>The end of the AT&T monopoly (and the >corresponding destruction of the state monopolies >in Europe) paved the way for this technology to >exist.
Not correct. Northern Europe had quite good cellular coverage before the monopolies was broken up.
>Home Broadband (WiMAX)â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦.Included
>Cell Phone Service (WiMAX Mobile VoIP) â¦â¦Included
>Home phone service (WiMAX VoIP) â¦â¦â¦â¦..Included
>Mobile Broadband (Mobile WiMAX)â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦Included
This might work for singles but for people with families or just girlfriends all that cant be in one device (subscription).
What happens when you want to use mobilebroadband or cellphone service, then there arn't a device back home so how is the rest of the family supposed to get online?
If you split the connection up on several devices there arn't any differences to current tripleplay solution. There are no way wimax is going to be magically cheaper than the other connection types.
I think its much worse, what happens when they don't see the business case in running the servers (like MSN music did recently)?. If I take care of my CD I can still play the game in a few years.
While Friedman might be right in that it is good to give incentives to make the public aware insider trading does the opposite. If excecutives (and others) with inside information can trade on the information it gives them absolutely no incentive to tell others.
Is this not what all respectable newspapers do (those that actually investigate stories)? I know, they might have other standards they hold to when deciding what to make public, but in essence its just the same.
Maybe you should buy a decent internet connection insted of a shared (cable?). My ADSL gives me the speed I pay for all the time, no matter what other people download.
I completely agree with this. Its nice to be able to check email from home, esp as I am a student and only work part time but it doesn't mean you absolutely have to do it.
If the author doesn't attach any license and it's "just" some code from a forum posting I don't see a problem with it.
I have several times posted code samples in forums to help people, I would not mind that they where used in someones commercial program, if I minded I would have attached some for of license.
If its posted on a forum to help somebody, the poster must know that it will be used.
If the following from the article is correct they violate more than just the spirit.
However, the latest complaint has more to do with the modication of a particular module of the underlying Linux kernel concerned with managing the hardware interfaces of the eeePC. The module asus_acpi (ACPI - Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) was found by Java developer Cliff Biffle to have been modified so that it works with the eeePC.
As Mr Biffle says in his blog, this would be fine except that Asus appears not to have followed the rules required by the GPL when making such modifications. Namely, they haven't distributed the source code for the modified module, nor have they attributed the changes to an author or given the new module a version number or name. Mr Biffle alleges that Asus also appears to have attempted to hide what it was doing by removing all references to asus-apc.
399 when you can get a paperback for lets say 10 USD, then thats 40 books for the price of this.
Thats quite a lot, I really like to read books but rarely get time to read more than 1 a week, so this thing cost the same as allmost my yearly book habit, without actually giving me any books to read.
There are no way I am going to cash out that amount of money.
Have you considered that they might have evidence that indicate that she knows it? If she for example reference to her encrypted files in a email or taped phone conversation?
GSM is the most used standard in the world. There are no significant country that only runs CDMA and only one that dont support GSM (Japan), even korea have gsm networks. So a world phone needs to support GSM.
I have a phone that supports both EDGE and UTMS (Nokia N73) and edge is fine for checking text email and surfing mobile friendly websites but if I want to download stuff, surf large webpages or use the phone as a modem for my laptop edge makes it allmost unbearable but UTMS it is perfectly useable.
You may be right about wotc making more money but TSR was alive for something like 20 years, they cant have done all that bad to be in business for so long. A lot of businesses (esp in the RPG genra) dont last that long.
2nd, was more the absence of rules for other things than combat, the core rulebooks did not include that many rules. And I am cetain it did not have rules about getting pregnant.
I stopped playing ADnD 2nd ed because of the lack of detailed rules (I preferred rolemaster back when I gamed).
There seem to be a lack of value in the new editions.
I played when it was the 2nd ed rules, they seemed to hold out for what 10-12 years. How come the new rules hold so much less?
Oblivion (eldar scrolls 4) is IMHO the best crpg since baldurs gate 2.

You must be new here? That kind of reasoning is standard operating procedure on /.

Why bother paying someone to do that when the users do that for free?

Maybe the unlimited dataplan for the cellphone+always on DSL at home.

Yes, but they often help the heroes. A big difference.
In denmark I have 3.2 mbit HSDPA, mostly the speed I get is around 2mbit and its normally only under bad coverage situations its slower than that.
Is this not what all respectable newspapers do (those that actually investigate stories)? I know, they might have other standards they hold to when deciding what to make public, but in essence its just the same.
But it will cost a lot of money for the ISP to administer and would make problems for legitimate users.
Or rather, what is a fake-mom? ;-)

Oh, I think I was mistaken, korea got UTMS networks (3G GSM), but not regular 2g GSM. There is a nice list of countries using GSM here: http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/index.shtml

Well, if you think the OSX flashplayer is bad, you clearly haven't used the linux flashplayer...
