity'. Know how I know? Well - they didn't have computer animation back in the days of Star Wars like they do now so it took a lot more effort (models, etc.). Yes, computers do make the animated sequences easier.
I'm sure it's a great movie, but it's no Star Wars. Sorry.
Well everyone that is forcing themselves to either use, or develop Vista would disagree about that. Wouldn't it be nice to buy a game and have your choice of 3 or 4 operating systems to play that game on instead of just one? If the operating system manufacturers had to build to a blueprint set out by the application software designers instead of the other way around. I guess in a more perfect world.
Well of course they accepted the offer given by the RIAA. What other options did they have? To simply loose anything and everything they ever held dear to them?
Just buy a game console already. You don't need to use your computer for games. Oh! even better! Look up one of those mods where you can build your game console (Gamecube or whatever) into your computer case! Heck, you could have Linux and your favorite game in the console running at the exact same time and switch from one to the other with a switch on the front of the case!
Anyway, just a thought.

But then again, whole civilizations have been wiped from the face of the earth before.

Then that settles it. DNS no longer gets access through the firewall.

Yes, and the internal combustion engine has been outdated for 150 years.
Now that the door has been opened. The real fuel alternatives will be unveiled.
Hopefully this is a joke. Slashdot works PERFECTLY in Firefox.

Telecommunications is not the only Technology we know of, is it? What of other technologies such as hospital related, or computer related.
Why didn't she just buy a new keyboard. Like under $20 for a multimedia keyboard fully supported by Linux.
Well of course they accepted the offer given by the RIAA. What other options did they have? To simply loose anything and everything they ever held dear to them?
