Let me see.. BSOD 1 in every say... 1 in MAYBE 30,000 installs and is fixed with driver replacement. No drivers available in almost every install in linux. Wow.. yeah, I see your point.
Well.. rather than having a driver that occasionally causes a blue screen in Windows until you disable it.. you could just NOT have a driver at all in linux or compile your own code for it... at least until Bob in SoCal creates one for himself and sends it to everyone.
Will they portray the enterprise mac with the same heroin addict looking actor? I swear every time I watch one of those videos, it reminds me of trainspotting and I almost instantly go into withdrawl symptoms when it's over.
I can't imagine why anyone would buy a full version, considering all you need is a burnt copy of XP to pop in when you're doing an install... then it does a full format and install.
I've got an old Cyrix PC to donate, if it will bring them any closer to achieving their goal. It should bring the bursts down to at LEAST 5 seconds per burst.
It does... I'm not arguing that at all. I'm not arguing that linux has MUCH more room for growth and at the rate it is going, it will expand like wildfire. I don't in any way doubt that it's a simply incredible system, and it's very small amount of shortcomings will be sorted out within 2-3 years.
But, one can't argue that Microsoft will have cashed in on their own version when that day comes. There's really a good chance of it, if you think about it.
The only thing that would really crush Microsoft in the OS standpoint would be Macintosh releasing their system to the public, which I see happening soon. With 2 technically superior counterparts against them, Microsoft will be in a "If you can't beat them, join them" type of deal. They're TOO rich and successful at what they do, to be oblivious to their options. They're just not pushed back into the corner right now and they're still cashing in on ancient code.
They have no reason to move from their current source code, because it's still making them money and there are few threats. Besides, when they started Longhorn quite a long time ago, linux wasn't even as strong as it is today.
MS isn't afraid of Open Source, rather than linux. Open source linux will never have the support needed to support a mass quantity such as windows. The reason being, Support costs money.. marketing costs money.. and Open Source linux really can't handle that. In order to support issues and have a central system for drivers, updates and such... you've got to have some type of unity, income and government.
The open source community has a hard time deciding on factors, due to no central foundation for on time decisions. It's tons of different people acting for their own reasons to get their box to work correctly. Drivers aren't made because they need to be made, just yet. Not everyone is required to make drivers for their products or make their product compatible with linux, because it seldomly affects business.
I'm not saying that linux isn't going to jump ahead at any point, I'm saying that Open Source linux will never have the power to, when it hasn't got the funds to do so.
The one thing he didn't mention is, Microsoft has borrowed (I know, people have other words for it.) technologies and ideas from OS's and apps across the globe. They already have a unix subsystem that's been in place for years as an addition. What makes anyone think that one of the richest technological businesses on the planet, WOULDN'T create their own Linux-Based operating system if they came close to being overturned?
Think about it.
They have the funds in place. They have the support. Linux has always been harsh competition and has proven it's worthy.
WHY would they not do it?
You can't tell me that somewhere in a basement in Redmond, men aren't typing away with unix code, creating a small OS that is the beginning of a back-up plan for MS when fit hits the shan.
THAT is why they're not concerned. It's not just because it's a huge threat.. it's because at any time, they can write up their own flavor of linux like anyone else does.. and they've got the money to support it.
I agree with you. We all know that both chips and different chipsets have numerous pros and cons. I think that the recent competition will more than likely plateau brand switches, in comparison to the past few years when AMD showed it's tail lights.
Well, who really takes a "wait for barcelona" quote from a guy who uses the word GamEing"? The idea that he compared it to a gaming machine shows exactly how much he really knows about server processors in general.
This will be a pretty decent step for servers, not just because of speed, but the drop in heat compared to it's predecessors with the same amount of running processors. I'm sure that AMD will have something to throw in soon, but it really doesn't matter considering quite a few companies are bias to what manufacturer they use. Most stick with a brand, regardless of price, when they know it is reliable. It's also not a surprise that this was released. I'm sure that a V16 isn't too far down the line within a year or two.
If they really wanted the numbers to rise, and keep things fresh, they need to change it up a bit.
Possibly MOVE the fucking show to somewhere else, at least a different area? Last year it was look at as one of the most dull shows, with very few stand-out booths.
I understand that it's the original home and such, but I'm sure quite a few places would like to mix up the flavor and spend less money in accomodations.
I've been running Vista for a long while, and retail version since release. It ran alright for a while, but lately has been pretty sluggish with only a gig of ram. I'm really wanting to switch back to 2003, but Media center and the 360 are just too valuable at the moment. (I know.. hook, line, sinker).
Either way.. I can see why it's not going over so hot. Too many changes, too sluggish for most PCs and the differences in change aren't really THAT numerous for people to really want to change. It just wasn't ready for release.
I know it runs well for a lot of people, and it did on mine as well.. though I disabled a lot of the memory hog features. I just can't afford to put more luit into ram, and after that... I hope my luck changes.
Regardless of who is faster or has the bigger dick in the past, present or future... There will always be someone ahead of the other, and someone always trying to catch up. Whether you favor one or the other is insignificant against the fact that we're ALL going to benefit from this. After the 2 year dullness in competition pre-conroe, we've actually got something to look forward to.
I've always used Intel religiously. I tried a couple AMD's and they burnt up. Granted, they were earlier chips, but I stuck with Intel after that, even though they may have not been as fast as the AMD. Right now, I know that AMD will come up with something better than Intel.. BUT, I don't mind...
Why?
Price drops and performance gains bruthas. We ALL deserve these long awaited competitions. It's been a long time since we could actually sit back and think, "I've got a CPU/GPU combo that no game that currently made, could actually slow down." And we're doing it at a decent price.
Of course, in time we'll be having heavier apps and using up all the power that it has to offer... but, it's life. It's human nature to spend whatever is in our pocket... whether it be money, or power. Why own a sports car if you're not going to drive it like it's stolen?
We have actually thought about it, but we would have to move into smaller housing in a bad part of neighborhood.
We're not exactly living bad, don't get me wrong. I just think that people should dog parenting if they haven't been there... They may say that it's their choice, but sometimes even good parents didn't actually make the choice have children either.
I was basically meaning that a lot of the political sides make decisions on their political side, not on what's right or wrong. Most of these seem to be brought about by the loudest lobbyists and such.
Do you really think that parents want to take days off to take care of their children when problems happen? My wife and I actually have to take time off without pay when our children get sick, because we've used up our sick time or vacation time because of it.
Unfortunately, because neither of us make a huge amount of money, we both have to work and pay over $24,000 a year in daycare as well. We also have to take time off when our daycare goes on vacation to watch the children, and PAY them while they're gone.
I'm not saying it's a burden to have to do things for my children... it's sometimes stressful. And for someone who doesn't have one, or hasn't even been in any situation of the such.. to make ANY JUDGEMENT whatsoever is careless, ignorant and shameful.
Granted, you may have chose to not have children for many reasons. My greatest guess would probably be because of your personality and attitude rather than your choice to not have any.
I'm Sure your parents would really love to read this as well.
I apologize to anyone I may have offended by my rant, but I have a hard time dealing with people who argue against those who try their hardest in life to make sure that their children, the ultimate reward, get the best that they deserve considering they can't take care of themselves. Even if it means taking a couple days off and going without pay... You've got to do what you need to.
God bless the child that's got his own.
And for the record,
The reason most childfree people are childfree is because they were smarter earlier and able to comprehend the needs and difficulties of child-rearing, weighed it against the benefits and decided voluntarily to have nothing to do with it.
Wrong. Most people who do not have children are that way for a reason. They're either too young, in school or not married because they have personality problems, self-esteem, mental or confidence issues. I'm not saying that everyone that doesn't have problems, has children... I'm saying that "MOST" childfree people are not that way just because of choice rather than other reasons. Most acutally couldn't get someone to have kids with them, even if they tried.
I guess since someone already found that sad excuse of a post as "informative" I'm probably going to be repremanded.
I'm not going to stop from voicing an opinion to some fucktard who used to be a "disease ridden fleshloaf" themself.
I really can't see anyone using it for business either. That's not going to stop execs from buying them for "business" use, because they'd rather not pay $600 for one.
I'm not flaming the post, as much as trying to give a bit of a different perspective.
Right now, the most productive (if you can consider addiction productive) communication device would probably be the crackberry. Most companies even shy away from issuing cell phones with cameras in them, nowadays... let alone a quasi-ipod that would probably tend to make people fiddle with it all day, rather than do work. Sometimes I'm skeptical of the same issue with blackberries, but you catch what I'm saying.
I think this is all a play of words. I haven't seen the whole conversation, but it would be interesting to see what all was said to lead up to that. I wouldn't put it past someone in MS to be arrogant, but it would still be interesting.
Though this post is subtle, it would be easy for anyone to pick something out of it if I worked with Microsoft.
"Most companies even shy away from issuing cell phones with cameras in them, nowadays... let alone a quasi-ipod that would probably tend to make people fiddle with it all day, rather than do work."

Incredible. NOW the overpriced Blu-Ray drive is available in BOTH of your massive-selling flavors! MAC and PS3!
Except they forgot to mention that the tools used to extract the molecule cause cancer.
This needs to be done more often. Where do we get the software!?
If only they could find a solution to Domain Tasting and Kiting, we'd be taking a good step forward.
