    Pffft! Come on.. PSU, main board, sound board, breakouts for controls, driver board.. Come on. Not a big deal.. Sure, you aren't doing any component level repair any more beyond some shitty cheapo dried caps , but that ship sailed a while ago unless you are a hobbiest with good tools and a steady hand. It pisses me off to no end that you cannot even buy a repair manual unless you are a "factory authorized service center" no matter how out of warranty.

    Why not just refill them? Especially brother carts as most of those units have a seperate drum assy. Did it for a few months for a living and the brothers all have a cap you pop off, dump in new toner and done.. waaaaay cheaper then even a refilled cart and no chip.

    the knife anology is pretty flawed as i see no mention of the requesite radios to carry out any such action.. i mean, they dont really have the wifi on the same network as control systems?!

    That was my second thought (first was "finally!")
    This is on my list of gene hacks, expanded visual range. Further, this seems to be a very good vehicle to refine the concept of genetic modification via viral administration. It could open up a whole host of other applications.. I for one would love to grow a new set of teeth every 15 years or so. Perhaps this will open the door for some of these ideas while allaying the fears of the masses wrt gene mods...
    Or perhaps we will simply open the way for the Eugenics Wars...

    HAHAHAHAHAH! Seriously, I just about sprayed my screen.. If you call "tech support" and tell them that, the response is invariably going to be two seconds of silence, followed by "Ok, have you tried rebooting, or restoring to factory defaults?" Never mind the fact that you are calling about a WEB SITE that spewed mysql connection errors all over the browser.. Do you really think that a tier 1 support rep in India knows what a database connection error is??

    uhm.. no its really not.. you can purchase prepay sims that work as mvno (second class citizen, but no id) over the counter for 20 bucks or so.. no id needed.
