    In everyone's hast to bash Microsoft I think many have not taken a step back to realize that this is bad. This sets a dangerous precedent. NOT just for Microsoft. What OS is next? What program is next? How long before we have companies suing because they want their versions of....

    ....offered in the OS. The list could go on forever and you never know it could even include file management. If you think things are bloated now wait until all these OS manufacturers have to offer 9 different versions of everything.

    I do not think this is a good thing at all.

    This is a BAD idea. Why stop at Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari? What about the browser I just coded? Why can't that be included? You see what I am saying? This opens up all kinds of trouble, both legal and security issues.

    I would call him Mr. Jobs but that is because I have manners. However the point of many people (maybe even your point) would be that we should call him Mr. Jobs because he is a God of computers. Give me a break.

    Jobs is a marketing genius, not an actual genius. Mr. Woziniak was the actual genius. How quickly you fanbois forget him. (Or hate him with his recent comments on the company, its future and its products)

    Just because Steve-O holds up an iPhone does not mean he invented it or even a small piece of it. Just because Steve-Arino has his name on the patent does not mean he did anything beyond write CEO after his name. He markets the products and guides the ship. (And from most accounts he is a complete asshole when it comes to being a CEO. That right there should remove the Mr.)

    Stop making Steve Jobs into a God. He is not, never was and never will be.

    I find it interesting that they do this review AFTER the election.

    The point is to be continually reviewing these types of things so they can be corrected as needed. Not come out sometime after the fact and say..."My surveys show that they are right"

    This point should apply to ANYTHING not just political coverage.

    I agree. Sometime back, and now as well, all I keep hearing was how hard it was to get one of these machines to work correctly. Or how expensive they were. Seriously, how complex can they be?

    Simple radio buttons (or possibly check boxes), a few errors checks, couple of dialog boxes, a "VOTE" button, and then just a sum.

    Simple and done. Next project please!

    .....simply descibes the level of cynicism and bias that slashDot and a vast majority of it posters have toward anything Microsoft. They don't believe that Microsoft does or creates anything good. So when Microsoft does do just that, it must mean that the sky is falling.

    No, for real that was a serious question.
    If Joe Newb goes to his favorite website (using his default browser) do you actually think he even knows that it might not look like it is suppose to?

    This whole compliance war makes little or absolutely no difference to Joe Average. You can argue that he should care about it but within 2 seconds you would have talked circles around him and he will just tell you "but this website looks fine to me and that is all I care about."

    I have said it before and will say it again.....if I could buy their OS standalone I would buy a copy tomorrow.
    I know there are a few options out there to more or less do that. However I have not seen a legit, legal, choose your own hardware and it will be supported option.

    I want their OS on my hardware. Is that too much to ask?

    And why do we keep posting opinion pieces from a guy who hasn't had any impact in the industry in the past 20 years?

    Visionaries, such as Wozniak, are always asked for their opinion whether or not they are currently in the industry. Like it or not, Steve Wozniak pretty much single handedly (Jobs brought him coffee) invented the home computer. For that alone (and that is huge deal anyway) his opinion will ALWAYS be relevant. Particularly to anything Apple might be doing at the current second. He did co found the company for Christ's sake.

    On that same note: Why do we continue to ask for the opinions of former presidents, supreme court justices, cabinet members, retired scientists, authors, or any other number of people who may have not worked in their field in 20 years?

    The fact that so many people are bashing Wozniak just proves how much the iPeople hate any opinion that differs from the official opinion imposed Apple. Don't you see a problem with that?
