Only laws common among all countries should apply. This should rule out murder, adultery, theft, and all the other moral-based laws. If problems arise then they can add to or change them as needed and they will apply in space only.
OR...
they could also use the 10 commandments. Although I doubt everyone will be able to agree on that, it would be a good starting point.
give in to what? Why wouldn't they want to add it? They are not telling them they have to replace the existing API (M$'s style), they are simply requesting that they add support for it. I doubt they would lose users by not supporting it though. Devs will just make separate Facebook versions(ripoffs) of the applications for use exclusively on facebook
Spam is annoying, porn is free speech. What does porn have to do with free speech? I haven't seen any porn movies which debate the ethics of downloading free music, have you?
The implication is that 13 year olds buy things based on pretty colors and the opinions of there peers. Most 13 year old girls wouldn't know value if it bit them on the nose
Translation: She'd buy a black and white TV if it matched her new shoes
If it was about an operating system it would fit on one CD, require a few megabytes of memory and be secure. Windows is not an operating system, it's an environment bundled with an operating system. Many of the mainstream versions of Linux don't fit on one CD either. Does that mean Linux is not an operating system? All of Debian takes 21 Cds, Fedora uses a DVD, Solaris uses a DVD (Ubuntu fits on one CD but it does a net install).
I use it to sign up for any site that I know is going to spam me. I set my junk mail filter to exclusive and check my junk mail folder whenever confirmation is required. Sure there are other services out there for this purpose but some sites block disposable email addresses. I still hang on to my old email address for MSN messenger(which I rarely use) and I can also receive important emails sent to my old address from people who didn't receive my notification regarding my switch to Gmail
i sincerely hope that they do not interrupt your phone conversations as many of the people here have suggested. Even If they do listen in on your conversations I'm sure that the ads will be sent as text messages, similar to Google AdWords. Many carriers (such as rogers) already send you text messages to advertise new services they offer so I don't this this would be too big of a big deal, providing they are pay-per-click and you not charged for every text message that you receive from google. There should also be a set limit on the number of ads you can receive per week, based of your payment plan - The more you are paying per month, the less ads you will see. This also encourages users to upgrade there cellphone plans.
I can think of a certain company, lets call it "macrohard", that could learn a thing or two from google. You see, when you play nice with open source you reap all kinds of benefits!
wouldn't it make more sense to get them from the cable/satellite provider's html guide instead of from each channel? I know Cogeco in Canada has one - quite good actually - it includes episode details and everything! This way you would select your cable/satellite provider, download & installs the script and you're all set!

"Releases" could also be a typo of "Released" making it "Google's OpenSocial Platform Released" - past tense
any idea of when this episode is set to air?
I suppose getting slashdotted does get you a lot of page hits on Google, but I don't think it's the kind of attention that they want
