  1. Early Exploits in UO on Cheating Online Gamers · · Score: 1

When I first started playing UO it was fun at first but then it got boring, chopping wood, mining, etc. So, I started interacting with the player controlled characters more. Like pick pocketing, PKing, etc. Then I found that B&E was much more fun. I could hide (become invis), a skill that I was a master at, and wait in front of a door of a users house then when they opened the door I could run in, thus revealing myself. Generally a battle would start with the most likely outcome of my character dying. This was OK with me because I knew if I waited until they left to revive then I would revive inside their house. Then, with the help of friends, we would empty all their possessions. We completely packed a tower doing this. Later they changed the code so this was not possible. I was still able to do this by having larger groups hiding making sure we could kill the person once they opened the door. Again they changed the code. They eventually changed the code so much that the game was unrealistic and became boring for all except those that didn't mind spending mind numbing hours mining or chopping trees.

I don't think it was wrong to do it... Heck they had the same opportunity to do it to me or anyone else.

To me that clearly indicates Panasonic's responsibility to provide the GUIDE? I called the number and they stated that zap2it.com was responsible for the guide data. Sounds like passing the buck to me!

  13. Re:Iris DB (How about public / private keys?) on ATM Iris Recognition Coming Soon · · Score: 1

Why can't it be setup like current digital signatures?

    1) Walk into bank and use their equipment to scan your eye and from that information create a public / private key pair. Essentially your eye would be the private key, and you would hand over your public key to the bank.

    2) The bank could then use your public key to encrypt your PIN, or whatever else they wanted to protect.

    3) When you approach the ATM and scan your eye it uses the scan to decrypt your PIN thus giving you access to your account.

For me the beauty of this is that the bank can't even get at the information once it has been encrypted. Of course it would have to be against the rules, if not the law, to store someone's scan.

    Am I missing something here?

That being true then if it were released today on PC motherboards it would most likely not have an operating system to run on. You could run Linux but not M$ Windows. Now to this crowd that might sound nice but to the masses it would be useless. AMD's hammer does have backward compatibility to the 32bit X86 instruction set... so one could run M$ Windows 32 bit until there was a 64 bit version and still use that machine to run enhanced 64bit applications and/or operating systems.
