I would refer to the current state of the US as Corporatism than Capitalism. Capitalism presumes that there will be competition because the market would be full of customers that can make educated decisions for their own good. This is obviously not the case. And the current state of education is making it worse. Corporatism just sees people as consumers, not customers. The attitude of entitlement to consumer money is rampant. Now, I would say that in some sectors there is enough competition and the customer demographic is relatively educated enough to drive market forces. But for the most part this is not the case.
