isn't the end of the mayan calendar in 2012? none of this will matter , save for the fact that 25% of the world will be able to say 'neener neener neener' to the other 75%
in order for the emulation to work you will need a device far more capable than the device being emulated,... as far as I know thats how emulation works... but , doing a lot of hard hacking on this device to make it beefy enough to emulate its original configuration... how is this going to be viable, economically, or for ease of use so that the masses can benefit? not all of us feel comfortable programming fpga's , least not those of us with the 1000000+/. UID stigma:)
its cross platform, as long as those platforms are win32/64
and worse
"IronRuby doesn't just let you run Rails; it lets you interact with the rich set of libraries provided by.Net," Lam said. "You'll be able to use IronRuby to build server-based applications that run on top of ASP.Net or ASP.Net MVC. You'll be able to use IronRuby to build client applications that run on top of [Windows Presentation Foundation] or Silverlight." How about using the language as it was intended, instead of adding these features which are currently only supported natively on a windows box, and this is nothing more than the usual microsoft schtick, no mention of what kind of hacks are going to be required to get anything developed using IronRuby working on a linux or mac. most likely a complete re-write with the coder thinking 'wtf were they thinking'
hollow stab or no, the end result justifies the means, if it takes an 'also-ran' party bullying the minority in power to get any actual governing done in this country, then so be it.
A friend of mine lived in Ontario during the NDP run, he jokingly refers to it as his time in 'utopia' where the government paid for everything, couldn't hurt to give them the reigns just once, four years, see what ya can do, cant possibly turn out any worse than the US has under two terms of the Bush regime, and most of the sheeple that live there still think life is good
or give the customer a choice on what particular services they want prioritized, although that may not be realistic, i read another post earlier on that was maybe closer on the mark, regarding detection of congestion and prioritizing certain services, and this is the biggest thing people need to realize, an ISP has every right to PRIORITIZE mission critical services to provide the service that they have sold to consumers, however, it has no right to degrade the services I choose to use, on the service I have paid for. i cant believe this is coming from the ndp, i have a whole new respect for them now.
correction, it is just like all the other slashdot posts, it is praising things which are similar to windows, and share many of the same features, but seems to work better.. nothing new to see here, move along
sounds great and all, but not all of us can pack up and head to ottawa everytime these issues need to be brought forth, would not these demonstrations carry more weight if they were occuring in multiple venues simultaneously?
yeah, bought an IBM desktop with a 2.8Ghz P4, 512Mb ram and a 40Gb drive with dvd-reader, added 1Gb ram, removed dvdreader, added 250Gb internal drive,500gb external drive, pci wifi card, pci video card, and external dvdrw, windows wanted re-activation, 1 month after fresh legit install from store, my serial number matched the code on the side of the case, i did not have internet at home, and the phone number i was given by microsoft was DISCONNECTED!!
end result, got a friend to download february sp2 slipstream and have effectively reneged my windows licence, didnt bother using my legit key, may be stupid, who cares, its the only legit MS license i have owned ever.
Activation should only be needed if a new motherboard is detected, if the motherboard is the same, i see no reason for windows to think it has been moved to another PC. seriously what were these guys thinking.
reminds me of the win98 release from those PWA dudes of old, worked better on my pc than a legit retail that i tried, and gave up on LOL, even second edition of win98 sucked IMHO. i even remember the rumor that some dude at MS-HQ got busted running the PWA release on his work system 'cause it worked better'
sometimes i would feel more comfortable buying a pirated copy, at least its usable that way:(
it was bound to happen, as soon as one showed even a trickle of a loss of backing, a mass exodus to avoid the vhs/beta debaucle that dragged on around 13 years, sony lost the last major format war, looks like they won this one
i never slept until i finished the entire game two days after christmas the year it came out, went on a marathon with my strategy guide, which i kindly received from Nintendo Power, a couple of months prior to that, my best memories of any video game to date are that one:)
from the article
[0004] One disadvantage of the traditional method of implementing a breakpoint stems from the fact that a software interrupt requires an interrupt-handling procedure, which is provided by the debugging tool. If the debugging tool is not running, however, the required interrupt-handling procedure is unavailable to handle the interrupt. In this situation, the operating system may handle the interrupt. In some cases, the operating system handles the interrupt by performing a reset operation, i.e., the system "crashes." In other cases, the operating system cannot handle the interrupt, and the system simply "hangs." but unless you simply used a hexeditor to insert the opcode for a breakpoint into a compiled executable... (why would a developer do this) how did you get the breakpoint in there if the debugger is not running... this makes very little to no sense at all... use your integrated debugger in whatever ide you use, or go with Olly or Soft-ICE , but no need for silliness like this process
for that matter, a F/OSS game console... if anyone had the funds to back development and attract developers it would be google
steve ballmer could have this cleared out in what, half an hour?
AC and informative, mark you calendar folks

this is an excellent idea in the face of other proposed legislation on the table a la ACTA

thankfully, there is no central point of attack for the **AA to impose their DRM agenda on, when the OS is by-the-people-for-the-people.

good call, anyone think a WTO ruling would hold up in court if the *IAA showed up on your doorstep? :)

so by MS's standpoint we can justly say that Vista is XP 1.5 (in desperate need of patches)??
