    You seriously need to look at your choice of mp3 plaer. I only use 1-3% on my celeron 300 with winamp or xmms.

    Actually it should work on any windows that supports USB. That includes win 98, win 2k, win me, and win xp.

    This could be accomplished in Perl with about the same number of lines. Any language can do this as long as proper libraries exist. The fact that it is built into the language is not an advantage, in fact it is a disadvantage because you have less flexibility and options.

    I'm sure rebol is nice and you can be productive in it, but it won't have anything that you can't do in another language.

    Clustering DBs is possible, just difficult. Two phase commits allow for ACID transactions across remote DBs. I believe Oracle has some sort of system that does this. I have never seen one in production though.

    No. Although HP uses Windows internally for email, all of its large, external facing websites run on HPUX. You think everyone at IBM logs in to AIX boxes?

    When I graduated from University there were several game companies pursuing me because I majored in Physics and minored in Computer Science, and spent several years doing research in machine learning. From a purely coding aspect the most important skills are going to be math (Linear Algebra), physics (Classical Mechanics), AI, and Graphics. So if you are in school pursue those classes. If you can make it through the upper division level classes you should have no problem learning new algorithms and implementing them and learning new graphics APIs.

    Of course some relevant experience outside of school (your own demo or game mod) never hurts.

    I am salaried and on call every other week. For this I get an extra 15% in pay, wether or not I get paged. Not a bad deal when the pager is quiet, but it can suck when you have to work all weekend, get paged monday morning at 3am and still have to be at work at 8am.

    . The STL in particular is a beautful, high performance, library that damn near perfectly nails down the balance between power, flexability and ease of use.

    Don't forget the mind numbing syntax! The STL is nice and fast, but using it makes me yearn for the layers of casting that Java libraries have.

    It was better when it was originally shown on Showtime because you saw the original Lexx's bare heaving bosom in a shower scene. She was one hot biscuit! Too bad she turned into a lizard and died and got reborn as a hot but not quite as hot girl.

    Why can't the VCR set it's own damn clock?

    My sony vcr does this actually - just select "Auto" from a menu. Now if it would only watch TV for me, I'd be set!
