If the people in the middle ages had only realized it was the rats, and the fleas they brought with them, they wouldn't have suffered from plague for so long. Hindsight is 20/20.
He says system performance is the same as it was way back then. He thinks that stuff just happened immediately on those systems because they were running very efficient code. So what. Here's a simple test. Go get one of those computers and set it next to yours. Turn them both on. Mine would be at a desktop before the old one even thinks about getting down to actually running the operating system. Or start a program. On a current system it loads now. As in, right now. Back then it was a waiting game. Everything was a waiting game. He must have simply forgotten or repressed those memories.
Treadstone? You're worried... It's all but decommissioned at this point. All right. What's next? Okay. This is... Black Briar. Black Briar is a joint DOD communications program that we really feel has good traction. It's got legs. It'll run and run.
One person uses only emotion in her decisions, therefore we should abandon the teaching of critical thinking in schools because it obviously doesn't work.
The ability to look around, recognize faces, react to and locate sounds, control the behaviour of parents with crying, and take objects and put them in its mouth as good as a six month old would be Nobel prize winning AI.
A 4 year old is so far ahead of any current AI they shouldn't even think of making this kind of comparison. It would be a Nobel prize winning feat to produce AI that can operate at the level of a 6 month old, let alone something that can walk around, talk, learn, imagine, and play.

You're thinking of burned DVDs. Most professional video DVDs are stamped.

These boneheads would probably implement it as a voice that actually says "one" "zero" "zero" "zero" "one" "one" "zero" "one" "zero" "one" "one" "one"
Ok, I'm imagining how stupid this is.

I could have sworn I had advertising disabled.
I wasn't going to read the article after I saw how stupid the pictures were. Apparently WiFi has all the characteristics of colourful soap bubbles.
She's not the problem. The teaching of critical thinking, or lack thereof, is the real problem.
Sony will come after them for copyright infringement.
I only do my top secret browsing through two separate secure proxy services. NSA will never know that I watch My Little Pony.

When the admins find a story that applies directly to them they can't help but post it.
I get so much dead tree junk mail that I'm surprised there aren't laws trying to stop it.
Don't post it here. Now they'll be Slashdotted as well.
