Indeed. I can't even remember the last time I got a BSOD by doing out of the ordinary. When I'm trying to increase my overclock to it's max I often see them. They help me know I'm trying to push the machine too far.
Oh, I got one once when I pulled out a PCI card of a running machine. Apparently Windows doesn't like that.
And lets see.... that's all I can think of. Every time I've gotten a BSOD, it was my fault. I'm sure 99% of all BSOD's are user fault/error.
Because nVidia paid good money for it. They wouldn't want to give it to competitors for free or allow ATi card owners to benefit from a nVidia "feature."
There are simply far too many areas of study where doing the bare minimum will afford you a decent grade. I am proof of that. I don't do jack shit and managed a 3.5 last quarter. Now I'm cooping and I still don't do jack shit and make 18+/hour. It's great.
21 and the cost is free with my rent. Along with internet, water, and gas. And no, I don't rent my parents basement. I live in an apartment near campus.
I have 4 monitors on my machine. 3 19" LCD's and 1 22" LCD. The PC itself is a Q6600 @ 3.1ghz and 2 HD3870's, also overclocked. The CPU and 2 GPUs are watercooled. There are also 4 hard drives and a sound card.
I've think I've estimated the power draw at around 450w under full load (not including the monitors. 3 of them are turned off when I play games).
"to the point they even received support requests for pirated version"
Yes, because the bugs reported by users who are running a pirated version of the game aren't worth listening to. A bug is a bug; it doesn't matter if the user paid for the software or not.
Ah, I guess you're right. My number was from the first Google result for "4870 stream processors." However a quick check to Anandtech has proved me wrong.
That's why when AI is actually achieved, it will either kill itself when it realizes the situation or endeavor to take over the world.
I, for one, will welcome our new AI overlords.
Coincidentally, computers are becoming more and more parallel. Modern CPUs are 4 cores, each being able to execute two instructions at once (hyperthreading is back, whoulda thunk). 8 core processors and higher are on the way in the near future.
Of course, then you have GPUs. The just released AMD 4850/4870 has 480 stream processors that work in parallel.
So I was sitting in my cube on this fine Monday afternoon, eating my lunch, when I had a brilliant idea.
FlashFaceSpace. It will combine the wonderful-nonannoying-awesomeness that is Flash, the unobtrusiveness of Facebook applications, and the customizability of MySpace to create the ultimate social networking site of DEATH. This will blow MySpace, Facebook and every other social networking site out of the water.
have that can explode like this? All I can think of are all those cheap electrolytic caps. They really do put on quite a show, don't they? Put the transformer up on the roof, ok? You know the big cans you see on utility poles on the side of the road? Those are filled with mineral oil. It is flammable.
You can hear the arcing, then see the oil fly everywhere as the transformer bursts, and then it catches on fire. Something like this, albeit on a smaller scale, probably happened.
"Hundreds of thousands" of these little boxes will surely use more electricity than a proper data center with equal power/capacity.
Two many?

even if they had one, what does one do on a computer without internet?
There must be an error, I have the same IP. Tyler Durden, is that you?

Tom's hardware is crap. Try a decent review site: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3341
I must be hanging out in the wrong pedo chat rooms; I hardly know any of those "20 Internet acronyms a parent should know."
.kaaahhhnnnnn ?
You sir, are in the same situation as me. I was about to leave and saw that post. Put a smile on my face.
The URL is "yro" which could be construed as "Your Rights Offline"...
Indeed, it is slow and bloated.
A few games can. Supreme commander for one. I believe World in Conflict can also.

Luckily I don't pay my electric bill.
bah! I got the same message also.... probably because I don't have Flash installed. And am not going to install it.

I remember reading something similar to this: http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~palsetia/cit595s07/projects07/Final_Paper_Nina_Baron.pdf but I can't seem to find it. It was about how modern CPUs and GPUs will soon be able to model brains (not necessarily of humans) due to their increasing parallelism.

Scratch that, it's magically working now. I blame the commies.
Slashdotted. Anyone have a mirror?
