This is not entirely true. The storm trojan/worm is now evolving to use new methods of spreading itself. I suppose you could interpret that to mean that the owners of the website are stupid for not properly securing there system, or that the user is stupid for visiting that site in the first place, but the worm is now using javascript to exploit vulnerabilities in the web browser to spread itself.

Do they really want to remember?!

Sometimes Alzheimer works as a coping mechanism. When they are in a nursing home, is it beneficial to there sanity to remember how yesterday was exactly the same as today? It helps them forget how miserable there life is and it makes every day as interesting as the last. They are always making new friends. They always have a "new" story to tell when someone comes to visit (even if they have heard it a million times). The visitors have someone that they can talk to because they won't remember it the next day anyways. It's like having a crazy old therapist!

Maybe we should consider all aspects before we go and play god. Do we really know what's best for the elderly?

as a linux noob I found that installing programs that were not listed in the default repositories to be very difficult. I think an MSI type installer would be extremely useful. I was so happy to discover autopackage and I would LOVE to see it more widely used for non-repo apps.

The other thing that I think needs improvement is WINE and game compatibility. Lets face it, commercial games are not being developed for linux. we need a way to make them work as well as they do on windows so that "linux has no good games" can no longer be used as an excuse not to switch. we should be able to reply "linux runs almost all the games that windows does"

Saying that everyone who uses Firefox installs AdBlock is like saying that all Canadians play hockey. While it may be mostly true, it is prejudice to block all Canadians just because you don't like hockey. Webmasters could be losing dozens of potential customers based purely on browser profiling!

Danny also offers a perfectly good, and much better solution, "Adblock Fence" (which can be blocked with noscript). I have no problem with this. If you want me to view your ads, fine. I have no problem disabling my AdBlocker to see the real content of the page, as long as you aren't forcing me to buy/promote anything or putting spyware on my computer. But if you want me to switch to an inferior browser, I am simply going to leave your website and you will not make any profit from me whatsoever. It is in your best interest to allow my browser.

If you aren't able to code your website properly to display in Firefox then you have a serious problem and don't even deserve to have your own blog, nevermind a whole website! Firefox is by far the easiest browser to code for. If you can't code for Firefox then you need to go back to school.
