Just read wiki and the following paper (2002):
http://cr.yp.to/djbdns/forgery.html
Two most secure implementations of DNS servers Djbdns and MaraDNS are not even bother to implement this until they see (1) a stable, sensible DNSSEC protocol and (2) a detailed, concrete, credible plan for central DNSSEC deployment.
OS can co-exist without browser, can it?
Or you brain-washed completely?
As an example, have a look at KDE where Konquirer acts as explorer, but it's optional as well as any other software.
I would suggest Javascript.
Surprised? Yes, using this language 11 years old can play with websites and create nifty widgets. I'm sure it'll be fun for him. We have just a simple API on a server side: json, xmlrpc or whatever and it wont' be so much fun to program it.
Just look at this kid and you understand what I mean:

I hate wires as well, but just hope it won't fried my balls. It's way too much wireless stuff around us in these days and nobody can tell for sure how it might affect on us.
I was enjoying Easter Eggs in m$ excel by playing doom, I like see it in google reader. So I like to see personal the Autor's messages in general and would embedded it myself too. But I would be scared to see it in an Internet banking application, because they have so many developers in there, they keep changing and nobody knows how it works.
Imagine, somebody spied on you.
So you are about to sue a guy or a company.
But the guy is fired and the case is closed just because the BOSS said so. Would you be happy about it and won't sue anyway?
"consider this matter closed"
In that race millions of dollars have been involved, a lot of political stuff, some recorded communications might be used later. And the guy got just fired and "this matter closed". He should be executed if you ask me.
You are using a wrong business model.
You either have to close source it completely and fight against others competitors (including opensource) or make it totally open and make money on service, support or something else, like Sun Solaris/Java, Asterisks and many others.
Opensource project asks community to contribute by default. Make use of this big power instead of fighting against it.
Actually, you can use 'write' command for remote writing to a tty (even not logged in) as well. Pretty scare to see 'owned' message on all consoles one morning if not aware:)
Linksys went for GPL, produced a good hardware, but had to stop doing it for some reason.
That's how the business model works, because you won't buy an expensive router. So there is no reason for vendor to produce a good quality router. So you'll decide to buy a better router, but it'll have another bug, like getting hot or something. Then you'll try get even better one, "NG" model, all for vendor's benefit.
Then you'll post it on the slashdot.
Conclusion: It's a customer's fault.

Providing Suitable Environments for Different Needs
To suit differing user requirements, the Eee PC 900 comes in both Microsoft Windows and Linux versions.
The Microsoft Windows version offers more experienced users an enhanced and innovative experience that incorporates Windows Live features like Windows Live Messenger for instant messaging and Windows Live Mail for consolidated email accounts on the user's desktop. Complementing this is Microsoft Works, which equips the user with numerous office applications to work efficiently.
The Linux version is useful for users who desire task-based icons and an easy point-and-click interface. Well suited for children or users without any computer experience, it provides a fast boot-up timeâ" ideal for fast Internet access while waiting for public transport, or taking notes on-the-go.

Very good article.
Linux is different and people should not expect free replacement of Windows.
I use Linux because it is _not_ Windows. I understand it better. It's mine.
ps. Linux is user friendly - it's just picky about its friends:)
Video drivers quality was always the problem under Linux for me.
For example, the proprietary drivers from ATI is unstable and, sometimes, slow in following up with xorg.
The radeon opensource driver is more stable, but missing quite few opengl methods so even GoogleEarch won't work.
The situation should change very soon because ATI/Intel have started to release the specifications.
Nvidia is under the public pressure as well.
The answer is the same as for wireless hardware. I don't want mp3 player which is not acting as a media storage.
Why would you need a special software(iTunes) to download/upload music on it?.. Why can't I use my favorite player amarok with it?
btw, why would you pay for songs which you could not play on other devices?
Complain to vendor and simple don't buy such crap. Let them die peacefully.
Well, not totally agree;-)
As an example, html file could be gziped and stored as index.html.gz binary.
So your browser should unzip it first and only after that you can see the html source.
If your browser (plugin) could display a source code of java applet, it would be tricky.
I also can use webproxy tool which requests for index.jsp.bak.gz,,~, etc that some times gives you some interesting results.
You are right, I'm just trying to rise the questions that it's not 100% clear how far you can go.
Actually, java applets is more interesting question for me.
Can I decompile java applet and view its source code?
Isn't viewing HTML code is the same with decompilation?
Can somebody draw the reasonable line where I should stop messing around:
- HTML code
- Javascript code
- Flash
- ActiveX/Java applets
- Server side code sometimes available via.inc.java and other bugs on a server.
Good news. IBM that is taking aim at Microsoft with the release of a free office software suite called Lotus Symphony. IBM said Tuesday that Symphony, based on open source software from the OpenOffice.org project, will be made available as a free download essentially to whoever wants it. The package contains a word processor called Lotus Symphony Documents, as well as Lotus Symphony Spreadsheets and Lotus Symphony Presentations.
Hold on. These 2% (or whatever) are mostly geeks. So before buying anything for windows desktop users usually ask a neighbor geek what he would recommend. The answer was "stay away from ATI, they are suck!". The same message was very clear in many 3d/game forums too. It's good they have changed mind before they dead. But it will take awhile to get a reputation.

The article is about Mandriva linux, don't you guys feel the difference?.. Gentoo users should read http://gentoo-wiki.com/TIP_Speed_up_your_boot_time and http://jolexa.wordpress.com/2008/09/22/gentoo-improve-boot-time/

Yes dell does. You can download from it from here:

Keep it 100 years longer and try to sell it one more time.
